What an exciting project to embark on! Having owned a 2nd generation MX-5 and an E86 BMW Z4 with the 3.0 straight six, I've come to the conclusion that the perfect driver's car would be my MX-5 with the Beamer's six. I think this Rocketeer kit might be my ticket to paradise one day. Subscribed and following!
You wont't be disappointed - I've got one, which is their Mk2.5 (as seen on the Piston Heads video). Great balance, great soundtrack and it's got the all important soul, too, Enjoy.
@@jinksbaker Ahhh, so you mean that the modern Jag unit is significantly lighter.. I was thinking throttle response on the Busso would be more like the chassis response of the M X...
I can’t believe how MX5s ( and all Mazdas) rot in countries with salt on the roads ! I have a 2010 NC here in Perth Western Australia & had to take all the black suspension parts off & get them blasted then powder coated,as even in our hot dry climate all the paint was flaking off ! Good tip , I use an Ozzie product called Fisholene ( bit like Waxoil) to drench the underside & all the cavities. Cheers Simon
Hi Bazer , The Metal working will continue to come and the finalisation of the rusteration and the handing over of the car , but as you say something a little different for people to watch as well :)
Check several times a day, hoping for second release in this series. Looking at views and likes massive interest in this build. Hoping to see and hear monster hitting the road really soon.
Hi Paul, yes most dont realise we are not only a working bodyshop but also do mechanics and modification as well as engine installs and modification :)
Really interested to see how you get on with this; I've been playing with the man-maths for about 2 years on selling my S3 Elise and resto-modding an NA MX-5 with either a Rocketeer conversion or ITB's. Can't drive quickly on UK roads anymore so it's about maximum character! Good luck with the build, I'll be watching with a great deal of interest!
The perfect engine for an swap would be the 340hp v6 of the F-Type with an manual gear box. Don't know if it would fit but it seems jaguar didn't sell many manual versions here in germany unfortunately.
Hello Steve shouldn’t this one be linked to part 2 in the play list. Must admit Don’t really know how this works, but can imagine people wanting to see multiple episodes together.
Wow wasn’t expecting this so looking forward to the up coming content and what a good bit of kit you have got there 👍🏻
Haha yer some don’t know we modify cars as well as restore them :)

Thank you :) yes we think it will make for a fantastic drive :)
Damn, for one brief moment I thought you were going to slot in a V6 in ten minutes! Looks like a fun project.
Now that would be a fast paced vid :)

well jealous - although maybe an option would be the glorious Busso Alfa v6?
@@CosmicSeeker69 Likely, too heavy.

Yes corrosion has always been a problem on the mx5's
I really enjoy your amazing metal working videos, but this promises to be an interesting variation. Looking forward to watching the build progress.

Great video, love the Jag V6, massively underrated!
It is a superb engine :)
Glad you chose(im my opinion) the best looking MX5 generation.
Well it chose us more than we chose it :) it was the customers choice of car :)
Definitely best looking, will be fantastic

Awesome selection of parts. Think I'd go for real wheels instead of Japan racing replicas for such a cool build though!
It's all down to budget :)

Hi Chris. Yes it will be :)
Very cool, curious to see the total cost of a conversion like this
If the customer agrees we will let you know at the end of the series :)
Looks tempting. Is it available in the US?
I think rocketeer will ship anywhere :)
Awesome work! Does Rocketeer have a supplier in the US?
I think they will ship worldwide?
@@yorkshirecarrestoration i hope they succeed and expand here in the US
Do you have a preference to co2 or co2/mix for welding on the car
We usually use co2 but can get a cleaner weld with a mix and even cleaner with pure Argon
👏👏👏
👍
Thx for info…..!
No problem!
Following!
Thank you :)
