The only thing constant in life is change. All business owners have to change and adapt to keep things fresh. I've been watching you since I was pregnant with my son 4 years ago..thinking I wanted to quit my job and go full-time reselling. I actually ended up just getting a new job and only resell left over inventory very part time. I'm so much happier now. Good luck with everything.

Huge Congratulations on your precious new baby girl!
One thing I really wanted to be sure to say is to be ever so patient with yourself as you navigate these new waters of motherhood.
The sleep deprivation alone can feed depression and obviously fatigue/exhaustion. All super normal, BUT not easy. While still going through it, it’s so important to just focus on you, your baby and your man. Grab sleep every chance you get, etc etc. Try to nurture your body and mind as much as you’re able!
Then…. When recovery has been realized and baby has a fairly predictable sleep schedule, you’ll be able to proceed with wisdom and purpose.
I am a 56 yr old woman and have lived a lot of life.
I say these things to you from a heart of love and some experience! ❤️

I wish I listened to that wisdom elders gave me. Now I'm 37 and new moms My age and younger brush off my advice. Funny last wk friend 5 yrs younger called me an older mom, I'm like girl your an older mom really. When your Mt age kid will be in kinder, my youngest in 6th! I'm a young mom with older kids. She still didn't get it and said I didt get what like anymore. As her kid has iPad while we chat. So she can manage social media and talk to us mama's 😆 I keep her a friend knowing she's gonna wake up one day. But for now it's kinda humorous

I’m so thankful for those full time resellers who are so transparent about what being a full time reseller is like. You have always been one of those people. This is why you’re one of my favorite sellers to follow.
Many UA-camrs and Instagram personalities show all the good aspects, but they never share the blood, sweat, and tears you go through in order to scale up to a full time profitable annual income. They don’t talk about the algorithms that are out of your control, the lack of product, the lack of space, and time. They don’t talk about idiotic returns or the horror story buyers. You have always done so with respect for the community.
Burn out is real. Especially if you’re selling on multiple platforms. It’s down right chaotic if you’re like me who does everything all on my own from my home and a storage unit. They don’t talk how about how long it takes to list and the time spent cross listing.
I definitely would love for you to share a video on the pros and cons bc people really need to see that it’s a profitable business but it’s down right dirty somedays.
Thank you for this video! ❤️❤️

Mogi thank you for this video and your candidness. I will say these early childhood years often go by so quickly the more opportunity you have to be fully present with her …. It’s just so worth to create any changes that you can makes right now in your lifestyle that allows you more time to be fully present with her. “It goes by so fast “ is so true. I’m happy you’re able to shift some things to create the kind of “mommy hood “ you desire😊.

It’s all about finding what works for you. My youngest/3rd daughter was born 9/1996, and I moved to new home, new job, new state, 1st daughter to kindergarten and started selling on ebay. Then I added masters classes in engineering. I read the first homework problem which read over a page. I was breast feeding same time. I closed that engineering book and said goodbye to getting masters degree. Baby girl 3 is 26 yo soon and SHE is getting the masters degree. I have no regrets; she was worth it. I added etsy about 10 years ago, creating makes me happy. I’ll retire in 3-4 years and focus on etsy and ebay to downsize. It all seems doable, but I’ll change if needed. Best wishes!

Your health, your family comes first. Possibly pull back from you tube and focus on you & your family! Take walks, do yoga or meditation or what grounds you. It’s not all about reselling. I too have felt the stress of Covid, isolation and I can’t imagine trying to manage so much. I’m old, and at 63 and realize that now. Reselling is just a hobby for me! Hugs

I think you're going to be hard pressed to get a 35 ASP out of the bins, only going 3x a week, and meeting the volume you want. You may have to trade in for consignment items in order to get that ASP, but people aren't really willing to pay up right now. May have to go for even more volume and lower ASP. I've been doing bins 3 years in a major metropolitan area. Best of luck.

I wish you the best of luck, you're the reason I even made a UA-cam account because I told my husband years ago "hey this millenial really knows her stuff you have to watch." Life ebbs and flows. In my opinion the bin hauls for all resellers is a bit boring but perhaps you can find a new way to repackage that. I think with amount of knowledge you have a podcast would be a great option and so very helpful, particularly entrepreneurship info in addition to guests.

