I’ve been told I needed to “get a real job” when I worked at a diner… by people who frequently ate at said diner. I don’t think they realized that if everyone that they claim “doesn’t have a real job” suddenly stopped working those jobs, they’d lose a lot of services they regularly use. No more hair stylists, no more waiters, no more fast food workers, no more cashiers, no more baristas, no more janitors, no more writers, no more artists, no more actors, no more of a lot of things. Maybe Karens should just stop judging other people lol

What is wrong with them? The actual definition of a "not real job" is something that no one would pay for. Being a server, a hairstylist, a cleaning worker, etc. are real jobs because people are paid for that, they might not be highly profitable jobs, but they're still jobs, VERY necessary jobs...

I'm so sick and tired of the real job vs fake job bs. If you pay real money to a person for doing something for you, that is a real job. Fast food is a real job, trades like hair styling are real jobs, retail is a real job, and going even further, babysitting/nannying, are real jobs. Even the kid mowing your lawn or doing odd errands for you is a real job.
And even further, that lemonade stand can grow into a big company too.
If you pay real money to someone for a good or service, it IS A REAL JOB!

My sister was a stylist until 2 car accidents removed that option. She was t-boned to the driver’s side, she’s left handed, then rear ended while waiting to turn left.
She continued to style for another 15 years, then just couldn’t handle the pain anymore. She was demeaned and disrespected so many times by ‘well-meaning individuals just looking out for her’ as they rolled up to her 6 bedroom house with the studio designed into the plans.
(I got her on some alternative things that helped with inflammation and pain, but she’s never returning due to severe Karenitis … btw, her name is Karin. :P And I told her about Castor Oil packs for the joints and liver, as well as liquid magnesium chloride or Epsom salts in a super saturated solution, rubbed gently into the injured areas and muscles. She was training for Iron Man races, lol, due to physio. Long story. But the magnesium was something I tried for her after running a qualifying marathon. She couldn’t walk over the 3/4 inch door frame, had to step backwards over it, and had to be lifted into their truck. We slathered her in liquid magnesium, she just walked normally out of the house and hopped into the truck …. I had to remind her of how she hobbled out the previous year. So, nothing ventured,…. It might help. Being in chronic pain sucks. I started using it due to L3,4,5,S1 compression injury)

Hair stylist is no hobby and certainly no walk in the park!
It is demanding, physically strenuous and quite unhealthy f.i. with all chemicals, one has to come in contact with and inhale.
Just wondering, what do these people consider as a real job?

How can a lemonade stand be compared to a beautician. That lady is weird

All jobs are real jobs? When you ask for someone to bag your groceries because you're too lazy to do so, a person does it for you right? Thats a real job. How about the people you pay to put the pump on for you to get gas? Or the cashier you yelled at because an item was wrongly placed somewhere? Or the janitor you yell at to clean better and say you could do their job better? I hate people with this type of entitlement. If by her logic, these aren't real jobs, then what is? What she does must not be real either. Or is it real because she's doing it?
Oh man sorry these kinds of conversations piss me off lol.

Nah, don't blame boomers. Ninety-nine percent of us are way cooler than that, and we are the generation who genuinely wants to see people succeed. Many of us ended up in helping professions so we could do just that. I've seen some mighty young Karens and their parent Karens...just sayin'.

@@avengingemmapeel That is true, some of the nicest people I've ever met have been Boomers, yet I've met some awful people from younger generations.
