I'm glad we got to see her at all the ages, decades, styles, blonde, red, black hair, barely dressed, headwraps, wigs and her different weights/sizes. She lived a real life.
Omgoodness Yesssssssssssssssss I'on mean no harm to no other female vocalist but, to me she wasn't black, she was blackady black... Liiiiiiiike back in the day, wheeeeeeew Weeeeeee, late 60's early 70's with her Afro and beautiful African gowns.
I Agree 100%! I've always said that the song I'm Every Woman by Chaka Khan should have been given to Aretha when it first came out, cause she definitely was every woman. Throughout the years of her life she had the look of every woman and also the voice. Even though Aretha's voice changed over the years due to being a heavy smoker until she stopped, if you really think about it she also had the voice and SOUND of every female singer. From the beginning of her career in the early 60's till her passing. No matter what style of music and race, White, Black, Latin or anything else you can hear just about every female singers voice in Aretha's vocal changes over the years. I guarantee you no one can say that about any other female singer from any style of music or generation. That's why I like to say Aretha was the head of it all, and still is.

C-SuiteConnections, that is exactly what I have been thinking for a long time. That she knew how much we all loved her. There are not many entertainers, singers etc that you just feel that they are giving everything they can to you. When I bought an Aretha Franklin album, I knew it was money well spent. She has helped so many people in other ways with her time, talent and money that most will never know about. God Bless her!
C-SuiteConnections I Agree With You Why Did She Have To Die if they had asked Me Who The Number One 1# person you would bring back from the Dead I definitely would say Aretha Franklin Whitney Houston Tupac And Mahalia Jackson and Selena Cruz as far as celebrities
Just a marvelous interview with humility coming from Momma Franklin. Truly she was a beautiful person. God almighty she speaks well. How can u not like the interview.
This interviewer got Aretha to open up in a way I haven’t seen in other interviews. Excellent interview. I love that she has a cheap flip phone . We love you Queen.
Aside from the Blue Brothers, I wish Aretha would've done more acting like a gritty drama or a comedy. She was very funny and had good comedic timing. In addition, I'm sure she could've played a very serious drama role. What a gifted individual! I will miss her always.
@@akuapiatas Actually, for years she didn't do interviews at all. She was very hurt by the Time Magazine feature in 1968 -- she felt it portrayed her in a patronizing, stereotyping way , and she felt betrayed -- and it led to a deep distrust of the media that lasted for a long time.
The queen is the queen we know she'll be fabulous but shout out to the interviewer he did a great job seemed he made her feel comfortable didn't ask dumb questions and was very gracious and complimentary. He seemed very genuine
this woman had so much class. this interview and all the rest that I have seen have been marvelous. she was well grounded and confident. World class woman and seems highly intelligent. Wow If only the stars of today would or could have some couth about themselves!
Something few realized is that the Queen was a master of PR. She rarely took interviews, but obliged at just the right moments & always remained relevant! Always left us wanting more! RIP
Aretha doesn't interview much, so what a rare opportunity to see this in-depth chat. She is so humble despite having received almost every imaginable accolade a person could attain. It's because of that VOICE. That rare gift from GOD that has touched so many hearts and souls around the world. Like she said, Never become a star. If some other talents had heeded these wise words, maybe they would still be here with us. So, Rest in Peace Great Aretha. Sing in The Heavenly Choir. Much Love, Gwen.
I will always love Aretha. I can remember how my mom would buy her records on the stereo with big long wooden case. But before that her 45's was played on a little RCA record player with a little dog on it! That was my introduction to the Queen of Soul. Rest In Sweet Peace.
Awesome interview. He is very respectful and is able to get the Queen of Soul to open up and feel comfortable. We were blessed with hearing her speak about her life due to this interviewers timing, questions and professionalism. Bravo.....probably the best time she's had with an interview. Love you Mrs Aretha Franklin. Thank you for sharing your gift with us for over 40 decades. Rest in Heaven.
Why would she curse? Why would she be loud or wild? This woman was a class act. She didn't have to do any of that. Get a grip. The ignorance is so pervasive.

"After people pay their taxes with your money a few times, you wake up and you learn the business." She better speak on it lol. Ree Ree, like a lot of black artists, probably got burned early on and got tough.
About the "got tough" part of your comment. Have you seen any of the pics or video of Aretha when she first entered the studio at Muscle Shoals? Here was this young black lady walking into a room full of more experienced white musicians. Not necessarily racist but they sure weren't going to let this young "upstart" show them anything. When she first walked in she had this look that just commanded respect. And by the time she left that studio, she owned every single one of them. She had their respect, all of them, both as a person and as a musician. I don't know if it was "tough" but she had a charisma about her that made some respect her and others love her. I think they knew not to mess with Aretha early on.

Absolutely love this interview. I wanted to sit down in front of her and feel who she really was and is. She was once married to a very close and long time friend of my family. Never got to meet her in person. "All hail Queen Aretha!" Forever.....
Very good interview, she seemed in a good mood and was actually humble in a few parts of the interview. She's far more knowledgeable than you realize at first. Witty and funny too. Outstanding interview.
She was so Sweet, Kind & Down to earth, she reminds me of My Grandmother (who passed away last year) I asked if she loved her too she said yes! I hope they got to meet & sing together in Heaven. R.I.P Grandma & Aretha.
I am so sorry that I never got a chance to meet this great woman. I was only 12 when I first heard her sing. My mom had a 45 with the song "Today I Sing The Blues" and the B-Side, "Won't Be Long". The volume wasn't turned up very high, but Queen Aretha's voice resonated all through our two-story home. Aretha will never be forgotten. WOW! Aretha knew who she was. Like her humility and honesty. She was of course very talented. Aretha was the real thing. Very practical person. I like her directness but yet she was humble. I love when the interviewer is prepared for her and asks meaningful questions. She is always classy, but a great interviewer is a treat.
This interviewer did his homework and asked his questions respectfully...

Wow even at her age then, and so late in her career, she still wanted to know and learn more (classical piano)...what a legend! RIPQUEEN
She was and still is the one and only and it ain’t but one Queen! A beautiful, humble and elegantly classy lady. We shall miss you Ms Franklin! Your music will continue to live on for generations to come!
It's like being in the presence of total greatness, she was so charismatic. Very articulate and intelligent and no airs and graces. Totally without a doubt a gift from God. Sing with the angels Queen and thankyou for being born 🙏 ❤️ ❤️
She a 💎 and this is also one of Her birthstones as well.

Ah, okay... At first, I was thinking Kathleen Battle.
Has anyone else noticed, she don't consider herself a 🌟"star" but an artist? She worked her way up to ' queen of soul', Sweet Lady. Thank you for sharing your God given talent!
This is an excellent interview!!!!!! Rest In Peace Queen Franklin!!!!!!!!
