It's totally normal to feel anxious and nervous in the first time job. We ALL go thru that. As the days go by, the better will be and more confident you will feel.
I act so stupid when I'm nervous, also. it only gets worse when people treat you with a degrading tone, which is common because people are unforgiving. I know I'm not stupid, but sometimes (especially with no experience) I do stupid shit and people get the wrong idea about me. ugh!
It's really horrible how they didn't provide you any training at least one or two weeks and orientation tour , because they are always many details. I believe this company isn't professional. But on the other side you will learn many things by your self and you will be more confident with time then find a better job and company.
fronr desk job is very tough. especialy when its your first time in that field. a lot of details, documents and interacting with different customers. MULTITASKING to the max! 😃
Today is my 3rd day as a vet receptionist, this video sounds like me, act and sound so stupid as I'm new and don't know anything. Hope you are doing an amazing job at the dental office!
I worked as a receptionist in property management and it can be super rough. That’s awful that they didn’t even train you or have someone as your liaison. The job I’m at now at a vet clinic isn’t giving me any decent training either. Just 4 days of shadowing and then I’m on my own 😫 I’m so stressed and anxious! I totally feel you girl!
Sweetie, you are an example of "not all heroes wear capes"... It is very often that people tend to think it's only THEM being awkward. Thank you for sharing your story with the rest of US "walking embarrassment's" :-)
The Elevator Story was extremely funny, lmao. I have spent over 4 months looking for jobs and it was frustrated. This video boosted me up and brought some fun to me.
I enjoyed hearing about your receptionist experience. I have been through that same thing. I don't like showing up for a job and there isn't someone around to train me to let me know at least what to expect. Agencies don't always know what the job responsibilities are. I'm surprised you decided to go back.
I loved this story - I've been nervous on the job and felt totally lost many times. People don't train you very often and so you have to get by on your wits. Well you seemed pretty together and so well done.
Temping is an adventure. You handled yourself very well. First days are nerve racking. The fact that you arrived early and cared about your appearance shoes you are responible. Good job!
I'm currently looking for a job as a receptionist and this video gave me an idea of what to expect and how to deal with random, last second situations. I hope I get the job soon. Thanks for sharing your experience, this calmed me down a bit. Great video.
So I was just searching for receptionist skills sort of videos, when I saw this one under suggestions. For some reason I had a feeling that I needed to check it out because something told me it would be funny but also that I might learn something from another's experience. I am glad I did because I was laughing, not at but but because I am just like you when I get really nervous and I could just see myself in the same situation. If if makes you feel better, I have had a blond moment in an elevator myself where I was pushing a button repeatedly with no response only to realize after a few moments that I was pushing the button for the floor I was on and not the floor I was going... I've also done what you did, pushing what I thought was the button, but I was outside the elevator trying to call it. Turns out I was pushing something that looked like the button but wasn't... So yea, it humored me to hear your story because sounded so much like me. Makes me glad to know there are other awkward people out there like me:) THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
Lmao this video reminds me of myself just freaking out. We all fuck up sometimes, just gotta laugh it off and move forward. I've applied to work for a receptionist for a hair salon and I'm terrified. I have a lot of anxiety 😣
Really. It's very exciting moment. I also now working as a trainee Receptionist at the Hotel. Yes. some outlet guest asking difference questions from me to get thiers needs. This very important thing is we must be strong and do face all the questions. 👍 Thanks for sharing for us yours experiences.
Today, I had my first interview. I went to the wrong address by accident and was 20min late to my interview. I was so anxious that my voice was shaky when answering questions. I forgot my resume in my car so I looked unprepared and I basically lost all memory of all my interview answers. I basically wings the interview and I got a second interview tomorrow lol idk how they I did that but hopping I do good tomorrow! Thanks for your video, makes me feel better about today's events lol
Wanda Bortnyak I was actually in the same situation as you, my voice was sooooo shaky and I was completely nervous. And today was my second interview and I got the job! I hope the same for you. Good luck!
