Watched this video while waiting for our flight to Kauai. We tried several of them. We loved the Puka Dogs and Kiawa Root bbq. Excellent food. A normal hot dog will never be enough now! The food at Kaiwa Root was unbeatable. Jawaiian Jerk Ribs were amazing and unique. Reservations are required at night because it is a very small restaurant. Thank you for the suggestions!
Hi Bryan, Just left Kauai today and wanted to thank you for your recommendations! We loved Kalalea juice hale, Kenji burger, Kilauea fish market. But, konohiki seafoods was exceptional! Like 12/10. Also saw your other video and toured the Napoli coast, flew in a helicopter, and did the kalalua trail. Mahalo nui!
Kauai local here (north side), spot on with Kenji's, Kilauea fish market, and Kalalea juice. Couple more Kauai local recs for you next time you guys come kaukau - Pono market, Wailua shave ice, Leong's meat house, and Holy grail donuts!
When I was younger, we would visit Kauai and stay at the Kauai Resort, which is gone today. My brother raced motocross. I want to visit as an adult and try some of the places you highlighted! Thanks for your review! 🍍😎🤙🌴🥥🌺🌈
Loving all your suggestions so far! But, we did end up going to the “wrong” Puka Dog location. Also, you should review Break + Feast located just above the Kaua’i Juice Co Koloa; very good food and great staff!
I bought your guide. We will be leaving in a week to spend Christmas in Kauai. Staying in Princeville area. I know the north shore is off limits for snorkeling this time of year. Is there an alternative? What is the best option for kayak trips on the island. Mahalo!
Since you like Puka dogs you should try the Hula dogs on O'ahu. They are the same everything except you can get the taro bacon bun. It takes it to a whole other level and is so delicious.
Literally just reserved our hotel today for our first ever trip to the Hawaiian Islands, coming to Kauai in October! I saw Puka Dogs on a food network show and have been wanting to try one ever since, had no idea they were on Kauai!!! Stoked! Ok, I'm going to continue watching the video.
Have breakfast sandwiches at Little Fish coffee. Great breakfast at Anuenue Cafe. Le Spezia Italian is great. Skip high dollar Beach House. It’s a beautiful view but food is just ok and small portions for crazy prices.
eh brah!! i live dis island 32 years....oh.... i guess im not from here. but, ive been here.awhile....and you got the best on here!! jo2!! i used to work for him....chef....it was called A Pacific Cafe....all your picks on here...the best!!!
Loved the video! As some may have already said, it would be extremely helpful if you had the name of the places you mentioned displayed in the video. Especially for Hawaiian names, us Mainlanders would probably take hours trying to figure out the combination of spellings for these places
my guy, appreciate all this a lot. i think it personally needs captions of each place’s name though, or at least the name in the description. it’s gonna take a bit of work to find for example the açaí stand on the viewers end to find the place
Is there a really good outdoor luau near princeville that you suggest? I know it rains a lot in princeville but we really want to see an outdoor one. We're going middle of September.
Skip Keokis Paradise. Food was expensive. Of course everything in Kauai is expensive. But if you’re going to pay you should get good food. Fish was tougher than a boiled hoot owl.
I love fish tacos but Kilauea fish market is too Haole, what i mean is too much CHEESE !!! Thats gringo style, I will get their tacos but no cheese.. I get Ono fish tacos here in Los Angeles and its ahi + Pico de gallo + cabbage and sauce, but will try the catch of the day.. that look yummy.. BTW Great job on showing us da loco kind places and you do it systematicaly like going from dot to dot while you site see the aina. Mahalo
@@BKRVlogs Its the same as Kauai has the best Hawaiian food and we have Hawaiian food places here too.. Not da same.. Here in LA its a must to have da best Tacos cause LA needs to feed all da Gang members LOL
Our taste buds are different...vastly different. I found Puka dogs to be disgusting: a salty Costco Polish dog smothered in sickeningly sweet tropical fruit sauces: once in my life was enough. Give Japanese Grandma's Cafe in Hanapepe a try for sincere home cooked food.
Stay away from the beach house. It has a beautiful view. But if you want to spend over $200 for two people without drinks for mediocre food thats your place.
I liked the view We were also a party of 2 We shared an appetizer and each got an entree We just drink water and we don’t eat sugar so no dessert It was just over $100 I think I don’t really remember and I tipped just over 20%
this is the best kauai video out there! We have been watching everything in preparation for our trip and this video is the best. thanks!

