  • DtRockstar1 records an extremely rare Corvette built by Joel Rosen of Motion Chevrolet. It's called the Maco Shark, which is inspired by Bill MItchell's Corvette Mako Shark concept car. What you see here is 1 of 6 built, and 1 of only 3 known to have survived. It was $17,000 in 1970, which was what it cost to buy a Ferrari Daytona at the time. It had 460 horsepower, which was stratospheric for its time. It is shown here winning several awards at the 2013 Concours d'elegance of America at St. John's in Plymouth, Michigan.
    Baldwin Motion was one of the high performance dealers, along with Yenko, Nickey Chevrolet, Royal Pontiac, and others. They are some of the most valuable muscle cars in the world.
    I would like to thank the friendly owners for sharing this car with us and congratulate them for all the awards they won at the event.

    This is based on the Corvette Mako shark 2 by Bill Mitchell, which in turn influenced the Gorgeous C3 Corvette Stingray. The 1969 Corvette Stingray coupe has to be the best looking sports car ever..yes, better than the Jaguar E-Type coupe (the windscreen is too high and ruins the lines) and even just pips the Ferrari Dino 246 gt, both of which i think are fantastic. The 1969 Corvette Coupe though has the awesome looks from any angle, mean and lean, black on black, it's a design legend!!!!!

    I agree for the 1973-1982 C3s (68-71 had some great engines and package available : L71-L88-L89-LS6 454) and C4, but not on the C5. It's the begining of the new era. They started the ZO6 with this body style in 2002 with the 405 hp LS6 ,wich back in the days, were as fast as any supercars of that time with a 0-60 under 4 sec, 12:6 1/4 mile and 171mph top speed. They paved the way fo the amazing C6 ZO6 and the kick ass ZR1

    Originally I built this Maco for Motion Performance when it was new. In 2011, I was asked to paint it again for the new owner in the video. You can see the step by step paint job from primer to completion, in my shop on my website localbrush.com/motionperformance.html

    • @DtRockstar1
      @DtRockstar1  6 років тому +1

      This car is worth millions because it was built by Baldwin-Motion. It was a specialized muscle car, much like Yenko. What you're seeing here is not a concept car like the Mako Shark II (the one here is spelled 'Maco.') Baldwin-Motion cars were meant to kick everyone's ass in a drag race, and they are extremely rare. So anything with that name on it is going to fetch a lot of money.

    • @cesarpalafox7676

    Lets see. 1970. Small block, yes, look at vavle covers and exhaust arrangement, low rise intake, single four barrel, and 460 hp. Very unlikely given factory technology and limited after market support at that time. 380 maybe.

    • @artvandelay0073
      @artvandelay0073 5 років тому +1

      Shawn Hurley // You do realize don't you that Joel Rosen of Motion Performance built and dyno-tuned this solid lifter engine with his own choice of camshaft, modified intake, heads, and carb? This was NOT a run-of-the-mill production engine from GM. With a red line of over 6,500-rpm, this high revving engine could easily have produced over 450-hp. The 406-cid long stroke small block that I built for my '68 Chevelle was dynoed at over 450-hp and 500-ft.lbs. of torque. 😄👍

    Lines are all wrong, the cars were regular production line c3 vettes with a hideous attempt to make the manta ray or mako shark 2, these cars are nothing special unless you like driving a retarded c3. All those signatures from gm top brass can't shine this turd. I love mako shark 2, I love the manta ray, I love most all c3 corvettes, these baldwins remind me of a large stinky Opel, close but no cigar. Don't waste your cash on these thinking they are a good investment, they will stay low, like a custom 75 l48 auto with the wrong color paint and chrome air cleaner cover.

      The Mako shark designed by Bill Mitchell, which this is based on was the for-runner of the C3 Corvette, in my opinion the best looking sports car ever and that includes the Jaguar E-Type. The 1969 C3 Corvette Coupe in black on black is an aewsome sports car. I can name ferraris and porsches that are no where near as good looking as this car, but this isn't as stylish as the C3 Corvette Stingray it inspired, just goes to show what people like. I wonder what you like/

      What do I like? I like cars designed with taste, refinement and sublety. I like the Maserati birdcage. I like the Ferrari 250 TR and the 250 GTO. I like the Lamborghini Miura. I like late 60's Chevelles and Cudas. I like Mercedes 500K's.I like Talbot-Lagos and Duesenbergs, among others. What I abhor are puffed-up, steroided-out, over-the-top monstrosities like this. It's one of the most ridiculous-looking vehicles around, and looks like George Barris slapped it together out of bondo and bailing wire.

