I wish we had the whole thing. Ever since I saw this on TV at a difficult moment of professional transition, when I listen to the score I feel this creative freedom that nothing else has ever expressed.

Seeing this live moved me in ways few, or no, other ballets or dance performances have.
When I feel a strong emotion I often get goosebumps, this is especially true if the emotion is caused by a creative or artistic work of some kind. This sent shivers not only through my limbs but up my spine and across my scalp that concentrated into these exploding points of electrical excitement on the back and top of my head, and then started again, over and over. I cried years but had a huge smile across my face.
After excited rounds of applause at the end of the performance my partner and I turned to each other wide eyed and amazed, happy to find the other had also been as deeply moved and thrilled by the piece. We immediately bought tickets to see it again the very next night, the final performance in the run I think. I was worried the second viewing would show me I was wrong somehow to have enjoyed it as much as I did, or I would find that having seen it once somehow lessened the experience of the piece maybe because I now had expectations that were set too high or something. I am happy to report the second viewing experience was just as incredible.
I hope I get a chance to see it performed again but more than that I hope that those who haven't seen it live yet are able to emerge from this current global pandemic safe and well and that they too get a chance to enjoy a performance of this one day, when it is safe to do so.

I saw this in Chicago on 1/18/1984. I recall being reminded at the time of the magnetic nerdy awkwardness of David Byrne of Talking Heads.
The versions I see on UA-cam are more polished.

"In the Upper Room" is a religious tract / a devotional - I like the women dancers finally wearing pants but still straight coupling on stage There aren't any women dancing with each other
