My favorite persona game is persona 5 Royal because the time I play the game during covid lockdown School got postponed that time, mann it really fills the hole of my highschool life cause of the lockdown It might be weird but I feel like the phantom thieves Is actually my friend 😅
@@armormakes Sorry I never got around to responding to this but I worded this really stupidly in the video. It’s not that it can’t be canon it’s more so that I thought the sequence of events in the game were kinda janky to me. So in P1 you start with the Snow Queen route, then with the mobile game in mind (which is canon as far as we know) they get sent to the Anomalous Tower by the DEVA system, which is basically a 99 floor Tartarus, then they get sent to the alternate Maki’s reality. It’s just really bloated and I felt like the manga made it more concise while also making it more interesting
Persona 5 and royal will always have my heart no matter what. I played vanilla p5 in middle school during a time where I was awkward, quiet and didn’t really know my true self. This game was such a comfort for me as it made me stand up for myself more and formulate my own opinions. It made me open my eyes just a bit more about the world around me and come high school I had a way better personality and was making so many more friends and doing well in school academically. It gave me more views and outlooks on life in general and it holds a special place in my heart (no pun intended XD). P3R is probably second on my list! I have a few problems with it but overall it’s a solid time! And i know it’s not persona related but my next ATLUS game is gonna be Metaphor which I am so excited for! I tried the demo and now I’m so hooked. Christmas can’t come sooner!! Great video bro! Keep up the good work :)
Oh man, PQ2 is peak, it basically is Persona Endgame with all three teams and Kotone. Since our takes pretty much match, I can`t help to recommend it to you every single time. As for you take that games are are not-cannon do not matter, those games help us to understand the characters more, and the characters is what I love about the series.
Persona 3 Reload is my favorite Persona game. It was the game that hit me the hardest as it relates to a struggle I had being if I actually wanted to live and playing through that game made me realize that it's worth it to keep on living. I relate to most of the party members and a lot of the SL characters, and the story is just so PEAK. I also hate quite a lot of things you mentioned in FES and Reload fixed all of them for me which made it my definitive way to play P3
My Persona series ranking would probably look something like: 1. Persona 3 Reload: This game is a dream come true for me. One of my favorite games remade in such a beautiful way. I know a lot of people don't like some of the changes made but I never really cared about those things or are just really tiny details I wouldn't even notice if not comparing to the original side-by-side. Just a true dream come true for me. 2. Persona 5 Royal: Just the original Persona 5 but more and even better! The themes of the new semester are something I still think about today. 3. Persona 4 Arena: Labrys' story is probably the best story told in the Persona universe. (imo ofc) 4. Persona 5: It's Persona 5 what could I possibly say that hasn't been said already??? 5. Persona 4 Golden: A huge improvement over the original in (almost) every way! Great story, great characters, just a really good experience, but I do think the dungeons are my least favorite of the mainline games. Marie has been really growing on me nowadays. 6. Persona 3 FES: This game is really important to me. The story is truly life changing there's not much I can add to the conversation, and I do think the gameplay is fun. 7. Persona 4: My first Persona game and a really good one too, but there isn't much I can say about it since Golden exists. 8. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax: Arc System Works in the PS3/XBOX360 era was just something else, man. One of my favorite fighting games and its story and gameplay are what got me into BlazBlue which is another of my favorite franchises. The story itself isn't anything crazy but I thought it was fun and kinda neat. (and Kikuno Saikawa is a character that's awesome!) 9. Persona 5 Tactica: EXTREMELY FUN GAMEPLAY!!!!! The story was surprisingly good (not really surprising all Persona stories are good imo) the artstyle is fun and just a short and enjoyable adventure really. 10. Persona 4 Dancing All Night: What a silly and fun idea for a spin off! I really enjoyed the story mode and I think it was the perfect sendoff to the P4 era. 11. Persona 5 Strikers: I don't really have much to say about this game. It came out at a time when I was kinda burnt out on Persona but it was enjoyable and Sophie and Zenkichi are great! 12. Persona 3 Portable: A really fun alternative way to play Persona 3! I really don't mind the VN like presentation I like VN's and I think it's really charming! Also Saori Hasegawa is probably my favorite Social Link in the series! I just like the other P3 versions more. 13. Persona 3 Dancing in Moonlight: This game is also fine but it has the P3 cast and I really like the P3 cast so it goes slightly above. 14. Persona 5 Dancing in Starlight: This game is fine. It is okay. 15. Persona Q: when I started playing it I really didn't understand how to play DRPGs and I dropped it after the second labyrinth. I have played Mary Skelter: Nightmares since then and kinda liked it so I do plan on going back to it at some point. I haven't played yet oopsie! 😋: Persona, Persona 2 Innocent Sin, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment (I was putting these games off because I don't like emulation especially PSP emulation for some reason I myself am not aware of, and at this point I thought I should just play the original versions when I'm good enough at Japanese), Persona Q2, Persona 3, Persona 5 the Phantom X (I do play it but I can't read chinese so the story is a mystery to me for now. It has Ayaka Sakai doe so 11/10!!!)
