So glad to have found your review. Classical is very much my thing (about 80-90% of my listening) and so it was really great to hear your perspective on these speakers with regard to classical -- music to my ears (already)! I just ordered a pair each of Dali Spektors 1 & 2 and have come to realise that as my present 5.1 inch speakers were never really powerful enough, the Spektor 2's (exactly the same size) are probably not likely to be either! Hence my new quest for 7 inch woofer speakers. I've also ordered a Cambridge Audio AXR100D, which I'm hoping will be compatible (?). Obviously your review is now 4 years ago -- are these still the go-to speakers for classical at this price point? 🤔 Anyway thanks for a great review. Subbed!
Love your passion about speakers, your professional review contributes a lot in buying the right speakers. Will you please review the Edifier S3000 pro before I will consider buying them.
Thank You, I was looking for a forward sounding speaker, I have Klipch in one room and i wanted to try another flavor my in second room. Your review answers my question, only thing it missed on was magnetic grill.. All speakers should have that :)
I heard these the other day and was very impressed. They were running with a Marantz pm6006uk (this means tuned for UK market) and a Cambridge audio streamer with Tidal as a source. I'm going to buy the Marantz and it'll be interesting what it will sound like with my Elac debut b5 (mk i) which have served me brilliantly and to my ears sound better than so many speakers around the £300 mark. These, however, might have them finally beat and warrant an upgrade. Exciting times for affordable audio, that's for sure....
Hi Sean! Thank you for a brilliant and detailed review. I very grateful I've found your channel :) Hope you can make review on Opticon series one day. Cheers!
I have my dali 3 matched with the Roksan attessa streaming amp the sound is more than expected the Dalis need some good hours off running in but they just keep getting better ive put about 60 hrs on them and they are sounding sounding great with the Roksan
I am very interested in trying these, I have Triangle BR03`s that I really like, I have Triangle Comete EZs, but the BR03s sound better in my opinion, and is easier to place, probably because of the horn. I have tried Spektor 1s, and they sounded surprisingly good and is so easy to place, that I have a feeling the Oberon 3 must be much better from their size, but I have this feeling the DALI will lack some of what the Triangles has, so I will just end up back at the BR03s again... Oh, the choices..
I had a guy in a HiFi store show me the Dali Zensor 1’s but I’m sure this one only had 5” midrange/woofer and sounded much better with a subwoofer, because it really lacked in the low end range.
Dali Oberon first. No doubt. The Polk Signature line would be my second choice, even though it's pretty evenly matched against the Zensor. Ultimately, it'll just depend on what you're after.
@@MinasK.97 - As a whole, the Polk sound is warmer and punchier. The bass is stronger, albeit not quite as clean as the Oberon. That's the best generic summary that I can come up with. And it truly is generic. For an accurate summary of how the lines compare, you'd have to do model vs model, which is something I cannot do.
Hello! Is it possible for you to do a review of the B&W 606? They seem to be one of the best at their price point and its interesting how they compare to these.
I did listen to both of them and I will buy the Dali`s. IMO 606 has a generic tone, too much straightforward sound. I prefer the huge soundstage that Dali provides. But its a matter of personal taste.
I agree with Caio. The B&W 606s are really good speakers, fantastic for the price, they do nothing wrong to my ear. That being said, I find them very boring. They're very neutral(which gives you a good template for EQ if you like to mess with that), give good imaging and soundstage, but there's nothing "special" about them. They don't grab me, they're just there. I like a big 3D soundstage and bit of colour in the speaker, but if you want a very neutral speaker or to tailor the sound at the source B&Ws are great.
Just wondering how these compare to Dynaudio? They just came out with a new Emit and Evoke Line which is also very impressive, but more money. I would say the Emit line is more on line with this one.
I just purchased my first "hifi" system with these in the equation. I got the Cambridge AXR100 and a AT-LPW40 WN turntable. Looking forward to put them to test with all the records I've been hoarding through the years waiting the moment to make the investment lol.
The Callisto 6C was another surprise for me at AXPONA that I forgot to tell you about. They played and punched much higher than their humble specs suggested. They were demoing the passive versions alongside the 6C's with the NAD M10 as the primary amp and I was very disappointed with that setup, so much so that I ended up scratching the M10 off my shortlist for my next integrated. But really, would love to hear your thoughts on the 6C's if they ever 'cross your desk'. I know they aren't exactly 'audiophile' grade, but man they're fun sounding!
