This may well be the reason why I find that I‘m more consistent when I play slower. Now I just need to keep my rhythm and not accelerate again after a leg or two. Thanks, great input to consider - loving this series and the extremely valuable advice!
Totally agree. I always find im more consistent with the first 12 darts or so. Then once i feel comfortable. the darts start to stray. Cant wait to log this one in the "101" things to think about whilst throwing darts 😅. Cheers guys 👍
This one small thing could equal so many more wins for an average player like myself. Replacing just half of my 5s and 1s with 20s would put me into the next tier.
If you wait for the dart to hit the board until you move your arm to collect your next dart, and your follow through is good, it will feel like you are Rob Cross.
Very helpful! I also noticed I was holding my darts too far back and when I hold them more forward, more in front of me, I rotate much less when grabbing the next dart and have reduced dragging darts a lot.
Good video keep them coming I'd like to see the angle you take a dart out of the serve hand to rotating it for open hand postion or am I over thinking it
5s is what lets my game down and i put it down to my arm naturally wanting to go over there and ive tried moving more right but that doesn't fix it so this video is very welcomed thankyou
I always joke that treble 12 is my cover shot! Instead of 19s. Sometimes I'm flabbergasted that I can hit treble 12 aiming for treble 20. I'll try this 😂
I’m right handed. I hit a lot of 5’s and 1’s. I can feel my thumb pushing to the right as I throw. I slop a lot into the treble 18’s. My arm gets all twisted up as I pull back. I can’t stop from putting shoulder into it for some reason as well as dropping my elbow. I used to hit lots of 180’s, now I’m lucky to get one per year. I’m trying to get used to throwing with my left hand. 😩
Also when u grab your 3rd dart leave that hand at your side like darts 1&2....see lots of players swing the left hand while throwing(for a right player and vice versa for lefties).
@@missiondarts But more seriously it seems like my problem stems from "lazy" throwing. When I pull back I pull it towards my left eye (dominant eye while right handed) and then when I follow through I follow to the right which then makes the dart pull to the 1s even though I'm aiming at the 20s. I really noticed my bad habit after I went from a 26g straight barrel to Darryl Fitton's 22g darts. I’d love to see a video on being cross-dominant. It would be great to hear a better way to throw considering Andy’s insights from observing thousands of people throw, combined with Matt’s expertise in sports science, and your guys’ playing experience. A deep dive into how cross-dominant players can throw darts better would be great👍
I seem to have an opposite problem. My darts tend to go right, into the 1 section and sometimes as bad as the 18. What could I be doing wrong in my delivery etc.? Possibly releasing too early?
@ eh, helped me to develop follow through and I’ve suggested it to a few other guys that it’s helped. Obviously if it becomes a mental preoccupation it isn’t a cue for you. This is for people who short arm there throw. I’ve seen people barely break 90 in there elbow with there follow through.
Yeah I thought about this the other day, although im left handed, soooo yeah I hit a quadrillion ones because of this and still do, but I try my best to not do it.
This is a great series and very good information but you guys really need to talk to the camera and not each other side on. It’s such an odd viewing experience in this format.
It's little things like this we amateurs don't realise, Great tip love the series.
I love this series! It's exactly what I've been looking for, just the rudiments of properly throwing a dart. Thank you!
Makes perfect sense!!! Follow through and complete the action..very similar to snooker.

Andy taught me this about 2 weeks ago when I went for lessons from him, highly recommended
Thanks Scott :)
Very helpful video, I have been doing this without noticing and now I know what to change
Very good point
such a simple thing can change your throw, will defo try this.

he does alright :)
Great series , love the channel :)
thank you

This is the best tip so far!
Glad you think so!
Please can you do a video about hitting 1s especially with the last dart I'm right handed and the amount of times I hit 41 or 121 or 81 is annoying
I’m exactly the same 🤦🏼♂️

Same here mate. Sometimes I’ll even hit 12 and lose my mind 😂

🤯never considered this, just know already I do this too often
Glad you enjoyed it

I hope next video is how to stop pulling to the right that's my issue into 1 and 18s
Stupid question, but how do you aim? Where do you bring the dart to and how high should the elbow be when throwing? Thanks!
Thanks for this but I don’t do that, instead I hit a ridiculous amount of 1’s. Can you do vid for possible cures for that please?
Will do!
@@missiondarts Happy new year
Thank u
So if I do what I'm NOT recommended by Matt and Andy in this video maybe I will turn all my 1s into 20s😂Love the series, keep up the good work👍
Go for it!.....thanks

When I started someone told me (as a right handed person) throw and touch the outside of your right thigh to ensure follow through.
nonsense

Professional players that walk on dart 3 drives me absolutely insane !!!!!
You should write a book.
Yeah I thought about this the other day, although im left handed, soooo yeah I hit a quadrillion ones because of this and still do, but I try my best to not do it.
This is me
as a right hand you hit the 5 and as a left hand you hit the 1
I hit a lot of 5s. I also hit a lot of 1s. I think overall I'm just a bit rubbish 😂
Not an easy game...
my darts go more to right in 1s😢

It's my last dart that goes left or right🙈😂
just play with 2
Nonsense...thee is no right or wrong way
So which part of this video did you disagree with particularly?