P3Portable and P5Royal tie as my best persona game! The former because it was my first persona game, and honestly as a girl, playing as Kotone just hits harder, especially with all the masterpiece ost from that game dedicated for her playthrough! Watching her battling shadows with music blasting at the background and the lyrics go "I'm not a princess!" and then seeing her destroying the enemies? The perfect heroine. Then P5R because playing as the Phantom Thieves is just too damn cool of a story and personally, i think P5R main cast have the best persona design compared to the other persona game (Arsene and Joker combination is just *chef kiss*)
landed on your lost judgment review cause I’m loving judgment, click your channel and see you’re in your persona era and I am too bro, finished p3r, midway through p4g, and starting p5r. Love your energy keep it up
My ranking of the games i'd played go like this: Persona 5 Royal Persona 4 Golden Persona 5 Strikers Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (still gotta play story mode) Persona 3 Reload Persona 5 Dancing Persona 2 Innocent Sin (havent finished but as it stands the gameplay is really poor) Persona 5 Tactica (this game has piss poor gameplay and dropped it) I'm a guy who usually favors gameplay over everything. I plan to play Persona 4 Dancing and Persona 3 Dancing after I play Soul Hackers 2!
P3P over Fes isn't too unheard of. The fixes to gameplay plus replayability with a different protag and more killer music is really nice. It'll really come down to if you feel the answer is a necessary part of the P3 experience.
Completing all the games in 5 years is a fucking achievement in it self. I’m close to completing 5 for the first time and due to work it’s taking so long
For me, it's gotta be P5R. I never played the original so I guess I can't appreciate the changes so much - but the story was amazing. The plot twist of the murderer was obvious, but Maruki's plot blew me out of the water. The palaces were beautiful and fun to play through (yes, even Okumura's,) and the entire playthrough was a blast. The third semester is what made it, for me, my all time favourite game. Akechi, Sumire and Maruki are some of my favourite characters ever - fighting with and against them was truly amazing. Nobody can talk down on the final boss fight, either. For me, one of the reasons I loved it so much was how it changed me. In a corny way, the Phantom Thieves all embody embracing your trauma and growing from it - that's beautiful. As an aspiring writer, Persona 5 Royal helped me so much and is a big inspiration for me. Maruki, infact, is one of the reasons I want to become a great councillor one day. I will never stop loving this game.
Nice video, agreed with many of your points even if I'd rank some stuff differently. Persona 3 Portable still remains as my favorite Persona/MegaTen game and my favorite game of all time. I loved a lot of concepts in Persona 3 FES, yet I think certain aspects of it such as the combat and Social Links held it back from being an improvement of certain games. I found P3P with FeMC to improve or fix every aspect that I didn't like about P3F, culminating it to be my perfect Persona experience. Persona 3 Reload is one of my most adored games I've played this year and is still an S Tier game, but I find myself still preferring P3P maybe because of nostalgia :P
As a man who has never played any Persona games yet, I said this franchise is the bomb and Persona 5 is one of my favorite Persona game, except Phantom X since it's a gacha game
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! It's hard to rank games like p4 arena next to something like og p3, my ideology is always like ranking something as big as p3 out of like 100 points vs arena out of like 20 points. Because arena objectively is trying to do a lot less and that's ok it's a fighting game nothing wrong with that, but that's how I personally tackle things like that. Love your explanations and this video 🙏
I agree with the fusion complaints about FES...EXCEPT one of the biggest things they changed in FES they added party controls...so your biggest complaint was actually from P3 vanilla.
Persona Q 1 and 2 are such underrated games, I understand why some may not like the first one as much because of the lack of the story getting good til near the end (it's worth it tho). Q2 is just good all around, there's more story but I think it's a lil weaker then persona Q1s story. The gameplay is the real meat of the game tho, Its deeper and funner than the mainline games to me, there's so much creativity and depth to it, plus it's also pretty challenging.
I havent played any of the games, but i know all the spoilers lol And I think I love the vibes and story of P2 the best, especially Eternal Punishment, then P1 PSX, the P4D remixes, and P5S soundtracks are amazing, and I think P4 + the anime as support is the most entertaining lmao Also I love watching the P5R+S persona awakenings from time to time and love the build-up to them lol And P5 and P3R have the most delicious looking UI and UX 😋 Plus most openings are bangers and peak both in visuals and music About your video, its very balanced and respectful to all the games, good job ❤
Great video! My favourite Persona games would have to be Persona 3 Reload > Persona 4 Golden > Persona 5 Royal. Played all of them this year and they were some of the greatest experiences I've ever had in gaming but I think what 3 and 4 do are much better than 5. They're also some of my first JRPGS I've ever played.
For me: S Tier: Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Royal A Tier: Persona 4 Golden, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment B Tier: Persona 2 Innocent Sin C Tier: Persona: Revelations other iterations of the games that I didn't mention, it's because I rate them below the best version of that game, this is my opinion and if you don't respect it then it's a you problem and idc, not here to debate which version is better, this is mine and you keep yours
@@moonblastx1996 p4g cast exceeds any persona game which also makes you feel like u are In game as the mc which I think is the most important quality a persona game needs to have to be great
Does the Arena Ultimax modern ports get bonus points for having the OG arena story baked in, or are we not considering that in this equation? I didn’t pick up the game until the Steam port and I ended up doing the OG Arena story mode first, so maybe that’s why it left a better impression for me. Although outside of that, through the brief dip into the Persona series I’ve had, I’d say I agree pretty much with everything here, including P4G being at the top despite *everything* lol. It’s 100% helping renew my interest in the series, there goes my free time.