@@ZeroFidelity Ha, guilty as charged I'm afraid. But on the flip side, and even keeping in mind all the show shortcomings, if something sounds gutless, with a distinct Class-D sound signature, while the company reps proclaim better power & performance than other topologies, and it demonstrably fails to stand out amongst it's peers in a day of (rushed but diligent) listening sessions, then me thinks the criticism is warranted, just as praise is due when something DOES manage to stand out at the same show (like the little Maggies or the Buchardt S400's & the Odyssey Lorelei's did for me when it came to speakers in that price range). Which is why I went ahead and ordered a pair of the new LRS :) (you knew I would). All that said, I trust your ears and experience FAR more than my own, so always curious to get your take on it all. Keep the solid reviews & collaborations coming brother and hope to see you again at the next one.... PS - Do more joint videos with Ron, he seems to talk a lot faster (er, normal pace) with you in the room
@@itsbaz - I really wish we had more time to chill. That said, I'm happy our paths crossed once again. Next time, you'll have to bring the lady along! As for NAD: I'd need to spend personal time with their latest Class-D wares in order to have an opinion that's worth a sh*t. That said, I'd be genuinely surprised if I end up liking the new stuff as much as I did the original class A/B M3 integrated. And hah: Ron is off to the races man. The reception to the videos that he posted inspired him big time. He is now looking to interview as many YT personalities as he can - with the goal of cultivating a community. This is something that I've wanted to do for years - even making half-assed attempts to do so both on here and behind the scenes. Ron is the one who can genuinely make it happen though - so I look forward to what the future brings.
This video really makes me wonder how this DALI Oberon 3 sounds compared to Sound Artist LS3/5a. I've heard neither of them, but I kind of have a feeling that they would sound similar.
Could you recommend some apm for these speakers, I would like to add a subwoofer too. Better these or the fives of klipsch?. The klipsch ones, due to their connectivity and pug and play, really catch my attention; i was thinking about them buy with the klipsch R - 120 sw subwoofer. What I chose was my first contact with a good sound, what do you recommend?

Thanks.. great review... can you please consider reviewing the new PBS Alpha T20 mini towers? I just picked some up and am impressed thus far. A lot of speaker for the small footprint and cost and I think your viewers would dig it.
I appreciate the suggestion. There are loose plans to bring in a pair of PSBs sometime in the near future. I think they want coverage on the new Alpha bookies though. I suppose we'll see what ultimately lands at Casa Del Zero. Meanwhile - enjoy those T20's!
Nice vid ! I love my Oberon 3s. But you must really put the grills on for best sound. Who knows about the perfect distance to the wall ?I have 23.6 inch from box front to the wall Thanks for all your input.
Vinyl wraps have gotten much better over the years. I wonder if there is a company in China that somehow figured out how to do it and their all buying it from them.
Recently discovered your channel and I am glad I did. Great style and some really great finds! Doing reviews on high fidelity is difficult enough on this medium but reviews you can believe in greatly assist in choosing equipment. I am planning a new "BUDGET" (3-4 K USD?) system in a few months when I relocate to Bangkok, Thailand. From what I gathered and seen from my research there isn't an abundance of (2 channel) audio stores in Bangkok. I will likely do a trip to Singapore for my audio shopping. Anyone with recommendations for shops in Bangkok are appreciated!
I have the original PSB Alpha's and the matching center channel. for my home theater. They sound great but I have the itch to buy a new set. At the time they sounded the best to me, even compared with the Paradigm and B&W comparable products as I was able to listen to all three in an audio store in NYC. Now I was looking to maybe upgrade and wonder what I should get? You can't go to an audio store and hear all of these in comparison anymore, so it is very difficult to know which sounds best. I need a pair of bookshelf speakers and a center channel as I have in-wall mounted Sonnace speakers for surround and a definitive sub-woofer (my PSB 5i had to be repolaced!). Any thoughts? Do I just go with the PSB P5s? I don't want to spend more than $1000 on the three speakers.
I didn't find that step to be necessary 99% of the time. Granted, I confess to not giving that a shot once they began exhibiting that behavior on the NAD.
Thank you for the review. I have been trying to choose between the Svs ultra bookshelf and these Dali bookshelf. You have reviewed both is it possible to express your thoughts on one verse the other Thank you for your input.
Conspiracy Theory: M-Audio M3-8's - Nobody will review them... I love 'em, a good 3-way setup for $500-$700. 200 watts / Tri-Amped.... yet.... when it comes to the reviewers... Crickets/nothing.
