I had an interest in Sol Cresta because I thought "Oh Hideki Kamiya directing a shoot em up? That sounds like it will be good, I'll wait till it's out." Seeing how passionate Kamiya is about Cresta and that type of game as a whole is really inspiring and now I can't wait for it. He's one of my favorite game directors (even though he blocked me on Twitter but is what it is lol) and this series has been amazing!
I really appreciate you guys putting together this Chronicles series about Kamiya's history! I hope you'll have another one of him once the other projects he has cooking up release, so we can learn about the process.
I don't even doubt Sol Cresta being great. Kamiya is this beautiful example of a guy who just loves playing games *actually making games he'd love playing himself* . It's this amazing concentrated feedback loop that ends up benefiting us, the players. This is quite literally a dream for video game developers all around the world, who end up having to work on shit the publisher demands them to work on and do it in the way that will maximize profit, not player enjoyement. I am still sad to inform him that The Wonderul 101 is *still* his very best game he's directed to date. That is saying a lot, but I have this immensely horrified feeling it might end up the very highest point of his career. I beg to be wrong about this and hope Project G.G. blows me the hell away.
Excellent documentary, I congratulate you. Thank you very much for the interview with Hideki Kamiya. After so many years now I really know why he puts ship and 2D levels in his creations. Best regards.
I have a feeling PG+ will present a little something at TGA in a few days. This Kamiya chronicles ending this week doesn't look random at all. Hoping I'm right about this assumption.
Kamiya is one of my favorite game directors, in large part due to Devil May Cry. Veterans like him are the last true beacons within the gaming industry, an industry that's losing spirit and declining in quality due to corporate greed, especially in the western world. Financing unique games is riskier than ever, hence franchise milking continues. Games need to go back to their roots, but still offer an unique experience. No microtransactions, no lootboxes, no content layers, just one bang-for-your-buck package.
Like always amazing video. Only the mixing of the volume of speech and the ambient music is in some parts very unbalanced so that you can't clearly listen to the spoken. Especially hard as a native Japanese (or someone who just doesn't need the subs). If this get's fixed in the future your videos are a clear 10/10. 👍
Incredible documentary series! Thanks a lot for your hard work. It's a pity that Sol Cresta got delayed but I'm really looking forward to it and I can't wait to see what else Kamiya and Platinum is planning for their Neo Classic Arcade series.
English, Portuguese (BR) and Russian subtitles are available under the "CC" menu. Thank you for following Cutscenes!

He blocked me too after I complimented Bayonetta lol

I love Kamiya so much... Great documentary
ムーンクレスタの画面すごい綺麗。ソルクレスタにも色の鮮やかさがしっかり継承されている。 ”ソル”クレスタってシリーズにすごい綺麗にはまる構図で熱い。
If you've never played The Wonderful 101, you have no idea how funny it is that he almost forgot there are shooting sections in it.
Really enjoyed this interview, pretty good choice for background music too, was relaxing at the same time that it gave Kamiya a sort of mystic vibe.

What an incredible series of videos. Thanks so much for creating these.

This is why Indie games have had such a big boom in the market the last 10 years
I love these videos, I love the games Platinum Games makes, and I love Kamiya's attitude and passion for games!
ありがとうございました!
ロングインタビュー最高でした!
Thank you. You have done an incredible work.
Sol Cresta is great
great set of interviews
Watched all all the other interviews, luckily this one is out =)

After seeing he'd like to do action platform shooters, I really hope Konami let him do his own spin on Contra.
Is it likely for you to do an interview with Tomonobu Itagaki at some point?
Maybe once the game he's been working on at his new studio gets announced/released
Thanks for this
I’d like to say that Panzer Dragoon for the Sega Saturn is a ‘3D Shmup’ - probably one of the first!
tnx for sharing
is that Hidetaka Miyazaki ? 6:36
No.
Sadly, no mention of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance in any of these videos.
Kamiya had no involvement in that.