Fish Express in Lihue has the best Poke on Kauai. Give them a try next time you're out there.
Pono market is better

Thank you so much! As local girl who now lives on the mainland I'm only craving hawaii-kine foods when I'm in Kauai. Much aloha for this great video.
Honestly, the lilikoi hot dog sauce is what made me subscribe and like this video. Haven't even finished the rest and I'm sold.
Jo2 looks bomb. I'll be there in a few months and I'll definitely be going.
Wow I must return to Kauai someday.

Mahalos braddah Bruce! Honestly Kauai is my favorite island since I love to adventure!
Thanks for an enthusiastic, informative, tasty video 👍
Iam so glad to see you ! Prayed for you … ♥️🙏Love your information and help …😃👍♥️And your wife as well .♥️😃👍

Shoots! I’ll give that a try this summer! Mahalos Luona.
I heard they use to be husband and wife and when they split up they still kept the business. They moved apart but then made one in Oahu.
I am buying reef save sunscreen for sure!

@@cdub4693 unfortunately we’ve cancelled our trip due to some unexpected home repairs. Hopefully next year. Thank you for the tips though!
@@hockeyheather3321 sorry to hear that. All the best. It will be there when you decide to go. Make sure you do the Captain Andy’s sunset cruise.

My buddy miguel Graham lives there...i should come out to visit.
Hi, thanks for the fantastic guide! Have you done a food guide on the Big Island? Would love some recommendations on where to go there too!
I've started it! I need to go back and film a few more spots though. My favorite new spot is Willies Hot Chicken.
@@BKRVlogs Thanks for the recommendation! Any for Hilo (especially dinner)?
Loved the video! As some may have already said, it would be extremely helpful if you had the name of the places you mentioned displayed in the video. Especially for Hawaiian names, us Mainlanders would probably take hours trying to figure out the combination of spellings for these places
You can see most of the spellings in the video when it pans across the different shots of the restaurants
Thank you. Great job😊

I was trying to figure out how to spell the names he was mentioning. Looked at the notes on the video but didn’t find the names.

The Smith Family Garden Luau 🙌
September shouldn't be too much of a problem for rain, but, of course, can't always predict the weather.
which luau do you recommend?
Omg I'm so hungry rn
Mmmmm yummy 😋 😍
Very interesting food in Kauai - i must try !!! Do they grow sweet potatoes on this Island ?
they sure do. Most islands do. I used to grow them myself at my home garden.
Any thoughts on a good luau to go to that is more authentic (staying on the south shore)?
The Sheraton hotel has a nice one.
Hey I’m coming in two weeks! What’s going on around town to do?? Anything special
Can you list the restaurant names please, I would like to go visit these places
Hey guys the bbq place has now closed unfortunately. Just searched and is closed.
La Spezia Italian was excellent.
You made me hungry😂
Where is that beach at 0:11
Skip Keokis Paradise. Food was expensive. Of course everything in Kauai is expensive. But if you’re going to pay you should get good food. Fish was tougher than a boiled hoot owl.
Just bought your guide!
Please tell people where these places are on Kauai
Is it hard to find pakalolo in Kauai? You don’t have to say where just a yes or a no 😂❤
I wish he would edit his closed captions. I can't understand him sometimes.
Use the CC button on the top of your UA-cam browser!
I add them in. You just need to use the CC Button.

It's truly not a "local" review unless you include Hamura's
puka dog is not a hidden gem lol, it's famous
drink 15$??? you serious?
Hawaii not cheap, be prepared to pay