There's no conspiracy. M-Audio simply isn't seeking many reviews on em'. They are always welcome to send a set my way if they were ever interested in doing so.
Those speakers are great and now they cost only £499 in uk😁😁😁😁great video Price update after covid £599 for a pair now🥴 They sound fantastic with Marantz nr1711 after audyssey mic calibration❤❤❤❤
It's slightly beyond average in that regard. You do get a soundstage that is relatively layered, which becomes most noticeable with jazz and classical. Still, if you're a hound for image depth, then you may have to spend a bit more cash.
I have the Dali Zensor 3 and I'm very happy with their airy presentation, I auditioned a dozen of speakers including ELACs, Klipsh & Monitor Audio, and these had the most "magic" for 280 EUR. I don't think they're the most accurate, allthough they're not bad, but their twitter does soundstage so well I just had to buy them! My problem is that I don't have a working amplifier currently, judging from reviews alone I am torn between the Marantz PM6006, the Denon PMA 800NE or the IOTAVX SA3. Can anybody help me? I appreciate any input :)
Hi Amir l m from Turkey. l m fully trust your choose and descriptions. l have limited bdged so Which one would you choose between oberon 3 and polk es20 ? Thanks s lot!
Awesome job Sean ! I've been looking for a good budget amp either I can get a emotivia bas x 300 new or a used onkyo intergra 504 i know this is off the subject of video your input would be greatly appreciated
Do you know a good service tech? If not, are you capable of running diagnostics or replacing parts? If you are, then the Oinker could be a lot of fun. If you aren't, then go with the Bas X300.
I really liked the comparison part. The klipsch is a fantastic “standard” since it’s such a common speaker. Even if you don’t like klipsch, odds are that you’ve at least heard them. Personally, I love the klipsch sound. My RP-500m with a small sub is nothing short of amazing. But that’s where my question begins. I’m still trying to wrap my brain around all this, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I think I heard on one review that receivers (like my home theater Yamaha Aventage) use a Low Pass Filter to redirect the low frequencies to a subwoofer when one is present? Does that mean the bass concerns you had with these DALI speakers might not be present if you were planning to use them with a sub? Am I understanding that right?
If you set the crossover point to 80Hz (or somewhere in this area), then yes, the bass concerns that I reported can be mitigated. Note however, as said in the video, that it hinges largely on the gear that you pair the speakers up to.
Really nice review! I have a question... I need to set a pair of Dali Oberon 3 up on shelves at around 2 meters high. I have to be a bit creative. What would you think of powering these with an Arylic A50?
Yo Bro, glad to bought and review all this affordable speaker lately...from klipsch , svs, to this......i have been followup your review lately...hahahaha. And its really good to do comparison to other product, not in defining which is better but rather letting viewer know what it really does. BTW, will it work as a surround speaker that pair with Klipsch RP front speaker? thinking of using it as such because of the wide stage that might make surround sound more surround..what do u think of it? Does it play as loud as klipsch without going to distortion?
Thanks a lot for the video. Given that you have both the speakers that I am confused with, that is, this one and the B&W 607 S2 could you please help me out here? Which according to you is better and why?
Hey zero fidelity which would you prefer between a kef q 350 or dali oberon 3 need 1 to work with my Yamaha RX v6a looking to buy 1 but want bass n soundstaging n clarity in every note
That's a good question. So here's the thing: I cannot speak on Dali's behalf, but when I look at Dali drivers, I notice slivers of wooden strands throughout the cone. My guess is that the wood in the cone material isn't as 'broken down' as what you'll find in typical paper products. Then again. I could be full of sh*t.
Sean, the Polk Audio lsim703 bookshelf speakers can now be had for $600 a pair shipped. Is it safe to say that they are one of the best bargains right now for bookshelf speakers? Meaning overall what you're getting for the money.
Yeah. Polk Audio is practically pimp slapping the LSi out the door. While some people may *still* prefer the speakers mentioned in this video over the 703's for personal reasons, I think $600 for a set of 703's, new, with warranty, is a stupidly good deal.
ok so what about the person who is looking for a flatter, more neutral sound? I can't seem to find anything in the lower budget range for passive bookshelf speakers that aren't V shaped unless I go active studio monitors..
If you need a compact solution and cannot justify going with the 5's, then sure - they should be fine! Just don't expect earth shattering volume outta them!

Thanks for the replies. I have decided on the Denon avr-3500. I can get a good deal if I import.
