Hearing this song isolated gives it a whole new level of appreciation. It's always been one of my favourite Van Halen songs and easily one of the best guitar intro songs of all time. F'in A!
Nobody can duplicate the swing he put into songs. The beginning to Hang 'em High is fast as hell but it's still got a swing to it. Such things used to depress me as a guitarist but I take it in stride and get inspired by it to do the best with what I've got!
@@curtvogue5720hang ‘em high is hard to play for sure. Straight 16 notes accent every third note over 4 beats. No swing though on that one. Slow it down and you can here no long and short notes. I’m such a guitar nerd sorry…
One of my favorite tracks right here. No one can play it like him, and to think he was barely in his 20's when this came out. They dont make them like him anymore.
Doesn't matter how much anyone practices and nails it note for note. It will never, ever sound the way EVH played it. Sometimes, life just isn't fair. The man's hands were pure magic.
This is a whole nother level of bad a$$ery. That swing groove is just magic but, to hear it isolated and just how smooth and perfectly he was able to play it at 120 bpm... Perfect insanity. RIP King Edward. You're missed but NEVER FORGOTTEN. 👑🎸🔥
I prefer 75% speed and not on UA-cam. I have the 75% slower version of this song and D.O.A with the pitch intact on my channel. Slowing down isolated tracks is how I learned a lot of Van Halen songs recently.
Imagine creating that as a 22-23 year-old, new-on-the-scene guitarist! Such cool riffs with perfectly placed/timed fillers (dive bombs, pinch harmonics, fret-board harmonics, lightning fast scales, etc.). Eddie was a gift to the world.
To listen to it like that gives a hole new meaning! No doubt Edward is King! His playing right there was so aggressive and so groovin'! Pure Magic! VH1, possibly the best debut album of all time! 🔴⚪⚫🙏🏻🤘
I should rephrase that question. How many can do it from start to finish in one take without the benefit of endless tracks and takes that today's players have? Not tons...that's for sure.
From all those guitars he build. Em man he got too his latest build from Gibson pick up he put in em😮 I got one of the newest build it's bleach blue n light too it was the start now$699 at the music warehouses an the right Amp Mansour can rock like he did its a hobby too do something!!!
If you don’t go play guitar after hearing these your not lifing right. You’re doing it wrong. That or you’re inspire nerve got broke! (Yes lifing, not living)
Lol I relate. It’s like an itch that has to be scratched once I listen to Eddie play. I have to play or I can’t hear what my girlfriend is saying, I can’t sleep sometimes, eating isn’t as good lol
Not so much the lyric - but any sort of vocal melody. Trying to write anything that would fit over top of this kind of guitar playing had to be so daunting - unless it just came naturally, I suppose.

There will never be another Eddie Van Halen.

EVH's timing and feel are incredible. He's giving it swing and movement.

Been listening to this stuff for 45 years. Never fails to amaze.
All hail the King. Great upload!
One of the very best guitar performances ever put to tape. Sonic innovation and just one pass - doesnt sound like any punch ins to me. Genius

Now you have gone and done it…my all time…FAVORITE VH tune…..listen to that!!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!!🎸🎸

I was off by about a half second... lol... I thought I'd be the only one doing that... 😂
I can listen to these isolated tracks all fucking day long! Man, king Edward is one of the goats! Live forever EVH!! 🔥🤘🎸🐐
The legendary isolated guitar track. I've heard fellow famous guitarists reference this recording.
The low E dive bomb at 3.13 is the most perfectly placed ever.
Listen to that groove! Slow this own to 50% speed to really hear it - unbelievable

Edward is full of energy here and we can all hear it. An aggressive tone but I like it.
Out of breath just listening to this!

I'm still dumbfounded 50 years later......pure unique master genius
I've been listening to this track since it released, and it will never, ever, get old.
My teenage memories 😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
The. Guitar. GOD. 🎸 WE MISS YOU, EDDIE!!
NO QUESTION, NONE AT ALL. GOAT
Well, that was above-average.
Mid to late 70’s …. The best guitar stuff!
Holy sh*t - he was one bad m*f*
This to me is the most badass VH track of them all.

I'd agree with that sentiment 1000%!!!
My favorite!
Badass! As always.
If this isn't my favorite Van Halen song it's awfully close.
King
Different gravy🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
So good!❤
Incredible
Did my ears deceive me or was there no cut into the solo. The solo and song were all in one.
GOAT!

How many guitarists today could put down a performance like that?!
Wolfie......
There are tons that can...but he came up with it...that's where it's at
@@Rockr69747 yup. He's got his dad's groove.

Now write lyrics over that. David Lee Roth is a genius. Hagar would have butchered it.

I always thought DLR sorts of raps - talk singing - in concert he does anyway.
@@vermontmoocow nonsense. Got a link? I've collected every Classic Van Halen bootleg.
@vermontmoocow yeah, he's more of a "crooner" than a singer, really.
You cannot teach this. Period. Eddie was the best .