I want a P5 arena cuz story be dammed I just want a game where all 3 newsona casts can run the ones and have unique interactions cuz if 4A/4AU was great with them imagine what it could be with the 5 cast and potentially some characters from tactica and Royal and the 3&4 casts, Ik it’s dream that won’t come true cuz it would be hell to write but it would be so cool if it was as fun to play as the arena games we do have already ngl
Sorry man if there are crybabys that forget that people have different opinions. That said it's overall a solid list i get many of your complaints of older titles and i respect that you love p4 that much but still are willing to admit its flaws, something that the majority of p4 fans and persona fans in general refuse to accept. My list would be: 1. Persona 5 Royal 2. Persona 3 Reload 3. Persona 3 Fes 4. Persona 2 Innocent Sin 5. Persona 4 Golden 6. Persona 2 Eternal Punishment 7. Persona 5 Strikers 8. Persona 1 9. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax 10. Persona Q2 11. Persona 5 Tactica 12. Persona 4 DAN 13. Persona 3 DIM 14. Persona 5 DIS This is my favorite series and every time that i find a list of the games i'm just amazed of how they are all so well made that basically every video is different
I don't have much to rank, but i guess it'd be funny anyway, so here's my ranking of persona games I've played Persona 2 eternal punishment Persona 2 innocent sin Persona 5 royal Persona 1 and 3 fes are tied, though i haven't finished 1 yet
@ nothing, he’s just a purist guy who probably dislikes people like us who started pretty recently. they’re just stupid, that’s all. i didn’t even start that recently, is 2012 recent?
I've only finished one Persona game, so the ranking will be pretty simple: 1. Persona 4 Golden There you go. Only thing I think is incorrect in your critique is calling Persona 1 “ahead of its time”. I'm currently playing it and it feels very dated even for PlayStation era JRPGs. It plays and especially reads like a SNES JRPG which I would call behind its own time, haha. Playing the PSP version on real hardware (RIP no emulation speed up) too with the better localisation, but even with it it is archaic
For my list, Persona 5 is my favourite persona game, it has my favourite story, cast, music and gameplay of them all. P5 is GOATED with the sauce. Persona 4 is my second favourite game of the series and that game is also GOATED with the sauce. And Persona 3 all versions are really great. In conclusion Persona is GOATED with the sauce.
Okay! So... I'm just gonna say this on PQ and PQ2: If you don't mind Japanese VA's, the Q2 is better, if you like English VAs... um... well Q2 is still probably better, but I played Q1 and started Q2 and yeah... I have a recharge timer on Etrian Odyssey based games since those are the "make your own map and party comp' style games. Very deep gameplay and not difficult to break into, but very difficult to master. The problem with Q1 no matter which side you end start with (because you can play as the P4 or P3 cast side, which only really changes a lot of unimportant things. Namely, the "why" you're at Yasogami High and that it's seemingly in the past. Also, you can't use the "Yu Narukami" MC name. Not enough spaces, idk why this is the case for a 3DS game, but it is what it is. Additionally: don't use the game specific characters, neither characters can use Personas and it's not a good idea for reasons I won't go into. Oh! And these games take place DURING the small "blank period" that is the typhoon in P3. So, yeah, and they also do the "forget everything after" which makes sense for reasons I can't go into. PQ2: from what I've heard, a bit better plot, again, this is what I've HEARD. This isn't a "I KNOW" type situation. I'm still on the first dungeon. Anyway, it's all in Japanese, they didn't do an English dub (dunno why, it just is that way), you start with the P5 cast. I've heard that P3P's FeMC makes an appearance between her and Makoto Yuki (yes I forgot her name and am not looking it up), they eventually deduce that all the other P3 cast isn't her team. Makoto and Yu also appear from what I've heard and... setup is set in a movie theater. That's pretty much all I can talk about... oh! There is one thing I didn't mention that I will cover right now! Q1 and Q2 both feature cross-crew chats! Meaning that you can see how Teddy interacts with all the P3 girls, how P3/4 girls and guys chat and also how the unique characters of each game interacts with the crews! Oh, and while you do get the option in Q1 to choose which crew you start with, you don't get the same in Q2, you start as the Phantom Thieves, no choice there. Oh, also, you do get the choice of Navi in Q1, dunno about Q2, but I'd guess the same. Also, there are interactions between them. Oh! Lastly, I promise, in Q1 (can't speak to Q2) all characters can have 2 Personas wielding their main one as their main Persona and using a sub-Persona of any kind, in other words, both crews get a slight Wild Card ability. PS- in Q1 Makoto Yuki is more of a backline mage while Yu is more of a Frontline fighter. The difference is, I wouldn't say pronounced, but it makes using both of them worthwhile. PPS- Naoto in Q1 gets shnasty with the insta-kill stuff. Main Persona isn't amazing in boss fights, but that's where the sub-persona system shines for characters like Naoto, Ken and Koro-chan! PPS- depending on how you feel about the EO series, these would range from high C-tier to low/mid A-tier. If you hate EO series, C/B, if you don't mind EO B/A the games are in order and based upon teams you can use. But I happen to like EO as a whole so, I'd probably go mid-B to mid/high A based upon what I've seen on the tier list.
PQ2 never got an English port, because it came in as the absolute last 3DS game. There was practically no time to buy the game, because it came out 20 months *after* the Nintendo Switch.
Honestly, I was just mentioning it as I felt it was worth mentioning that it had a JPVA only. That there was no English VA, let alone any other language. Nice to know the reason, but it was worth a mention for people who might not like JPVA a ton.
No problem, I just love JRPG's on the whole, so I play a ton of different ones as well as some other RPG's and strategy games (Fire Emblem roped me into strategy), so I have XCOM experience which is kiiiiiiinda what P5T's gameplay is based off of. (Seriously, the same goes for MarioxRabbid's games it's XCOM1/2 by another name and some tweaks here and there.) So yeah, thanks for the compliment. I hope you found my breakdown of what I know and heard helpful!