I am a new mom myself (my son just turned 11 months). I started reselling as something I can do for me as a stay at home mom and as I navigated this new territory of my life. Little did I know how time consuming and the high demand of needing to be on top of things to be successful in the reselling world. I feel like the changes you are making in your business model are much more relatable to people like me and I am very much looking forward to continue learning from you in a different way! Also, I think anything where you can do something productive in PJs and without makeup is a no brainer! Definitely go for a podcast! :)

Congrats on the baby girl!!!!!!! The one thing I love about reselling is that you can always change things up to suit your life style. Hopefully this is just something you can push through. I love reselling and one reason why I keep pushing and growing my business is bc I feel like even if i get married and have kids It will be easier than juggling a 9-5 and taking care of my family. with reselling most of the task I do can be done in my own time only thing I have to do in set hours is shop bc I have to go to the goodwill when they are open. I personally only source from the bins and in my area I can easily source 30 items in 2-3 hours. The more time you spend at the outlet the more good Items you find. Since I have been going 3 times a week I find 2-3 items a week that will resell for $100 or more and my average sale price has went up about $15 per item. I think you will be fine by only shopping at the bins. You are an expert at the brands so I think you will be able to spot hidden jewels that so many other ppl miss. I dont know if you still have employees of not but if you do you may want to consider building a business that only needs you and not other employees. I have heard other resellers with employees say that they could pocket just as much by having a smaller store vs a bigger store with more overhead. My personal goal is to clear 6 figures by myself with out employees so that is how Im trying to build my business. But I dont think you should stress too much bc the bins are a great and you will probably still be able to find tons of high selling items!!!!!!!!! Do what is best for you and your current situation!!!!!!!

However now I kinda hate dealing with it. I hate sewing and my loud machine, finding the materials to make the item, constantly cleaning up, and delivering packages on time. Also even though I’m only paying myself $15 an hour to make and package the item my product prices are still high (ex $9 for a scrunchie) I’m at a crossroad because I want to always have a means of making income even if I lose my job or if my bills get high. Like I constantly crave stability. I devoted so much to establishing my business so I don’t want to give it up. But it just doesn’t bring me any joy anymore.

I so admire your decision. I braved the bins for the first time while visiting Las Vegas -- in that city there is one outlet & it's a very competitive place, they rotate the bins frequently. I was astonished at the amount of unsold clothing + a peek in the backroom showed huge boxes of apparel in endless rows stacked to the ceiling. Resellers who devote themselves to saving goods from the planetary trash heaps of clothing are heroic in my book. You'll be successful❣️

Congrats!! Do what works for you!!. I started reselling as a new mom. It has allowed me freedom & time with my daughter. My daughter had her baby hood in thrift stores with my hubby watching her for big thrift sales etc. But it definitely effected the way I built my business and my scale. Also I have other income streams (I manage two rental properties & make jewelry etc) plus my husband owns his own business. Also having a home office made life easier for me with full time parenting my daughter. Each season of life needs change and flow. Best wishes!

Just watched your latest video about slowing down and slowing down is a good idea. Now you have a baby you will not believe how quickly they grow up even though I am a grandma it seems like my youngest granddaughter who is four was four months old last year and now she’s getting ready to go to preschool so enjoy that time with your baby girl and there’s nothing wrong with selling mall brands I have about 450 pieces myself and if I sell something I sell something if I don’t I don’t and it’s been there for three years and then I read donated to get rid of it so thanks for Sharing and enjoy your life

Sounds like a good plan. My brother lives near Portland. Someone told him to go to Goodwill to get something. He accidentally went to one of the bins. He was a bit shocked. His description of his experience was hysterical.

Wasn't it nice to be on a vacation from the toxicity of the new personalities in our community that has warped it so badly. I used to love this and have since 1998 but now the people are so terrible that it outweighs the legitimately GOOD people that haven't left yet. All the tea and the backbiting and drama and etc

I think one of the biggest lessons of the pandemic is that you need to be able to identify how and when to pivot in any kind of business, so good for you for recognizing this was time for a change! In addition to changes in your personal life, there are changes in the reselling world that are really relevant here. Poshmark is not the platform it used to be, and while it is not dead, it may not come back in the same way...so you definitely have to course correct!
I will say that while I love podcasts, I don't listen to reselling-related ones. While I was watching the video I kept thinking about WhatNot - that seems like it really fits in well with the low COGs model and would help you with the volume of sales you need. I know it is kind of a reselling third rail right now (I have mixed feelings myself), but I feel like you would be a natural there and I think you would bring a great energy and a professionalism that WhatNot definitely needs!

