I do fanfiction myself. I'm using it as a way to become a writer for video games. I found your channel recently and saw you do Equestria Girls content, which is honestly my preferred series of G4. I'm currently doing a Kingdom Hearts x EG story that follows their own narratives of the movies, but your videos makes me want to take a shot at writing my own versions of said movies. As in no crossover, just the EG series if it still followed its overarching narrative. Do what you do best, I look forward to more videos from you!
The best way to go about it is to just start, then keep going. Even if you’re bad (which you will be) you’ll only be able to build yourself up with practice. I’d be down to read some of your stuff.
I honestly think this story would have made for a great hour special that delves deeper into her character, her song writing hobby, and how and why she got into song writing in the first place. There are actually so many possibilities with Fluttershy and this topic.
As a big Fluttershy fan, I'm personally pretty ambivilent about the subject. Her significance in the main series grew substantially as it went on, perhaps beyond the point such a caricatured supporting character aught to have. Fluttershy-centred episodes gradually went from "social anxiety is a bummer" to "this already unstable individual has been pushed to her breaking point and something truly bizarre is about to go down." Never normal, always memorable. So it's an equivalent exchange.
I really wish you continued these discussions about the human Mane 5 with a video about Pinkie Pie. I think there was a great potential for a good Pinkie Pie story in "Sunset's Backstage Pass", where she has to learn that her antics won't always make everyone happy, but sometimes make them feel overwhelmed or annoyed. Thus, leaving Pinkie to ultimately learn that the key to making people smile, have fun and LAUGH (capitalized 'cause she represent the element of laughter) is to take some time to see if your loved ones are actually enjoying what they're doing and to not be so self-centered in your own definition of fun. But no, the special went into the way of framing Pinkie Pie as the victim for literally ruining her and Sunset Shimmer's day because "She's Pinkie Pie and she's hyperactive. There's no way she can realize she messed up big time, 'cause she's just being herself" Both Sunset and Pinkie had something to learn. The former had to learn that you can't meticulously plan out every single detail in order to have a good time and I think I already discussed what the latter had to learn. These are pretty much all the problems I had with "Sunset's Backstage Pass" and it's pretty bad considering it's really the only non-short Equestria Girls material where Pinkie has a chance to shine.
I agree with you, the special does excuse pinkie of a lot of accountability, something i feel spring breakdown did with rainbow dash up until the midpoint. What's funny about pinkie in EG, specifically, is that there was the 5 stars short, which does tackle what you just said about pinkie being obnoxious or trying too hard (all with good intentions in mind) If they took that bit of that short and implemented it in backstage pass, they could've gotten a way better balance between sunset and pinkie. I have the feeling that backstage pass works infinitely better with dual protagonists (pinkie and sunset), rather than just a protagonist (sunset) That's why i intentionally refer to it as backstage pass and not sunset's backstage pass. But yeah you do make me wanna go back to this type of videos, so... I'll see what i can do ;)
Equestria Girls really had *a lot* of potential with the story and characters. Wish it didn’t end so abruptly… :( Perhaps with Fluttershy’s story they could have brought human Discord in (someone once said he would be the “stoner kid” in the back of the classroom who pulls pranks and gets detention a lot and I could totally see that. Or maybe a collage “drop out”) and could draw in a story of them being outcasts in their own ways and choosing to (eventually, on Discords part) bond over it. They can have their own separate interests, shared interests and still hang out with their represented groups in and out of school while still being friends and finding a way to balance that - which easily connects back to the original show while still having the potential to be distinct enough to be in a high school setting and not come across as too repetitive of a story arc.
I'm happy I could give you the suggestion, and thanks for the shoutout, link to my channel, and showing my comment in the video. It was interesting going back and reading my comment; I actually read it like 3 times over or so. It's insane that with 7 years (approx) of EG Content that she was never in the spotlight. Even though I was aware of it, I didn't think anything of her songwriting until watching this video. I love that you showed those short clips from LoE and Dance Magic of the callbacks to her songwriting being brought back up briefly from Rainbow Rocks. I love the idea (and I believe that it's cannon as well) that Fluttershy wrote the song they played at the Ball in Legend of Everfree, and I REALLY love the notion that Fluttershy either contributed to or singlehandly whatever the original song they were going to sing for their music video prior to collaborating with the Crystal Prep Students, as well as co-rewriting parts of the song with Sunny Flare to include the Crystal Prep Academy/Students in Dance Magic. I REALLY love what I just mentioned previously about Fluttershy and Sunny Flare for two reasons, one because I really love that she made changes to the song along with Sunny Flare's help, and the I LOVE the notion that Fluttershy possibly worked on everything with the lyrics (both the original and the revision with Sunny Flare) because the Dance Magic song is one of my absolute top favorite songs from all of Equestria Girls; it is an incredible song that I really love a LOT! I also love the implications that has in that Sunny Flare could be linguistically inclined and have the potential to be some type of writer herself. On a separate note, one thing I find very interesting and strange is that for whatever reason, despite being part of CPA, that despite being introduced in Friendship Games, they did not include Indigo Zap in the Dance Magic episode. Finally, I love the final product after your 6 drafts (man you put a LOT of work into a video just under 3 and a half minutes!), awesome video (I love your use of the couple of Heartgold/Soulsilver soundtracks, as well as the original Jubilife City music at the end, and that screenshot from that SpongeBob Episode, lol), and I'm looking forward to your future videos.
Thanks! Now that I look back at the process of this video, it really shouldn't have taken this long! XD Maybe it's because I got into writing an actual story, which is what caused so many drafts in the end. I'm glad I settled for this instead. Showing the essential information and leaving personal writing aside. Thanks for the suggestion!
Flutershy thinks wearing fur is bad but rarity likes it that could be a story. Futershy would be to embarrassed to say anything and would end up looking judgmental.
In the end, Pony Fluttershy was just too violent and psychotic to realistically exist in a mundane world. They had to hollow out everything interesting about her, or else end up with a character who gets thrown in jail every week.
It looks like it. There hasn't been any recent news about EG ever since Hasbro cut ties with the animation studio. I'd love to see it get revived, but one can only hope.
I thought about writing a story myself, but I'm not brave enough for fan fiction... yet.

It’s okay I honestly understand, but I will totally read it if you do choose too! ^^
So no fimfiction :|

fluttershy knows shes on tv and has stage fright now it makes sense doesn't want spot light on her.

The fact that Songwriting or the Spring Fling ALONE are possible to create amazing storylines still baffles me
Hasbro needs to step up their game

Fluttershy ending up in jail would be a cool concept ngl
I really wish EG Fluttershy got her own special.
#justiceforequestriagirlsfluttershy
Join the Save MLP campaign to get EG continued and Fluttershy given her own story!
The MLP movie didn’t do her any favors either
00:09 so, equestria girls are finished... But they don't have final?
