Love Colin! He is so right and reminded me of my mother (also Irish) that the USA would wind up in a massive Civil War - and that was decades ago! Think of her often these days for that reason. Sorry about the passing of your Mom, Colin - may she rest in peace. An Irish mother is like no other...will see you on West 11th Street at some point...next year 🙏 Been thinking of Brian and hope he is OK through this. Stay safe, stay humorous and stay sane ! Máire✨
Quinn nailed it. Obviously the US isnt a country any more if it ever was, its a amalgamation of many political groups who no longer agree with the founding principles of the US (small limited govt, maximum individual freedom), so the best solution is to break up into separate countries.
It's not even possible to have people who believe in the founding principals. Social Security Numbers (kids) are being raised by government employees for more hours a day than they get from their parents. Their parents were raised by the government employees for 8ish hours a day too. In what world is that going to produce anything but totalitarianism?
The difference between America and the Former Soviet Republics is that they were more or less ethnically and culturally homogeneous geographical regions, with a clear history and territory. There is division in the USA, but it is not between Oklahoma and Connecticut. The divisions are not territorial or geographic, they are between neighbor and neighbor. The divisions are ideological, and not geographical. They are woven into the fabric of the Nation. How do you break that up?
Colin should be old enough to remember that the 60s were also a time of unrest and violent divisiveness. And there wasn't even an internet. Some of this is setting ourselves up for a self fulfilling prophecy
"technology has come before that changed the way we communicate, why is this time different?" Funny you should ask. Ever hear of a man named Joseph Goebbels?
"I'm not political" codes as "I think this level of societal advancement is fine by me" which is precisely the same conservative line we've been accepting from government since Reagan or at least Gingrich. It is the kind of thing one says when one has never so much as applied for a passport.
Or it's not a code at all and it means exactly that. America is full of people who are happy living in their community, where they have deep ties to people, places, institutions. They invest heavily in family and their church and would find it odd to hear that you need to have a passport to be enlightened. They're pretty content with a life they've invested heavily in. America is also filled with relatively rootless people living atomized lives who flatter themselves thinking their obsession with politics is a deep concern for the state of society.
That’s great. Especially the bit about people posting their comments/opinions for the entire world to read, all day long. We are so full of crap.

@@VegetoStevieD Very simple minded comment. Hope you've evolved. Cheers

That's an accusation without a supporting argument. Clearly projection.
@@VegetoStevieD no what you said was just too dumb to argue with