    • @studio-flash
      @studio-flash 9 років тому +1

      Chuck Schilling I like some of those cars as well, but what i said was it inspired the C3 Corvette Stingray which anyone knows is a design legend on a par with any, i repeat any sports car. If you look at the same prototype ferraris and lambos, they will look as you say "cheesy". The Muira looks so dated now and could be classed in the 60/7's cheese category you mentioned, like many lambos. The Maserati was an out n out sports car, but looked like the AC Cobra (i think)..but again, not anywhere as good looking as a 1963 Corvette splitscreen. Funny thing is lots of people would have you think lambos are perfect. The Countach, over heated, design for practical use was well... useless and ended up always being in the garage! Chevelles, camaros and corvettes from the 1960's to early 1970's were all awesome, especially the vettes. I'm British but loves the corvettes. We had some nice British sports cars as well, triumps, M.G.'s Lotus, but some of these were awful in terms of practicality. Anyway we all like what we like.Cheers!!

  • @sebastienh78
    @sebastienh78 11 років тому

    That thing, as rare as it is, is ugly as hell. It looks like the later C3s. The 68-72 were cool. but as soon as they had to drop the chrome bumpers for the 5mph federally requiered ones, those cars gets longer and longer and start looking like a big pile of fiberglass shit like this one. They also significantly drop on power after 71 due to oil crisis. The ugliest Corvettes of all times beeing the 80-82.

    How much do you want for this car? I want it please is that car got a 454 engine in it or 396 I love Chevrolet I remember owning in Minnesota to Chevrolet cars. One of them was a 1970 Chevelle SS .454.cu
    And for the second car was a 1972 Chevrolet Malibu four-door car with a 350 engine .cu and it had a four barrel customized both cars were rusty rust bucket, but I got both of those cars up in Minnesota for only $500 I love those cars, but I gave them back to my brother, Wayne I don’t want to give out his last name because I don’t want somebody to stock him or harm my family
    Sorry, my iPhone is misspelling. I have an iPhone 12. PRO MAX 512 GB FROM. Verizon wireless I bought it from their computer ordering it from the online store from Verizon wireless and FedEx sent it to my home. This phone cost me over $2000. Yes too much for a China phone. I love the iPhone but I absolutely hate it because these phones they love to misspell all the time 1,000,000,000% and since they went to making iPhones to be glass phones, the OLED display 4K the phone gets way too hot, and it dims my display light all the time even though I have the accessibilities turned off so it’s supposed to stay bright all the time, but it does not. It keeps going darker and darker and darker until I can’t see nothing anymore, and the phone overheats and it even turns down my music when I’m listening to my Bluetooth music. It turns it down over halfway volume so it’s not bumping loud so I do love my iPhone but I absolutely hate it as well. Sorry for too much detail what’s going on with this phone? I’m talking on, but if there’s any misspell, then you know why, because even though my phone was on the phone incorporation in California Apple corporation, but they have all these phones built in China 🇨🇳 I don’t hate Chinese people, but they really do a sloppy job on this phone 😂😂😂😂 anyways, I’m gonna be upgrading to an iPhone 14 PRO MAX 2 TB IF THEY HAVE THAT AND DEFINITELY I’M GETTING PROTECTION ON IT JUST LIKE THIS PHONE I HAVE FULL COVERAGE FROM APPLE WHICH IS ALMOST $14 EVERY MONTH BUT IT’S WORTH IT IS MY PHONE GOT STOLEN OR BROKEN THEY GAVE ME A WHOLE NEW IPHONE
    But anyways for real how do I get in touch with you so I could talk about how much you want for that Corvette I want it or do you have any other cars for sale? I live in Phoenix Arizona my name is Brian pleased to meet you.