Hi Brianna! You know I have a job interview for a secretarial job next week and I was searching youtube for interview tips, that's how I ended up watching your video. I liked your story and watched the whole video till the end. You know, I totally can relate being dumb when feeling anxious. I tend to do and say pretty dumb things when I'm stressed too (For example, once I made a car accident while visiting my father's friend. After the police came and left, my father insisted to visit his friend, but I was so anxious and I didn't want to go. Anyway, we went to my father friend's house and I was really nervous and stressed and not thinking clearly, I parked the car in front of the house, and we went inside. The thing is, I forgot to turn off the car! The car and the lights were on for a whole two hours and I didn't realize it until we were leaving.)
First of all, thank you for sharing your own experience at work. I just got hired as a hotel receptionist last week and I´m really nervous because I have no experience as well. This video gave me some insight of what might happen and it´s actually useful!
I do dumb stuff when I'm nervous too. My last job they made me so nervous and made fun of me. One guy ended up bullying me. I had to quit. So, don't feel bad.
I just started a new job where they have me work front desk as the receptionist and its so crazy busy, I did an amazing job handling everything... but I do one little thing wrong and got yelled at and just cause I ask a question they would say I told you already remember?!? being all rude and its like obviously I don't fucking remember that's why im asking. there are so many new things to remember and I was doing an amazing job learning so many new things my first time as a receptionist but got treated like im stupid. I started crying I got so upset cause I was doing my best and felt so confident at how fast I was learning but got yelled at for not remembering how to do one little thing right away I just needed time to think about it and remember how to do it. I don't know how people can be so mean. I would never treat someone at a new job like that I would be so kind and helpful.
Brianna I saw your video before my first day working as a receptionist, I thought nothing similar could happen to me, you were working in a hotel with a lot of rooms and I am working in a simple hostel, well.. the computer broke and I have no idea what to do 😂 thanks for sharing
Lindsay Louis my first day of being a front desk agent is tjis week! (first ever too) I'm nervous af but I'm excited to start a new adventure in the hospitality industry other than housekeeping lol. Good luck to you girl!
I liked your video very much because you are so straight forward and honest about it. After all, it is normal to make mistakes when you are new at a job.You are not born with all that knowledge and if you don't get training how are you supposed to know all those thibgs?!I am a receptionist too and I have made similar mistakes too! Thanks for sharing! Greetings from Portugal! 🇵🇹
Tomorrow is my first day as a receptionist/ toddler teacher and I’m so nervous. The fact that I’m watching videos about being a receptionist I’m like omg they don’t train so now I’m extra nervous. Pray for me cause this is a good job and I don’t want to mess up. I pray I soak up as much knowledge as possible to learn the job so I can stay working there. I haven’t started so I’m going to be positive and as calm as possible. 😭😩🤦🏾♀️
Going for an interview for hotel clerk tmrw & this will be my first time having a job outside of being a cashier so I needed a vid to kind of know what im expecting. Your story made me laugh soo much bc that's exactly how I am too when im nervous lol & yes I watched till the end :)
I know it's 2019 now but I just found your video and it has me laughing so much on a tough day. Those moments are the worst to live but then hilarious down the road haha
Thank you so much for making this video. I also do dumb stuff and ask obvious questions when I’m nervous. People have been condescending, too, but watching this made me feel a bit better.
