Thank you. The other week I wrestled with this exact situation in the rain for almost an hour and I lost the fight. I ended up sandbagging a bipod with a good rod and it worked fine, but I will definitely take your advise in all my future encounters with level adjustments.

I took one out the other day and was wondering the best way to do this. I was going to set up 2 total stations 90 degrees apart and have 2 guys make sure its plumb while I adjust the bubble. This is WAY easier! Thanks again!

Noticed your three lower leg locking knobs are tight and all the adjustments are made with the upper leg section squeeze clamps and thumb screw. I seem to have better luck keeping the centre pole in place by keeping all the lower locking knobs loose until the end. Anything wrong with this method or is there something I'm doing wrong?

I love those fixed height tripods.
I usually just use a plumb bob and a long string and have something on the ceiling where i can raise and lower straight up and down, make a mark on the floor and then raise it up and put tripod underneath and center my bubble.
Even if the bubble is not quite centered you are still very close, probably within .01'. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I liked this method, and it is important for controlling the bubble, thank you
but Is there an easier way than adopting a pole ? like tribrach