Ngl I skipped to see the full list but if one of the criticisms of FES is "uncontrollable party members" then that's really sad. As long as during the protags turn you give the correct orders, and there's enough to cover everything you could ever want, you basically DO control your party. This argument for why it's bad is just people not exploring every aspect of the game as it has such a simple way around this
@@jamesbrittain3958 well if you actually watched the video instead of commenting prematurely I never said it was bad I just don’t like it. Very different.
The thing about gacha games at players choice is because the companies bribe players with free pulls or guaranteed 5 stars if they vote. Really shitty stuff
For me: 'what I like from bottom to top of my likes only' S Tier: all of Persona 5 series - Royal, Strikers, and Tactica 'with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' A Tier: Persona 3 Portable, Reload with DLC, and Persona 4 Golden B Tier: Persona 4 Arena and Arena Ultimax C Tier: Persona 3 Dancing games and 2 Persona Q series D Tier: Persona 1 and 2 in halg games remade better
Possibly controversial, but I preferred P5 to P5R. Even though they added a lot of QOL features to P5R, the original just felt more aesthetically whole. Starting and ending with Shido made a clean story arc. The story and characters in the third semester in P5R weren’t that interesting to me, and I personally didn’t care for the changes made to the music and dialogue. Also might be controversial, but P3R left me cold. Enjoyed it for a while, but took the quickest ending and have no desire to replay. The atmosphere was depressing and the party members were boring, except for Junpei, who was annoying.
I hate P3 Reload only for dumbest mechanic. As a remake, as a new and last persona in franchise for now, as persona what goes after P5R. After the most wonderful experience with the mechanics of P5 where everything is brought to perfection. Why the hell does the new game bring me back to the miserable times of grinding and the fact that the rest of the team does not get exp? To increase they're level i need to find that stupid big clock and other things. This game it's just like copy of original P3 but with new graphics adding just a little details. Why couldn't they make the mechanics no worse than P5 with traits, anti-grind and the ability for all team members to gain exp. Even Personas not have much unique skills. They came to the conclusion that they had come up with a unique skill for Thanatos in P5 "Door of Hades" but why they not add this in P3R where Thanatos from? This is the only one Persona where i'm really not having fun because of this. If i was playing old P3's i wouldn't complain because this games old i'll just take this and play. But P3 Reload it's a freaking Remake what goes after P5R with gorgeous mechanics, i just can't accept this game with his stupid decisions. Yeah P4G will always be the best Persona what exist in the world.
@@HashBandicoot356 the differences they did make were big enough on their own. Feel free to peep both of the videos I made on them if you’re interested in my reasonings (Also I like EP’s story a lot more despite IS being my second favorite story)
Made my points very clear, especially the one where I said I like all the games. I would play P5X over Persona 3 FES every day of the week. If you don’t like it that’s cool but this is how I feel and I won’t budge on my opinions just cause people disagree. (Persona 2’s story is better than Persona 3’s, not the gameplay)
Still playing p4g for now mine are p3f (with mods) P5r P5s But really if anyone knows a spin off better than p5s cause it was ok but not that much to call it the spin off that doesn't deserve to be treated as a spin off P4 story isnt good Like how im reaching adachi's dungeon and its great for a first playthrough
Is this an absolute train wreck of a list. I disagree with most of it. And it's fine to have your own opinions, but the points and arguments made about each game are a complete and contradictory mess.
What exactly is contradictory? Only thing I can think of is how I put P4G at number 1, but I admit in the video that game is a weird case for me Also keep in mind I like every game, so this is based on how much fun I had more than anything, not how good each game is necessarily
I played every mainline Persona (1-5) during their respective release years; 4 is also my favourite...and I believe know why people who like it sometimes get confused by why. I prefer dark stories/atmospheres and good narratives over characters and gameplay, so 4 felt like a clear downgrade at first. The main story's premise is okay, but the characters' interaction with most of the main narrative is light-hearted and pretty dumb until it gets closer to a wrap. HOWEVER, P4 has absolutely NO MATCH in terms of applying the Jungian psychology to its characters' development, which also ends up reflecting on the narrative itself by the end. This element, alone, reverted my whole perception of it. The character development is so insane, even my much higher preference for story over characters didn't "save me" from recognizing the brilliance of it. It wasn't just a matter of characters changing due to being exposed to critical circumstances, as in most cases in every form of media. No, P4 was much more self-reflecting, introspective and internally fleshed-out (lots of symbolism and interaction with the characters' psyches). I can't think of anything else in gaming that does this so well, and that was for an entire cast. It gives you some actual good insights for life, and even indirectly educates you on some of the few still relevant concepts of psychoanalysis. Personally, I didn't like P4 Golden much, as I felt like it actually detracted from the original non-fiction value of it in favour of leaning harder into the anime-style interactions. The same happened with Arena, with the P4 anime and, here I'm just guessing, with the dance games (never played them). In any case, P4 hits you by not feeling overly pretentious, and then delivering the most significant delivery on what one's persona is, and what it means to pursue one's true self.
