This is definitely a fan favourite episode the singing part had so many of us in tears it was just everything amazing about Christmas in one scene and the theme Family shown all throughout the episode that moment was just beautiful and showed the message of just how important family is. Ghosts have always done Christmas Specials amazingly we couldn’t be more grateful for that ❤
They genuinely all sang that. There's short footage somewhere of them recording it. And yes, 'the six idiots' conceived, wrote and produced the whole wonderful, daft, funny, moving series'.
In the podcast, Kiell said this was his favorit episode, as Simon and Ben talked to him about his family traditions at christmas. And they put many of them in this episode. I hadn't really realized before watching this episode, but I hadn't seen a black family celebration with different traditions before. It made it so clear why diversity is important, as many of us mostly have media to learn about different cultures. Of course for me, the standard English traditions are also different than the ones in Norway where I'm from, but I've seen turkey and other stuff. A side of beef for christmas? That's new. 😂 (You talked over that joke, but I'm sure you caught it while editing). My point is that while many is calling the wide diversity trend 'woke', it's clear that previously, people have been 'placed' in traditions that might not be natural for them but are natural for those that make the show. And it makes tv less rich and less useful. Seeing something different, even if it's just in the background, makes it more interesting. Also, fun fact: the man that played Mikes dad, and Kiells mum knows each other. A neighbor for Kiells mums childhood is Mikes dad's best friend. They weren't aware while they acted together, and just found out when the episode aired.
BBC Comedy at Christmas is when the jokes take a back seat and they drop some heavy drama. It is a testament to the show that you can take away the comedy and stay invested in the story. After watching the US version of Ghosts, it seems that US comedy doesn't do that much.
This exactly. I’m so scared to watch the Gavin and Stacey finale today. Ruth and James have teased that there’s no way there can be another episode. Excited about Outnumbered but don’t know what to expect.