I started my reselling 5 yrs ago after I retired sort of like a hobby to keep myself busy and I have been following you for some time now, you are great at what you do and you have helped me tremendously 🤗 but Motherhood tends to change your outlook on life and your priorities will change, you do what you feel is right for YOU ! Your little one will now take up alot of your time and that’s the way it should be 👶 In time when things settle down you can re-evaluate your decision. Good luck to you and Congratulations on your beautiful and precious baby girl 🎀

I’m in Chattanooga, TN and our goodwill bins is HORRIBLE. There are MAYBE 15 bins total and it’s all junk. Lol! Not to mention the building is run down and disgusting. I drive to ATL twice a month to source. 🤦‍♀️ There are a few great thrifts here but the bins as a consistent source are out for me, unfortunately.

I echo the folks who would like to see pros/cons content, if only to commiserate in that comment section haha. Re: relisting, I just emailed you a link (to your newsletter contact, hope that's okay!) for free use of our relisting tool that resets just-in dates. I have to drive 1-2 hours to get to the bins. Lately not so great. I find slim pickings at the thrifts, but prices way up) and it is trickling down to the bins imo. Delisting and relisting sending bulk offers and accepting offers is what I do and my sales this past year have tripled. I do it all myself. It’s not easy I work 10-12 hours a day most days. I was wondering what your take is on live sales? What Not and now Posh lives? Personally, I have 0 interest. I find them boring and I can’t see the average buyer sitting through hours of live sales. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

It’s a great time to pivot. Having a baby puts things in perspective. My son is leaving for college tomorrow, University of Oregon, and I live in Texas so I spent much of the summer doing things with him instead of on my reselling business. In general, I’m finding it harder to be excited about reselling. It’s a lonely job. Many resellers have jumped onto whatnot but that’s not something I’m interested in. I actually purchased a few items on whatnot and have been disappointed with the quality. So, I’m just trying to sell off my 600+ items in my Poshmark closet and “retire”(I’m 58). I love your content and know whatever you decide to do, you’ll be a success!

I am just getting ready to possibly enter into re-selling on Poshmark to earn some extra money and I have bought a scale, but wanting to get lights and a background and dress form, but my concern right now is inflation and are people willing to pay the prices for used or slightly used items at this time? So many people are cutting out any spending. Do you think it is an appropriate time to get into this business? Will I be able to make any money or will people want to offer less where I can't make any money after paying 20% and shipping? I still have about 250 dollars to spend on the body form and background, etc. Any advice is appreciated and best wishes on being a new mom.

I feel that your family needs to come first and it sounds like that is what you are trying to do. I appreciate this video and take care of that baby of yours, a mom of 4 and my kids are all grown but seriously I still feel they were all just born yesterday. So these early years are precious and you don't get them back so take all advantage of this time. And kudos to Matt for being so understanding and giving you the support you need right now. I am just a part time reseller, not planning on going full time but I do work a separate job full time so I don't have time and I get stressed with all the listing and pics and such. take care and hope the best for you....

Happy to hear you are adjusting to a model that works for you... the joy of being a reseller glad you're still reselling. You are such an inspiring person and having the work drain you and your excitement through liquidation and bringing things to an exchange to rid the stuff not worth listing seems draining. Being a specialist in reselling seems to be more exciting for you. I came across a brand you mentioned from a video Nilo Lotan, then I realized item was a target collab for pants so not a margin of profit like the dresses so I left item. Like Hunter vs Target Hunter Boots. Hang in there, thanks for your thoughts.

Happiness is not a function of what you achieve. It's a function of how you spend your time. Adam Grant.
You might enjoy taking the Strengthsfinder test online. Not free but a writeoff! It's mostly used in the corporate world but I love deep dives into what people REALLY love. The why behind the what. Entrepreneurs make all the pieces fit and we can get lost sometimes. I tell myself now that I want every year to be different. But I need to make sure I'm intentional. Great video.