I've watched the P4 Arena games on UA-cam, and I don't like what they did to Aigis' character and Akihiko. The rest of the P3 cast are fine? I guess... This is as much as I can remember for the P3 side of the Arena games. Aki, to me, doesn't seem like the type of person going around shirtless and only wearing a freaking red cape like a superhero traveling the world and training or whatever. It's so strange and so goofy, like why?? what were they thinking?? As for Aigis, I feel like she's reverts back to being a robot imo. After The Answer from FES, she's grown to be this sweet, kind, gentle, and empathetic young woman with a talent for leadership and has a strong sense of justice. She's truly alive, like a real human woman, and I don't see it or feel any of that reflected in the Arena games. There's one part in Arena or Ultimax I can't exactly remember which, but Mitsuru asks Aigis to tell Akihiko to go back to college/university classes for some reason instead of calling/meeting him and talking to him like a friend. I mean, they've known each other since middle school! Ok I get Mitsuru is busy and whatnot, but I mean, she's willing to spend time shopping with Yukari but no time to call or meet with Akihiko and talk to him about going back to classes? idk man lolz. Aigis kinda acts like her robot self back in P3 when she tells Aki to go back to uni, even tryna force him physically to get his shit together. Also I thought Aigis is the last of the Anti Shadow weapons. They've made it clear quite a number of times in P3 and even in The Answer when Metis appears and Mitsuru says that Aigis is the last one, so why suddenly add Labrys? How the hell did she survive? I thought every single one of them died (or destroyed), except Aigis. Can't remember if they explained how Labrys survived or not, but again, it's so strange to me that at this point in the Arena games, which supposedly takes place after P3 and P4G, they found Labrys and just decide to bring her back to life? ok sure Persona 3 to Persona 5: P3 FES is still my favourite, yes the old gameplay and not controlling your party members is challenging, but I kinda like it and it's unique to P3, cuz some modern games feels too easy. Reload's Theurgys make the bosses slightly easier to beat which kinda disappoints me and broke the immersion for me, but I still enjoyed Reload's The Journey and The Answer I also enjoyed P4 Golden, but my first time playing P4G my initial thoughts were, what's the point of this? other than Marie, going out at night, Adachi Social Link, scooters, additional events, winter, epilogue, going to Okina city, to me it doesn't really feel necessary or justifiable as a remake/remaster? idk just me I guess. I can play regular P4 just fine and live without those added features I guess. But good and enjoyable game still. I have little to no interest in playing P5 Royal (or any of the spin-offs), cuz I finished regular P5 and it's just okay for me, but I still enjoyed it when P5 first came out. It's still a great game of course and P5 got new people into the Persona franchise, but it's my least favourite Persona game. Also I HATE Morgana, when will Joker ever be free from his constant presence?? like he's a fking cat he can just waltz around the streets until nighttime and return to the cafe dammit!! excuse the long post, but I enjoyed the video, great to hear your analysis and thoughts
@@elai97 Just for info, in p5r Morgana is way less restrictive with your evening time, and also the added characters and the new final arc are probably the best of the modern games, like p2 and p3 level of writing. P5r is almost flawless imo try to pick it up if I sparked some interest in you
My list is as follows: 1. Persona 2 Innocent Sin 2. Persona 4 Golden 3. Persona 2 Eternal Punishment 4. Persona 3 Reload 5. Persona 5 Royal 6. Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax 7.Persona 3 Fes 8. Persona 4 Dancing I haven't finished Persona (PSP) or Persona 5 Strikers, haven't played the Q series, and I don't have interest in playing the other Dancing games.
The mystery being the whole "focus" of the game but it's super easy to figure the culprit, the characters at times forget that there's a killer on the run just waste time in useless slice of life scenes, although funny. Nanako's survival/demise is just used to make the characters happier or sadder without a proper explanation on why if you make a choice she lives and if not she dies. The culprit reveal is great but after that you have the persona staple boss fight against a God that wasn't foreshadowed at all, even after that you have the Marie part whose inclusion is decent at best, both as a character and as lore figure. As a character they use her all social link just to make her meet the IT because if no one would care about her, lore wise because she is the definition of shoved in, you can't just introduce a new God and say that it had " some problems " to intervene. Finally the final battle, although imo great conceptually is poorly realized with the player that has to make nonsensical choices in order to unlock it, I get that since this is a mystery plot the dev wanted you to find the solution but even Igor says goodbye to you if you didn't do the sequence of interactions before. Izanami lacks depth, foreshadowing and motivation making her feel like a late addiction to the game. There's everything that prevents me from loving p4, apart from the characters acting like clichés all the time and the game's story that doesn't acknowledge their development in the social links
@cristianoducceschi3547 if you figured out the killer you maybe be smarter or you deductive prowess is really good cuz I didn't get it until maybe mid ways. I loved the fact you had no idea a chance meeting with the attendant was the big bad. My first playthrough I just ran through and missed alot and 2 playthroughs after that I was as meticulous as I could be to get as much right as possible to get the true ending. Nanako life hanging in the balance I will admit had my head scratching on why. So that I agree with you.
@@KonEl17 that's fair man, I don't consider myself that smart tho, I just looked at things from the outside, you know like:"why is that Adachi's sl is the most restricted in the series?" Then I remembered royal where the most complex confidants were linked to plot, I sometimes wish I enjoyed the mystery like you, since I discovered adachi during June I basically waited them to understand for the whole game and that really soured my experience. As for Izanami I agree that's a great idea but I really dislike the execution, like why should I have to talk to a number of people in a specific way when I already defeated 2 gods and everyone is saying goodbye you know? In the end that's the reason I didn't like the story of p4 but overall I still enjoyed it a lot, even though it's my least favorite of the modern games
@cristianoducceschi3547 did you play 5 first before 4G? It's all subjective right I like 5 and 5R but it does fail abit for me and 3 Reload o think would be a great standalone game and as a remake I think it fails to be the definitive version.
