- Custom pens can be a great way to make some money at craft fairs, but you can easily increase those sales with a custom pen gift box as well. I'll show you how to make some simple gift boxes from sheet material like 1/8" or 3mm craft plywood.

I like the pen box. I subscribed for all.
Dude you give me so much info from your post that it’s so hard to retain with the amount of info. Lots to learn and your videos help so much. Thank you
I appreciate that! It's great to hear that my videos are helping people enjoy their lasers.
@@Vintauri have any input for an enclosure for a atom stack a20 max? Or tips on building your own?
@@joshuamartin7443 I have one planned for my A40 max but I have yet to get to it. Hopefully soon.
Love it. Boxes like that could work for lots of different items. Adding a couple of magnets to the top and bottom would help the box stay together as well.
You are right and I have used magnets in other designs and it would work here with some smaller ones, but I wanted to keep this one low on the extra steps and materials. I have a couple other projects that will show that use too. Thanks for watching!
Great idea - thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Ya gotta love those laser beam machines. 😃 Good video Steve. 👍🏻
They do make things fun in the shop. Thanks for checking it out!
I do the whole pen turning thing. I'm always looking for pen box ideas. Thank you.
I enjoy pen turning when I get time. They make great gifts! Thanks for watching.
Great video.
Thanks!
Awesome job. Great video. I picked up your file on Etsy and was thinking I’d make some of these for my 40 year class reunion coming up next month.
Sounds like a great use! Thanks for the support!
Same as others, I do a lot of turned pens. Really like this.
Awesome video and great job. I'll use this idea for my custom engraving business, which is Veteran owned and operated
I hope it helps you expand your business some! Thanks for watching!
Thanks, a great idea to take pen engraving to the next level.
It's a great way to add something different from all the other laser engraved pens out there!
yep
Steve, I see that Commarker is coming out with their b6 this coming Wed. A 60w mopa for $4400. Am sure tempted
I bought a 100 pack from Amazon. They are great little pens.
They are a nice balance of price and quality engraving that I like to keep them on hand.
@Vintauri Awesome design -- love this, as I do both burning with an Ikier 24W Pro, and pen turning on a small lathe. Purchase of the file complete, and it works great! To save a little bit of wood on the 12x12 piece, may I recommend changing the design so as to collapse the 3rd layer (on the left) from the bottom of the file "into" the 3rd from the top layer?
You can do that to save some material, but you might also find it's a touch loose from the kerf cut on both sides. Nothing that should matter too much unless you want a very snug fit.
Looking good!
Thanks!
Very very nice. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Great idea!
Thanks!
Great job as usual!
Thanks Sharon!
Just got me some.pens so ill be purchasing this from ya
Appreciate it
Thanks! Let me know how they work out for you!
Really cool design, i have to try that…but Amazon pens?? Nah, You turn them your self, and tripple the price 🥳 😎
That’s how I originally started this design years ago, but there are many who don’t have the time or tools to do that so it’s an option both ways. I did show one of my turned pens at the end of the video. Thanks for checking it out!
Some may like a cnc version out of thicker nice wood
I have a couple of similar CNC type projects that I'll be sharing shortly. I'll see if i can mix something like this in.
Bought and burned your box file after viewing your excellent video. Trouble is, I can't figure out how to assemble it properly. Do you have an instruction file by chance?
Are ther itty bitty hinges we can use?
Do you have the bolt action pen file?
I am thinking of making that alignment jig you are talking about, how would you suggest going about making one? Thanks
You can check out my friend over at The Clack Shack. He's got a good video on making a pen jig for a diode laser. ua-cam.com/video/IolXR39Y6A8/v-deo.html
@@Vintauri I was talking about an alignment jig for the box pieces for the pens not for the pens themselves
@@mikeledee8786 Ahh sorry about that. I would take the outline of the box and create a plate that would hold some pins along the edge of the outline to drop them all in alignment, Then the only one that would need a different setup would be the top of the base that is inset 1/8". I'll see if I can make one and show the process in a short or video.
Thanks
You said you were using 8” wood? Did you mean 8mm? I have a bunch of 1/4” maple plywood. Would that work for this project?
It's 1/8th inch material. You could use 1/4 inch as well but the parts that nest together for the top and bottom joint may seem a bit large.
I was thinking of using my CNC. I’ll let you know how it works out.
How much you laser cutter cost ??
The Roly Automation MK2 30w that I used in this video is $1599 rolyautomation.com/vintauri
