As I get older, I lean more and more towards the RPG 'experience', as opposed to the 'go to marker A, shoot some things, go to the next marker' of linear shooters. This looks likely to take me further into the lean
Completely agree but I have no patience so I will be the one leaving review first week 😂. I was pre-ordering games from Bethesda, what can be worse? (I did ban Bethesda is my books. Pirate life is the way here🦜🏴☠️ YOHOHO and stream of torrent )
@@ShoddyLegion I don't do multiplayer, and single player campaigns are simply not worth the money now being asked. MW2 lasted around 6 hours. I've put over 100 into Starfield and countless into Cyberpunk. If they released Campaign Only Versions at a (substantially) lower price point, then maybe I'll reconsider buying them again
Yep, when I saw the delays, and recent Ubisoft games, I wrote this off as 'it's gonna be boring and very very subpar', but after seeing different youtubers play it, I am actually quite excited. It still has the ubisoft open world aspects, but it feels like a more fleshed out far cry primal, which I loved despite it being a spin off.
As someone who's loved Avatar since the first movie first came out, I'm super excited about this game. Ubisoft be damned I'll buy this game and do everything possible
@Variapolis I completely agree. People are heavy on the Ubisoft aspect, honestly me included, but I have genuine faith in this one. I don't believe it'll be the same cookie cutter Far Cry game we've gotten in years past
the looting minigame is neat and different but how many times do you want to do that mechanic while looting bushes, plants etc? it will get stale quick and probably moded out like in starfields lockpicking.
That depends. Starfields lock picking requires you to be like, thinking about it a bunch and it takes a long time, especially for higher level locks. Conversely, the harvesting thing looks a lot simpler and quicker. It looks like you could get it done in less than a second if you're good at it. However, we don't know yet. Have high hopes, but low expectations.
This is the first preview Ive watched and so far this puts it on my list too, but firmly on the same list with all Ubisoft games: "Games Best Bought On Sale"
Bit offtop but I have a question, are you going to play The Invincible from Starward Industries? That game looks wild. It's atom-punk, retro futuristic, highly stylised puzzle game(?) I guess
Im gonna hold off until this actually releases. Given that they flew him out and likely also paid for his hotel, let him in their studio, and let him play their game, Its expected he's naturally going to say mostly good things. I dont trust it.
Man, I'm a native Swede, move to the US at 9 and now live in Australia with my wife and 5 kids. But man, I wouldn't want to be Sweden these days, it's not what it once was. As for the game, it looks okay, I don't trust anything Ubisoft, but congrats on the opportunity.
Yah, for me if the story isn't very good, I wouldn't enjoy it that much. So hopefully they make it so you meet interesting characters and has an interesting story. Running around doing random things is only fun for a little while.
i am so glad this is getting a possative response from almost everyone. as it deserves it ,this is not a cash grab on the franchise but a fully fleashed out game they have put a lot of work and thought into. but i was sold as soon as the first real trailer came out showing game footage. i dont care if it was called far cry 6 as its different enough from all the others.
I share your enthusiasm for the films, but this looks like far cry game and not game made for the world of pandora. So I think this will be that kind of experience of yeah it's neat but will fall off really quick by copy and paste content. I still want it to be good but not holding my hopes up.
It's pretty weird because my most to anticipated games are not even from a developer it's actually from Mars Beyond Skyrim anything from it and skyblivion I would also say skywind as well but yeah I am looking forward to them more than anything else now that's saying something about the game industry and where it's heading that people are actually more interested in a mod than a real retail game
Its just another reskin of Far Cry with some new mechanics but mostly it has the exact same stuff and that's why it gets boring quickly. It's the same game. It's just wearing a new coat.
I'm not a fan of Avatar - at all. However. I love Far Cry 4 and 5 because of how organic it felt exploring, FC4 more so than 5. These are two of my top favorite open world games. So if I can have those quiet, peaceful moments of just climbing down a random cavern that you find randomly while exploring, this is a day one purchase.
Had it pre-ordered since it was announced. Avatar is one of my favourite franchises and with Ubisoft making the game and it having a Far Cry gameplay vibe I was sold instantly. Also glad they focussed big on the music. The soundtracks for both movies and other media are some of my all time favourite.
One of the problems I see is it is not like in the movie. They had to thin things out a bit so your computer would not explode basically. They also used a bunch of stock assets... Earth plants and trees with only a few Pandora specific plants mixed in. It just did not have the feel on the world from the first movie (I have not seen the second). Not sure about the guns either. Even they were used in parts of the end battle and a few other spots, gun were NOT the main focus. It sounds like the collecting of plants and animals is pretty satisfying so I think they should have focused on that. Maybe they do as these are pre-saved games in specific spots to show it off. Maybe the guns are very late game. While I liked the first movie there was one thing that pissed me off. Yes it was a basic Pocahontas story with the Avatar bodies and the handicapped stuff mixed in, but the setting was HEAVILY ripped off from Alan Dean Foster's Mid Flinx book (part of he Pip and Flinx story line in his very large Commonwealth series). They whole jungle world with advanced humans trying to survive and exploit the world and a native population with low tech. The race had bonds with the plants and animals and formed permanent bonds with creatures. They lived in the trees, the trees could communicate with each other like a planet sized mind. When people died their bodies were sealed into knots in the trees so the trees would absorb them... The similarities are just too much. This book was a New York Time Best Seller and Camron stated he was a sci-fi fan and likely would have read it. He also said he had been working on the story for something like 25 years but the technology was not good enough to show off his dreams. The book was released before this even. It is an obvious rip-off. He could have at least give a nod to him for inspiring him, but no... he gave no recognition and that bothers me. I have been reading all of Alan Dean's Commonwealth and a few other series since I was a teenager. He is probably in my top 5 author list. Sadly a lot of my favorite authors are dying off. It is sad really as few newer authors seem to write anywhere near as good of books. I do like Harry Potter (I do NOT like the movies... especially from 4 on), but Robert Jordan, Robert Asprin, Terry Goodkind, and my favorite author Terry Pratchett are all dead. There are likely others but since many no longer write I do not follow them as much. Alan Dean Foster is 77 now, Terry Brooks is 79, Raymond Feist is 78, L. E. Modesitt Jr. is 80... L. E. Modesitt Jr. is my second favorite author and he is still writing, but for how long?
