Having seen so many dramas Zhou Xun (actress) Ruyi is indeed the best queen in all these dramas. She’s so kind hearted and never feels petty nor vile jealousy when the other concubines plotted to take her down. She also never gave up her TRUE self even when the stupid emperor shat on her and stomped on her. Ruyi is a great example of how people should be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of one’s rank, title, or job. She never cared about that when encountering with one another. Zhou Xun did such an excellent job playing Ruyi. I rarely have favorite queens but she def is the first based off this drama and performance she gave.
I think one of the reason Ruyi has this personality is because she was raise inside the palace by her aunt, the late Empress. So she basically has a grasp what's going on in there.
Her feeding the concubines with her own hands as an empress showed how kind she was and how she truly cared for the concubines and took the time to listen to what they had to say and understand their problems.
Honestly, if you were to really look at and understand. The emperor was jealous of the Empress cause she loved and cared for all her subjects and all he did was use them.
No empress will ever speak to a concubine who has tried to die for her fiance like she did. At least in the story I think ruyi saw her old self in concubine rong
All the concubines had sad lives and sad ending. But Concubine Han is the saddest of all: In love with a man who died, forced to live in forbiden city and to lay with a man she doesn't love and barely tolerante, poor girl.