Dont worry sweetie , we all have days like that. My first time at Amazon delivery driver, I got locked in a public restroom, I disorganized the packages when i was delivering them, I fall backwards stepping ou of the amazon truck and package went up in the air like in the movies. A lady yelled at me cause i rang doorbell. It rained on me and I got wet and finally A dog came up to me as I was retrieving packages from back of truck and he peed on me. I wasnt trained and someone had to come finish my truck . I was let go
Thank you for sharing this! Good to know that I'm not the only one who has a hard time with anxiety during the first day on the job. You're gorgeous btw! ☺️
That's fantastic video! You gave me courage to actually go fo it as I've never been a receptionist before and I was really nervous to even apply for it. I've watched till the very end :) Thank you for sharing it's so helpful
That was a funny story, I know how nerve-wracking the first day on a job can be when you don't know what to do. If i had been in your shoes I would have felt really guilty over the lady in room 207, like maybe I scared her and caused her to hurt herself... on the other hand, maybe you going in to the room was a good thing, maybe she needed the presence of someone at that moment. Life is mysterious like that sometimes.. thanks for sharing 😊
Yea Im still watching :) i am a good listener!!! Im glad I clicked on your video because I thought I am the only one who makes mistakes when become anxious!!! You are not alone ofcourse starting a new job specially as receptionist or whatever related at office it takes a lot of responsibilities and most of the time you work independently there is NO team. Also sometimes you are afraid to ask question because people expect you to know all or sometimes they are not enough polite to show you everything thats the reason you feel anxious. But trust me stress goes away by the time almost after 2 to 3 months. You need to make space on every new place when you start work. :)
You are great I loved this. I have never been a receptionist and I have a job interview coming up this next week. It's inspiring that you went in with no training did the best you could and still they liked you and wanted you. I wish you talked more about the phone calls and how you conducted the conversations But ur awesome girly
I am currently struggling to find a company for my internship program placement and it has been a very stressful day indeed as one of my family members just passed away yesterday. However watching this video does make me happy and make me smile. Thank you
LOL, just came across this video because I saw a position for a receptionist and I was wondering how It might be. This covers a lot of info and I appreciate you making this video
💜💗❤️This is very entertaining 💜💗❤️ But realistic!!!! I enjoyed this thoroughly and can relate on most of this experience ! Your awesome ! Thanks for this 🌸
I think you did a Great Job, You didn't Panic! :-) Thanks for sharing I learned a lot. They really should have had a supervisor there to help you get started. I am looking for a Receptionist Job and this was a great help. Thanks again, Tammie Cole
Haha. I remember working for the temp. services as a receptionist. I started in filing and did a great job filing, but then they started sending me as a receptionist to different places over and over again. I was a male in my thirties, so I was like to myself, "Why do you guys keep sending me out as a receptionist? Why not in the back office?" It was kind of funny. I was a receptionist for all kinds of companies, so yeah I understand about being clueless because you're thrown into a situation like that. You made it through is all that matters. :) Edit: I just noticed this was an old video. How did it turn out? Did you get more receptionist experience?
I'm gonna work soon and I get really nervous about to start something new too. Like sleeping gets hard too. Thank you for sharing, I thought my struggle was weird
The Elevator story :D I'm about to start working as a hotel receptionist and I have no experience working in a job like this, so I hope they don't let me start working without some trainining, or else similar 'adventures' to yours will happen with me... :D Thanks for sharing your experience :)
My first time working as a receptionist is in a nursing home. an extremely UNDERSTAFFED one. if anyone has ever worked in a nursing home you can just imagine how crazy and stressful It would be to learn while its busy non stop all day. I would get 3 or 4 phone calls at the same time non stop the whole day. I could barely even get a chance to breathe.
Lmao this had me cackling 😂 and you don’t have to be blonde to have blonde moments lol I’m trying to find a job as a receptionist. I’ve never been one before but Ik it pays decently and they’ll take you if you have customer service experience
BriannasPlanet Hey! I subbed, "Are you still watching this?!" *she states with wide eye's with an overwhelming sense of amazement* Haha you are funny!! Yes, I was still watching, how could one not? You are simply captivating, so less of the amazement at the prospect that some may still be watching please? :) believe in your captivating presence and natural humour you effortlessly and seemingly unintentionally convey!! Keep making videos...
im barely 19 and im already in charge of my hotel ,idk how the fuck did i managed to do this i stay the nights and do the audits , this will look great on my resume
Ricardo Uzumaki I am one of the front desk managers at my hotel, and I am 30 it will look good on a resume! Been there a year and a half! I love my job! I think it’s the people that keep me going!
I’m a two day old medical receptionist. I haven’t been able to answer phones due to login issues but I’m nervous about that. I can relate to your anxiety completely.
Update : I cried on day 6? 7? Anxiety was at an all time high. I felt like everyone was mad at me for the questions I was asking. But now I’m on day 15? And I had a great day. Little to no help. I was able to do things correctly and successfully answer patient questions without bothering others. I hope it continues to get better .
