Hi Graeme, I would like to attempt making my own lathe for turning the float bodies. Can you give an instructional video on the construction of your lathe. Especially how the chucks are attatched to the drive and the tailstock. It would be a great help to me if you could. Thanks.
Richard Barrett Hi Richard. Yes, cork is indeed readily available,,,just search ebay for "natural cork". Do you use facebook at all? I have a group there and any help needed is always at hand either by myself or any of the other floatmakers..... Graeme.
Hi there, i have a mini lathe and am having trouble with the cork turning on the stem, whilst turning it down even though it`s drilled to the correct size. Any tips on how to prevent this. Many thanks for any help.
Hi Harry. I always cut the hole through the bodies, be it Cork or balsa, smaller than the about I use to turn on. 1mm dia smaller is enough to give a nice tight fit.
Richard Barrettits not the Float Hut on Facebook,,,its just "Hand crafted floats by Graeme Pinkerton" I will get round to changing the group name at some point.
Can you do a video on how you made the lathe? Like the turning of the cork
