- The family 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 Diesel needs an oil change. It has done almost 330,000kms so it has had a few but I've never done it myself. Let's give it a go and see how it goes.
Penrite recommendation for my particular car is HPR Diesel 5
Wix 7478 filter from www.diycarserviceparts.co.uk/
I buy my service parts from www.diycarserviceparts.co.uk/
The oil comes from Penrite

Done plenty of oil changes on petrol engines. Came here when I saw something different (the canister) and now I know what to expect when I take it off.
Great to see you back, its been a while.
Making the most of summer 😎 hope you are well
@@Badgertronix All is well up this end thanks, warmer weather is creeping in slowly. And life isnearly back to some normality, lots of plans for going out and about this year wirh my old lorries.
No stripped threads and no skinned knuckles - so definitely a win!
Wasn't too painful an experience. The fuel filter looks a bit painful so not looking forward to that one
Nice work mate look like its still going strong with the mileage its done
Cheers mate. Has been pretty reliable so far 🤞
I have a Toyota, never had a Hyundai ..... but I enjoy all your videos. Thanks for posting. [BTW, I'm from Iowa, a state in the middle of the United States]
Hello and great to hear from you. I know Iowa from Bill Bryson's books. Cheers
It’s probably the best oil it’s had in its life. 👌🏼
It has been using it the last 100,000kms and has never used a drop
Thanks for the video! How many KM are you up to? I'm curious to know how long these engines last.
Para Guatemala que tipo de aceite recomiendas para Santa Fe la misma que le haces servicio
Great video! I have a 2014 Santa Fe and work on it myself. Great to see how you approach your work. Let's me know what to expect.
Also noticed the caravan....do you tow it with the Santa Fe?
Thanks. Ha no, that caravan ways 3 tonnes. There's a Ford Ranger to tow it
Just bought a Santa Fe after the transmission cooler on my outlander leaked CVT fluid into my coolant. Thanks for the video. Looks like it takes a lot of engine oil!
Yes it does! Takes 6.7 L with the oil filter.
I'm guessing a 2015 model would be the same. Only reason I ask is your dash looks a bit different and mine doesn't say goodbye.
327.840 km The car is still reliable, I'm thinking of buying one with 250,000 and I'm afraid because it's a high km and the car is almost 10 years old what do you tell me in terms of mechanics of this car? Thanks
Just bought a santa Fe ourselves. Underneath is filthy.... I want to get the wheels off one at a time to clean the wells.... I can use a trolley Jack with a pad to jack on the sills, but wondering where you put the stands? There's not enough room next to the Jack?
You have to find a suitable point on the subframe to jack from
@@Badgertronix thanks mate☺️. Just had a look... Yeah the sub frame at the front on each side looks like a go... Piece of wood on jack and each wheel at a time.... Stands on the pinch weld. Rear looks like from the cross member and both wheels at once.
Love your videos! Found them when watching your transmission change on the the AU.
Hey mate,
Been to Repco and looked on their recommendations. Says to use 10-40w for non particulate model.
Why did you use 5w?
check the recommendation on the Penrite website. They only recommend the HPR Diesel 5 with no substitute allowed for the non DPF version. However 10w-40 is fine according to the owners manual so whatever works for you.
@@Badgertronix thanks for the fast reply and the video mate. First timer here for the wife's car. Done my old Prado regularly.
I got 5w30 as I seen that's acceptable too..
Cheers again
Do you get mannol oil in nz
Looks like we do, but it's not common
@@Badgertronix I’ve been using it in the U.K. in a Hyundai, seems to meet the specs, it’s dirt cheap especially when ebay have 20% off deals
Looks like decent stuff. The Penrite I use is good value when it's on special, but definitely not dirt cheap!
Morris next ! Yes?
I wish
I thought a man of your talents would be wearing gloves... my Kia proceed has the filter pointing up with a 27mm plastic nut to undo, really makes a mess and if it's windy the oil drains into the undertray 😏
Gloves would have been nice
@@Badgertronix I don't wear them either. It's winter here so no tinkering for me on the driveway unless absolutely necessary 😱🇮🇪