Great job Sean thanks your part of the reason I started my own channel just love the audio equipment and the music both got the emotiva a300 and schiit modi 3 dac on its way can't wait ! my channel is more for bargin finds
Wish you the best of luck and success for your channel!
Subbed!
Excellent review! Got way more than I expected and really learned some!
All speakers should have that :)
yeah when I put my grills on my Rp160s it smooth the top end brightness
Bought a set today...awesome for the price
I heard these the other day and was very impressed. They were running with a Marantz pm6006uk (this means tuned for UK market) and a Cambridge audio streamer with Tidal as a source. I'm going to buy the Marantz and it'll be interesting what it will sound like with my Elac debut b5 (mk i) which have served me brilliantly and to my ears sound better than so many speakers around the £300 mark. These, however, might have them finally beat and warrant an upgrade. Exciting times for affordable audio, that's for sure....
how did you go? Did you get the Marantz? Is it powerful enough? Thank you!
Hi Sean! Thank you for a brilliant and detailed review. I very grateful I've found your channel :) Hope you can make review on Opticon series one day. Cheers!
How this compares to elac debut reference and triangles?
Dali Oberon vs Dali Zensor vs Polk Signature ?? Witch one sounds better?
I have the Polk s20 and Dali Zensor Pico
Dali Oberon first. No doubt. The Polk Signature line would be my second choice, even though it's pretty evenly matched against the Zensor. Ultimately, it'll just depend on what you're after.
@@ZeroFidelity How is Oberon's bass? Can it go as low as at Polk S?
@@MinasK.97 - As a whole, the Polk sound is warmer and punchier. The bass is stronger, albeit not quite as clean as the Oberon. That's the best generic summary that I can come up with. And it truly is generic. For an accurate summary of how the lines compare, you'd have to do model vs model, which is something I cannot do.
;)))
I loved the bonus section!
Good review Sean, thanks.
Just wondering how these compare to Dynaudio? They just came out with a new Emit and Evoke Line which is also very impressive, but more money. I would say the Emit line is more on line with this one.
Ive had emit m10 and 20, and also tested oberon 3 and 5. The emit m20 beats them all. An insane good speaker.
@@khallgrimsen thank you i was undecided between oberon 3 and emit m20 but you made it clear for me to pay $200 more for the emit m20
@@HyuLilium The Emit M20 is one of our all time favourite bookshelf speakers in that price point! Great choice!
I just purchased my first "hifi" system with these in the equation. I got the Cambridge AXR100 and a AT-LPW40 WN turntable. Looking forward to put them to test with all the records I've been hoarding through the years waiting the moment to make the investment lol.
How it sounds?
@@alexpal1495 I've been loving it, no complains.
I was thinking about getting the wharfdale Diamond 12.2 but can't find any good comparison between them and the Oberon 3
Hey Sean, thanks for the review. How would you compare this to the Triangle Borea BR03?
Nice review, all comes down to taste.
True dat!
Doooope your videos are pristine!
I had a pair of those Klipsch...I suffered from listening fatigue after 90 minutes
Many thanks for all your videos! I´m new to hifi and keep learning a lot from you
I have a pair of Oberon 3 connected to a NAD C316BEE v2, happy about it but considering changing to tubes amplifier (Cayin CS88A which is a KT88 2x48w). Do you think I´ll be able to obtain more from the Oberons or does it not make sense to you at all??
Thanks.. great review... can you please consider reviewing the new PBS Alpha T20 mini towers? I just picked some up and am impressed thus far. A lot of speaker for the small footprint and cost and I think your viewers would dig it.
I appreciate the suggestion. There are loose plans to bring in a pair of PSBs sometime in the near future. I think they want coverage on the new Alpha bookies though. I suppose we'll see what ultimately lands at Casa Del Zero. Meanwhile - enjoy those T20's!
@@ZeroFidelity Very cool! Thanks Sean
What Hi Fi just gave these 4 stars, the previous model got 5 stars, don’t know what they changed to downgrade them.
Probably a glitch on their site 😜
Nice vid ! I love my Oberon 3s. But you must really put the grills on for best sound. Who knows about the perfect distance to the wall ?I have 23.6 inch from box front to the wall Thanks for all your input.
@Zero Fidelity. I don't know if to buy the Edifier S2000 Pro or the Dali Zensor 1. Any recommendation?
What artist or CD of classical music recommend could use as a reference sound to evaluate speakers
Dali has a really cool audiophile mixtape disc available if you can manage to get your hands on that.
What is the best speaker for classical in a small room
I don't want to spend more than $1000 on the three speakers.
what about plugging the port to fix bloated bass..