Elizabeth Martinez PLEASE hang in there ! It’s gotten better and a bit easier! My tip to you, if you have to cry, do it! Don’t be afraid to ask as many questions as you need. Better for you to ask the same question than to make a mistake ( well, to me ) do whatever you do to calm / overcome your anxiety! Take a trip to the bathroom or something. And last but not least, if you’re that kind of person, take notes. I have notes E V E R Y W H E R E !
Oh my goodness....THIS is the crap that I do as well!!!!! X'D Thank you so much for sharing this. LOL. Yeah, that sounds scary. o.o Poor woman. That was a first crazy couple days. :P I notice this is 2016, gonna check to see what happened afterwards now. lol.
I applied for a receptionist job so now I’m just trying to find out what you actually do on the job, I loved your story I feel like that will be me but worse 😭
Great video x you are awesome👍 bit strange how you got no training for the job, shouldn't that ring alarm bells regarding the agency? There should always be a supervisor on site 24/7. Anyways for coping well in a difficult situation
Wowww u didn’t get any training ?? And my temp agency called me about a receptionist job 🙄 I have an interview for it tomorrow but I don’t want to do it because I have bad anxiety I’m scared me and you’re so similar, do you still work there ??
It's totally normal to feel anxious and nervous in the first time job. We ALL go thru that. As the days go by, the better will be and more confident you will feel.
Thanks... I needed that😥🤗
I act so stupid when I'm nervous, also. it only gets worse when people treat you with a degrading tone, which is common because people are unforgiving. I know I'm not stupid, but sometimes (especially with no experience) I do stupid shit and people get the wrong idea about me. ugh!

Yeah that's right
God...im gonna start first day next week. Lol good luck to me😅
Me too!
NeonFluffyCakes same...

Today is my first day as a receptionist at a dentist office, I watched this for encouragement thank you for your story💖💖💖💖💖
Emily Norris is it hard?
Today is my 3rd day as a vet receptionist, this video sounds like me, act and sound so stupid as I'm new and don't know anything. Hope you are doing an amazing job at the dental office!
@@sarah9330 how are you doing in the office?
Hey! How did you find this position? Did you just walk in the dentist office and asked if they were hiring ?
How is it going? Any tips for me, I'll be in a chiropractic's office?
I worked as a receptionist in property management and it can be super rough. That’s awful that they didn’t even train you or have someone as your liaison. I hated working at the vet clinic, they put me out on my own.
My anxiety was thru the roof.
Too fast paced
Sweetie, you are an example of "not all heroes wear capes"... It is very often that people tend to think it's only THEM being awkward. Thank you for sharing your story with the rest of US "walking embarrassment's" :-)
The Elevator Story was extremely funny, lmao. I have spent over 4 months looking for jobs and it was frustrated. This video boosted me up and brought some fun to me.
This is golden lol from one social anxiety effected human to another this was informal haha
I enjoyed hearing about your receptionist experience. I have been through that same thing. Still watching it 7 years later apparently. I am going to apply for a receptionist job and i have no idea what its like, so i clicked on your video.
Hiii how did ur job go??? I'm new to this
I got an interview in 2 days for receptionist and im shitting bricks but watching this made me feel slightly better lol
Just found your comment. What job did u end up getting?
You eased my anxiety a little bit. Thanks girl.
So I was just searching for receptionist skills sort of videos, when I saw this one under suggestions. For some reason I had a feeling that I needed to check it out because something told me it would be funny but also that I might learn something from another's experience.

Really. It's very exciting moment. I also now working as a trainee Receptionist at the Hotel. Yes. some outlet guest asking difference questions from me to get thiers needs. This very important thing is we must be strong and do face all the questions. 👍 Thanks for sharing for us yours experiences.
LOL I'm glad I clicked on this video...hilarious! This is definetly me when I'm nervous. Glad I'm not the only one. 😂
Every first day is crazy, lol. Mine is better a bit but receptionist is a great job, I love what I do everyday!
u walking in that room by accident was a good thing cause at least u knew right away what direction to send those firemen.
Minerva Sanchez right lol 😂
Good luck!
Melissa Stevens congrats! I got the job two!!!