@@KonEl17 yeah I played p5r before p4g since it was quite hard to come around at the time (I bought a ps TV just to play it), played p3p even before that, loved that tho but p5r is better imo in many ways. I personally was pretty satisfied with Reload, it's basically a full FES remake, Femc is cool and all but it's not a deal breaker for me, Reload is imo the best version of p3 rn
Sorry p5 confidant is the most less memorable and pretty much whatever to me. P3 and p4 has way better confidant/social link to me. Except maybe some like the doctor, sojiro and the devil arcana. P4 is more like wtf a subquest only fox confidant which is whatever. Also the football and music ones are very boring except yosuke kanji and well yukiko maybe.. But the nurse one is the most interesting for me due to how mysterious it is at the first few links. Also after p3 reload the linked episode is pretty fun esp akihiko, yukari also ken early eps and shinji. Fuuka is the one idgaf at all and maybe mitsuru is close second. And outside of sees maybe daisuke is the most boring ones. Even that is not as boring as the fox. I fast forward everytime i see the fox. I prefer og p3 and p3r and ofc p2 remakes on psp. Then p4g then p5r. To be honest i dont remember much about p5r confidant except for the teacher, devil , sojiro and the politic man.
@@KonEl17 It just feels like an actual sequel to me. Something like the Mariko arc would NOT fit into P5, and the fact you’re actively traveling across Japan makes it impossible for the same things to happen in OG P5
@cristianoducceschi3547 after playing 4 Golden and then playing vanilla 5 and then Royal to me it felt like there were less events with friends the Hawaiian trip fel to quick and it gets an extension but with that still felt quick. Yoshizawa doesn't feel implemented in the game like Marie does, Maruki he was a great addition and felt like he belonged and not an add on if that makes sense.
@@KonEl17 i have to disagree Sumi was integrated beautifully imo, much better then Marie that even lore wise she doesn't make sense. Strikers is the closest thing we got to a full persona sequel so I can't see where you are coming from unfortunately
@@YandereGogeta I'm probably going to be in the wrong but I'm comparing this to 4 Golden and the closeness of that team. In 3 they don't feel like friends but trauma buddies and it fits due to the context of the story. But 4 and 5 feels like more genuine friends but I feel you don't hang with them in a similar sense. Yoshizawa character doesn't feel integrated into the cast as Maruki does for the story or Marie in Golden.
My favorite persona game is persona 5 Royal because the time I play the game during covid lockdown
School got postponed that time, mann it really fills the hole of my highschool life cause of the lockdown
It might be weird but I feel like the phantom thieves
Is actually my friend 😅
P4 is my absolute favourite too, the characters feel really close to me more than any other game I've played

Its like yr own gang fr
The P1 Snow Queen Quest literally ends with the party going to SEBEC to stop Kandori. There is no reason why both routes can’t be canon.
I have never agreed with a persona tier list more
Persona 5 and royal will always have my heart no matter what.
Keep up the good work :)
the best persona is determined by the soundtrack I'm listening to at the moment
Oh man, PQ2 is peak, it basically is Persona Endgame with all three teams and Kotone. Since our takes pretty much match, I can`t help to recommend it to you every single time. As for you take that games are are not-cannon do not matter, those games help us to understand the characters more, and the characters is what I love about the series.
@mmpsp693 I wish it actually had all teams...
@@goddamnpavuk1099 Well, that would be very expensive very fast!
@mmpsp693 but TATSUYA
I wish Atlus making Persona Q3 after Persona 6 released
I love how persona Q is truly that one forgotten spinoff, its kinda funny but sad at the same time LOL.
Your video gave me 35 minutes of sanity in this 11 hour work day of mine..thank you 💯
I’m glad I was able to do that man it means a lot to hear. Keep up the good work 💯
each time i hear persona 4 golden, i want to play it again. thats how good it is
P3Fes is the reason Persona is the way it is today figuring this combat was an achievement for me.
My Persona series ranking would probably look something like:
(imo ofc)
(and Kikuno Saikawa is a character that's awesome!)
I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with a game tier list so much as much as this one. Great list!
Persona 3 Reload?
@@stevenadys It's definitely my next choice after Royal, but i kinda dislike how i cannot save one of SEES member in Reload
Another banger from my goat

Persona 3 portable is my favorite persona game, golden is my second favorite and 5 is my third.
My ranking of the games i'd played go like this:
Persona 5 Royal
Persona 4 Golden
Persona 5 Strikers
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax (still gotta play story mode)
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 5 Dancing
Persona 2 Innocent Sin (havent finished but as it stands the gameplay is really poor)
Persona 5 Tactica (this game has piss poor gameplay and dropped it)
I'm a guy who usually favors gameplay over everything.
I plan to play Persona 4 Dancing and Persona 3 Dancing after I play Soul Hackers 2!
My top 5:
1. Persona 3 Reload👑👑👑
2. Persona 5 Royal
3. Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
4. Persona 4 Golden
5. Persona 5 Strikers
1:17 How the hell do you not like the remixes?

P3P over Fes isn't too unheard of. The fixes to gameplay plus replayability with a different protag and more killer music is really nice. It'll really come down to if you feel the answer is a necessary part of the P3 experience.
P5R is my all time favorite
It was my first persona game so i have a soft spot 4 it
Completing all the games in 5 years is a fucking achievement in it self. I’m close to completing 5 for the first time and due to work it’s taking so long
I used to have a lot of free time haha
P4 Vanilla is my no.1
Always be. Really glad you love P4/P4G. It really healed me during high school. Btw, nice vid!