I didn't find that step to be necessary 99% of the time. Granted, I confess to not giving that a shot once they began exhibiting that behavior on the NAD.
Thank you for the review.
I have been trying to choose between the Svs ultra bookshelf and these Dali bookshelf. You have reviewed both is it possible to express your thoughts on one verse the other
Thank you for your input.
Those speakers are great and now they cost only £499 in uk😁😁😁😁great video
Price update after covid £599 for a pair now🥴
They sound fantastic with Marantz nr1711 after audyssey mic calibration❤❤❤❤
What about soundstage DEPTH? I need some depth.
It's slightly beyond average in that regard. You do get a soundstage that is relatively layered, which becomes most noticeable with jazz and classical. Still, if you're a hound for image depth, then you may have to spend a bit more cash.
@@ZeroFidelity Leaning to Revel M106 or Totems so far... Maybe KEF - thanks for a great channel. See you at THE Show, Los Angeles?
I have the Dali Zensor 3 and I'm very happy with their airy presentation, I auditioned a dozen of speakers including ELACs, Klipsh & Monitor Audio, and these had the most "magic" for 280 EUR. I don't think they're the most accurate, allthough they're not bad, but their twitter does soundstage so well I just had to buy them! My problem is that I don't have a working amplifier currently, judging from reviews alone I am torn between the Marantz PM6006, the Denon PMA 800NE or the IOTAVX SA3. Can anybody help me?

Awesome job Sean ! I've been looking for a good budget amp either I can get a emotivia bas x 300 new or a used onkyo intergra 504 i know this is off the subject of video your input would be greatly appreciated
Do you know a good service tech? If not, are you capable of running diagnostics or replacing parts? If you are, then the Oinker could be a lot of fun. If you aren't, then go with the Bas X300.
What about Dali Oberon 5 or 7? Any chance to review them soon?
And the new 9 ;)
I really liked the comparison part.
Very Nice review. Do the Oberons 1 also have that wide soundstage like the Oberons 3 have?
Yup... just not as big sounding as the 3... If you don't have a really large room, then the Oberon 1 would sound really nice.

It'll work, but honestly, you'd be better off using the Klipsch 402 or 502 as a surround speaker / compliment to your current RP's.
Hello. Greetings from Argentina. Would like to ask you if it’s better Oberon 3 or Elac Debut 6.2 for a small audio Room? Many thanks in advanced!
Thanks a lot for the video. Given that you have both the speakers that I am confused with, that is, this one and the B&W 607 S2 could you please help me out here? Which according to you is better and why?

Also is nuances n micro dynamics a good thing explain n then let me know if dali I should go with or kef q 350

Hmmm.....woodpulp fiber cone... that is well...paper?
That's a good question. So here's the thing: I cannot speak on Dali's behalf, but when I look at Dali drivers, I notice slivers of wooden strands throughout the cone. My guess is that the wood in the cone material isn't as 'broken down' as what you'll find in typical paper products. Then again. I could be full of sh*t.
Lol I was gonna ask the same thing.

How s20, s30 polk audio compared with dali oberon 1, oberon volkar in battle of LCR setup?
What do you mean with easy to work with? That they are easy to drive? They don't seem so easy at 87db sensitivity?
How would these compare to the Opticon 2 speakers? Which one is brighter ?
Sean, the Polk Audio lsim703 bookshelf speakers can now be had for $600 a pair shipped. Is it safe to say that they are one of the best bargains right now for bookshelf speakers? Meaning overall what you're getting for the money.
Yeah. Polk Audio is practically pimp slapping the LSi out the door. While some people may *still* prefer the speakers mentioned in this video over the 703's for personal reasons, I think $600 for a set of 703's, new, with warranty, is a stupidly good deal.
Is this one is the straight comparison to the q accoustic 3030i
ok so what about the person who is looking for a flatter, more neutral sound? I can't seem to find anything in the lower budget range for passive bookshelf speakers that aren't V shaped unless I go active studio monitors..
B&W 606s are fantastic neutral speakers.
Those speaker stands look great. Can you please tell me what are they're called, and roughly how much they cost? Thanks.
Sir what is your opinion using it as F/L front speaker for HT ?
If you need a compact solution and cannot justify going with the 5's, then sure - they should be fine! Just don't expect earth shattering volume outta them!
Zero Fidelity ... Thank you for your valuable advice. Guess I will consider SVS Ultra Bookself speaker instead.
This or Triangle BR03 or Focal 806?
