This episode is channeling the feeling of fighting from Yu-Yu Hakusho. Particularly one of the best fights from the Dark Tournament. It makes me nostalgic and really connect with this show. That first fight, how they showed the joy and catharsis of fighting. The kinship. They REALLY got it right.
Bro can we talk about how they took the last couple seconds of the previous episode, and re-animated the whole scene from a different perspective for the first few seconds of this episode? Crazy attention to detail
Ume promised Sakura to win but he also promised Togame to take care of the situation in his stead. So, his goal isn't just to beat Choji but to make him learn some lessons for Togame's, Shishitoren's and even Choji's own sake. Ume is very kind, you just reeeeally don't wanna test him☠

I disagree alot with the take "Sakura should lose so he learns that he isnt the strongest". Because he knows he isnt thats why only wants to fight the strong to become the strongest and proof his strength. What he needs to learn is empathy. He only sees the strengh of other people and often forgets that he isnt the only one with a shitty backstory
Ya, this is the Kind of show that the MC is I think is going for. Sakura is already strong but he is always alone and in the next episode we will likely learn why Umemiya is the top dog of Furin. I'm sick of Shonen Troupes where the MC beats the strongest then later get clapped by the new strongest then train to beat the new strongest just to get beat again by the next new strongest.
I agree Shishitoren is kinda mid. I think it has quite a bit to do with the leadership of shishitoren. Chouji is ass as a leader, whereas Umemiya is a really strong leader that makes everyone under him strive to be better. I think that's why most of the fighters we saw from Shishitoren would do way better in Bofurin, Togame included.
I agree, I think at this point in time Shishitoren members are most likely avoiding serious fights since one loss means they are getting beat up and thrown out, thats why bully middle schoolers instead

When Umemiya was first introduced, I thought he might’ve been just a figurehead who was good at inspiring others, but I’m glad to see that he can put up a good fight. With Choji’s fighting style, I’m looking forward to what we’re gonna see.
The manga/anime is more a talk and undertanding each other to show growth; I believe the autor try to share a lesson on life but with the use of fighting bc people are not capable to stay focus. Unfortunately lots of people seem to miss that aspect of the anime/story bc FIGHT!! OMG beat his a**! IDC about this character fight! Instead understanding the message behind it... that's sad
Agreed…the story is a coming-of-age with a side of turf wars type. It’s about watching Sakura solve the answer to why he can’t make it to the top alone. Same with Tokyo Revengers-which I absolutely hate the toxic comparisons (so sorry Takemichi isn’t the typical shonen Goku-type character with whom everyone else is helpless to defeat the enemy without) to this show. Tokyo Revengers is a time-travel-mystery-underdog story where a guy wants to save the people he loves and knows he isn’t strong enough, so he trusts his friends to help him win. Sure, the fights look great here, but the point of the story isn’t about that.

Just because he regrets his choices and actions that doesn't make him any less lame. He knows he's on the wrong path and doesn't want to be on the wrong path, but still didn't/doesn't have the balls to make his own choices and choose his own path , which makes him lame. Saying he's not lame just because he has regrets is like saying that the person that's cool with a bully or bullies knowing that they're hanging with and supporting/enabling a bully isn't lame just because you find out that they feel bad for the people that get bullied like they're not a part of the problem too. I don't feel bad for Togome because he made his choices, and actions have consequences. I just hope he does better in the future. And yes, I do hate Choji. He's a total pos.

It's gonna be fun the next few episodes. Umemiya is strong but he's not top of Bofurin just because he's strong, he also loves to help people and obviously Choji needs some help getting rid of whatever demons he has. BTW Choji is 17 and is incredibly strong as well

He has been unwavering in his beliefs and in his convictions, but Togame knew he put his own convictions down for the sake of Choji and changed himself as a whole for him. In that realization, he knew he had to concede and only fight to the end when he knew in himself that he could hold fast to his personal convictions like Sakura did.