So far i'd say:
1. Persona 5/Royal
2. Persona 4/Golden
3. Persona 5 Strikers
I'm gonna play Persona 3 Reload soon though and I'm very excited 🔥
I think I never saw a vid like this before. Cool to See a persona tier list including the spin offs.
The spin offs are some of the best games in the series so I had to talk about them 🙏🏻
Nice video, agreed with many of your points even if I'd rank some stuff differently.
I see you in comments loving P5S. You all have great taste
i love your vids so much bro
Thank you that means a lot!
My list is in order:
Persona 5 Royal
Persona 3 Reload
Persona 4 Golden
I need to play the others
I know it’s not exactly a Persona game but I think Metaphor might be my new favorite
I cant believe you put persona 3 over persona 3, personally id put persona 3 over persona AND persona 3.
Lowk tho amazing tierlist
As a man who has never played any Persona games yet, I said this franchise is the bomb and Persona 5 is one of my favorite Persona game, except Phantom X since it's a gacha game
LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!! It's hard to rank games like p4 arena next to something like og p3, my ideology is always like ranking something as big as p3 out of like 100 points vs arena out of like 20 points. Because arena objectively is trying to do a lot less and that's ok it's a fighting game nothing wrong with that, but that's how I personally tackle things like that. Love your explanations and this video 🙏
Thank you I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
6:14 I WILL BE DOING NO SUCH THING!!!!
Morgana is actually the best Persona character, he makes sure you're well rested. Yall just wiggity wack.
@RohenEdwards we got much bigger issues with Morgana than the sleep stuff 💀
I havent played any of the games, but i know all the spoilers lol
And I think I love the vibes and story of P2 the best, especially Eternal Punishment, then P1 PSX, the P4D remixes, and P5S soundtracks are amazing, and I think P4 + the anime as support is the most entertaining lmao
Also I love watching the P5R+S persona awakenings from time to time and love the build-up to them lol
And P5 and P3R have the most delicious looking UI and UX 😋
Plus most openings are bangers and peak both in visuals and music
About your video, its very balanced and respectful to all the games, good job ❤
Great video! My favourite Persona games would have to be Persona 3 Reload > Persona 4 Golden > Persona 5 Royal. Played all of them this year and they were some of the greatest experiences I've ever had in gaming but I think what 3 and 4 do are much better than 5. They're also some of my first JRPGS I've ever played.
You think you could drop a party member tierlist for P5?
I'll definitely do one at some point
Atlus need to send you persona six review code early next year w video tho🙏🏿🔥
15:08 AYAKA MENTIONED!!!!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
For me:
S Tier: Persona 3 Reload, Persona 5 Royal
A Tier: Persona 4 Golden, Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
B Tier: Persona 2 Innocent Sin
C Tier: Persona: Revelations
other iterations of the games that I didn't mention, it's because I rate them below the best version of that game, this is my opinion and if you don't respect it then it's a you problem and idc, not here to debate which version is better, this is mine and you keep yours
Agree with you
p4g is the best one
@JeveesLegacy worst writing and pacing of the modern games
@@moonblastx1996I completely agree with you however
@@moonblastx1996 p4g cast exceeds any persona game which also makes you feel like u are In game as the mc which I think is the most important quality a persona game needs to have to be great
Does the Arena Ultimax modern ports get bonus points for having the OG arena story baked in, or are we not considering that in this equation? I didn’t pick up the game until the Steam port and I ended up doing the OG Arena story mode first, so maybe that’s why it left a better impression for me.
Although outside of that, through the brief dip into the Persona series I’ve had, I’d say I agree pretty much with everything here, including P4G being at the top despite *everything* lol. It’s 100% helping renew my interest in the series, there goes my free time.
I didn’t give points to Ultimax for having the original story just cause if I did that then I had no idea where to put the OG arena at lolol
@ well OG P5 found a spot so I trust that you could have figured something out in the end
@@littleguystar If I did factor it in they’d just be next to each other since Ultimax’s story adds literally no value at all for me 💀
the fact that P3P has the female mc makes it better for me than p3fes or p3reload
Oh i forgot to ask but besides the Void Quest, what other story beats did you not like in P4G?
FES at c hurts man... but other than that pretty much spot on
I want a P5 arena cuz story be dammed I just want a game where all 3 newsona casts can run the ones and have unique interactions cuz if 4A/4AU was great with them imagine what it could be with the 5 cast and potentially some characters from tactica and Royal and the 3&4 casts, Ik it’s dream that won’t come true cuz it would be hell to write but it would be so cool if it was as fun to play as the arena games we do have already ngl
Sorry man if there are crybabys that forget that people have different opinions. That said it's overall a solid list i get many of your complaints of older titles and i respect that you love p4 that much but still are willing to admit its flaws, something that the majority of p4 fans and persona fans in general refuse to accept.
My list would be:
1. Persona 5 Royal
2. Persona 3 Reload
3. Persona 3 Fes
4. Persona 2 Innocent Sin
5. Persona 4 Golden
6. Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
7. Persona 5 Strikers

10. Persona Q2

12. Persona 4 DAN
13. Persona 3 DIM
14. Persona 5 DIS
This is my favorite series and every time that i find a list of the games i'm just amazed of how they are all so well made that basically every video is different
I don't have much to rank, but i guess it'd be funny anyway, so here's my ranking of persona games I've played
Persona 2 eternal punishment
Persona 2 innocent sin
Persona 5 royal
Persona 1 and 3 fes are tied, though i haven't finished 1 yet
I was worried about the ranking when you said “as a fan for 5 years” and I was right to be worried.
i mean a lot of newbies are kinda biased a TON but its whatever
What do you mean
@ nothing, he’s just a purist guy who probably dislikes people like us who started pretty recently. they’re just stupid, that’s all.
i didn’t even start that recently, is 2012 recent?
