The snake is about to be obese, perfect prey size..probably just fed too often. If you look close to the base of the tail/ vent area, you can see the beginning of what's called "snake hips" and corn snakes are hella notorious for it
Corn snakes always grab on the first strike. My corn snake has never missed a strike, and within 30 seconds of construction the mouse is already dead and it’s head is fully submerged in my girl’s mouth.
Why give live food? In 2023 it is easy to find it frozen in many shops. In addition to being unethical, it is also dangerous for the snake, it could be injured.
Not all predators like to eat frozen thawed. Furthermore, live feeding is more natural because the predators get to use the instincts they use in the wild.
I bet they look away when the lion eats the gazelle too. Plus sometimes it’s just easier to pick up a live feed on the way home from work, than it is to thaw out a frozen rat for 2 1/2 hours.
Here we are not in nature; we are the ones who breed them. In the wild they would die after a few years, in captivity they go up to 20 years, because there are not the same dangers. So besides making a mouse suffer for nothing (because he could eat it thawed and nothing would change) it is also dangerous for the snake. If you can't understand that, I don't know what to tell you.
That corn snake is gorgeous
Damn swallowed it alive I think corns are great eaters that they don’t give a coin about killing it prior to swallow
Jaki to gatunek?

because that's what they eat in the wild.
Just because you’re squeamish about the realities of nature, that doesn’t make something unethical. Grow up.