Too*
Wanda Bortnyak yayy that's awesome! Congrats 😊
It's such a great feeling!
Hi Brianna! You know I have a job interview for a secretarial job next week and I was searching youtube for interview tips, that's how I ended up watching your video. Love the story, seems like all receptionist jobs are the same stress at the begining.
Why is this so relatable 😂 I get so nervous to!
Is being a front desk needs to do like (cashier ) u know something to do with math?
This is hilarious. Yes, I watched the whole thing and I swear you sound like the voice in my head lol! I'm the exact same way
I liked your video very much because you are so straight forward and honest about it. I recognize myself a lot in your experience, and in the way we feel dumb when we start a new job ^^
I know it's 2019 now but I just found your video and it has me laughing so much on a tough day. Those moments are the worst to live but then hilarious down the road haha

watch this video in 2019 . tomorrow is my turn as front desk . geez .
@Silver. why?
That was a funny story, I know how nerve-wracking the first day on a job can be when you don't know what to do. Thinking of going for a receptionist job part time. Seems very eventful and thanks for giving me such an insight to it.
I also started as a receptionist n i felt so intimidated at first but now i am getting use to it.
You're wat to cute! lol I am so glad to know that I am not the only one that gets clumsy when anxious or nervous :)
Omg I love it! 🤣🤣🤣 😂 This makes me feel better. I can relate so much

nice story >> i liked it i like your way telling your story
Omg! That's awesome! I'm so nervous because I'm not use to the opera system that the regular hotel system use. I just hope I can get the hang of it!
Danny Lin it took me a year to get the hang of opera, and now we have a new system which is easier than opera in my opinion
In the beg. I was like girl needs to get to the pt. I couldn't stop laughing from the pt. of the elevator. I get nervous too! lol! You're funny! 😂😆
Edit: I just noticed this was an old video. How did it turn out? Did you get more receptionist experience?
thanks for sharing your experience, i'm going to start as a receptionist too and i'm so anxious 😂
I enjoyed your account of getting this job and your first day there. How is your career path now in 2024?
I'm gonna work soon and I get really nervous about to start something new too. Like sleeping gets hard too. Thank you for sharing, I thought my struggle was weird
The Elevator story :D I'm about to start working as a hotel receptionist and I have no experience working in a job like this, so I hope they don't let me start working without some trainining, or else similar 'adventures' to yours will happen with me... :D Thanks for sharing your experience :)
Thanks for sharing. This is something that would happen to me. It's nerve-wracking being new on a job!
I loved your storyc🙏🏻👍👍☺️
Lmao this had me cackling 😂 and you don’t have to be blonde to have blonde moments lol I’m trying to find a job as a receptionist. I’ve never been one before but Ik it pays decently and they’ll take you if you have customer service experience
I watched the whole video!
❤️💕❤️
Fantastic, I was on a downer tonight then came across this and my word it cheered me up no end thanks, oh and a great accent also.
I watched all the video, Brianna xD I really like your videos :3 I hope you have better days in your job :3
Aww thank you! It's getting better but I still mess up sometimes lol. I appreciate the support :)
Thanks for this!!
Are they recruiting right now?
im barely 19 and im already in charge of my hotel ,idk how the fuck did i managed to do this i stay the nights and do the audits , this will look great on my resume
Tornado Inspector WOW! Thats good!! how was your experience applying there?? (:
Ricardo Uzumaki I am one of the front desk managers at my hotel, and I am 30 it will look good on a resume! Been there a year and a half! I love my job! I think it’s the people that keep me going!
your story made me smile thanks for sharing :)
Roxky hi! Has it got easier? I just finished my first week and and i cried on day four lol. I dont know if i will ever get a hang of it 😭
Elizabeth Martinez PLEASE hang in there !
:P I notice this is 2016, gonna check to see what happened afterwards now. lol.

Great video x you are awesome👍 bit strange how you got no training for the job, shouldn't that ring alarm bells regarding the agency? There should always be a supervisor on site 24/7. Anyways for coping well in a difficult situation
Thank you for telling us your experience! It definetly puts us at ease.
Ohhh I didn't realise that I'm 3 years late Pffff 😒