How you feel about P3FES is how i feel about P4. I dont hate it ,but out of the modern 3 its my least favorite. And i absolutely agree about P3R
I've only finished one Persona game, so the ranking will be pretty simple:
1. Persona 4 Golden
There you go.
For my list,
Persona 5 is my favourite persona game, it has my favourite story, cast, music and gameplay of them all. P5 is GOATED with the sauce.
Persona 4 is my second favourite game of the series and that game is also GOATED with the sauce.
And Persona 3 all versions are really great.
In conclusion Persona is GOATED with the sauce.
Okay! So... I'm just gonna say this on PQ and PQ2:
If you don't mind Japanese VA's, the Q2 is better, if you like English VAs... um... well Q2 is still probably better, but I played Q1 and started Q2 and yeah...
@@furiouscorgi6614 well it did just only translated text
Thanks for the tips and opinions! It was nice seeing how enthusiastic you are about the Q games
(Seriously, the same goes for MarioxRabbid's games it's XCOM1/2 by another name and some tweaks here and there.)
So yeah, thanks for the compliment.

C Tier: Persona 3 Dancing games and 2 Persona Q series
D Tier: Persona 1 and 2 in halg games remade better
5:39 Today I learned there's a persona manga. 8:25 Well thanks not creepy at all lol.
I cannot agree but i respect your opinion
Personally I still think ps3 (reload) in terms of story is my favourite.
Dang, no SMT If...?
W tier list man. As someone who also lives in the middle of fucking nowhere I heavily relate to your P4G take lol.

@@HashBandicoot356 the differences they did make were big enough on their own. Feel free to peep both of the videos I made on them if you’re interested in my reasonings
(Also I like EP’s story a lot more despite IS being my second favorite story)
Algorithm boost comment i love persona 4
A gacha game in A tier is insane plus persona 3 fes in C tier while Persona 2 with even worse gameplay in B tier? You're just trying to be different.
P5 is last no question about that for me, only bad persona game in my opinion
P3Fes gaps the whole series Imo
@@jacobholland2579 Valid opinion
Still playing p4g for now mine are p3f (with mods)
P5r
P5s
But really if anyone knows a spin off better than p5s cause it was ok but not that much to call it the spin off that doesn't deserve to be treated as a spin off
P4 story isnt good Like how im reaching adachi's dungeon and its great for a first playthrough
P3 > P4 and it's not even a competition.
P4 was good but is hella overrated. 😂
This guy loves trash and puts trash on top which makes sense since he is trash.
@@Touchybanana thank you for your feedback I’ll be sure to take it to heart 💜
VALIDDD!!!
Is this an absolute train wreck of a list. I disagree with most of it. And it's fine to have your own opinions, but the points and arguments made about each game are a complete and contradictory mess.
What exactly is contradictory? Only thing I can think of is how I put P4G at number 1, but I admit in the video that game is a weird case for me
Also keep in mind I like every game, so this is based on how much fun I had more than anything, not how good each game is necessarily
He lost me in the gotcha game.
Maybe once it comes out overseas it’ll get you back in 🤔
I played every mainline Persona (1-5) during their respective release years; 4 is also my favourite...and I believe know why people who like it sometimes get confused by why.
Can't remember if they explained how Labrys survived or not, but again, it's so strange to me that at this point in the Arena games, which supposedly takes place after P3 and P4G, they found Labrys and just decide to bring her back to life? ok sure
Persona 3 to Persona 5:
P3 FES is still my favourite, yes the old gameplay and not controlling your party members is challenging, but I kinda like it and it's unique to P3, cuz some modern games feels too easy. Reload's Theurgys make the bosses slightly easier to beat which kinda disappoints me and broke the immersion for me, but I still enjoyed Reload's The Journey and The Answer
I also enjoyed P4 Golden, but my first time playing P4G my initial thoughts were, what's the point of this? other than Marie, going out at night, Adachi Social Link, scooters, additional events, winter, epilogue, going to Okina city, to me it doesn't really feel necessary or justifiable as a remake/remaster? idk just me I guess.
P5r is almost flawless imo try to pick it up if I sparked some interest in you
1. P3R
2. P4G
3. P5R
4. PQ
5. P4A
Unfortunately I haven't played persona 1 and persona 2 duology yet.
My list is as follows:
1. Persona 2 Innocent Sin
2. Persona 4 Golden
3. Persona 2 Eternal Punishment
4. Persona 3 Reload
5. Persona 5 Royal
6. Persona 4 Arena/Ultimax
7.Persona 3 Fes
8. Persona 4 Dancing
I haven't finished Persona (PSP) or Persona 5 Strikers, haven't played the Q series, and I don't have interest in playing the other Dancing games.
What about P4G story is bad
1.Persona 4 Golden
2.Persona 5 Royal
3.Persona 3 Reload
4.Persona 3 Portable
I highly disagree but I respect your opinion
a
Why did this get hearted 😭
@Astruline it was a truly profound comment
I honestly believe P5 Strikers tool content that should have been in P5 out to make that game. Which is why i dont support that game
What does that mean?
