  • Let's take a look at an impressive stand-alone SmartWatch that is a GSM phone (i.e. AT&T/T-Mobile in the USA). It's running Android 5.1 and has on-board Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, front-facing camera, Heart Rate Monitor, GPS and much more!

    I purchased one of these after viewing your review. Got the watch, charged it for a couple hours and booted it up. No problem. I opened apps and tested , checked all the faces and checked it out from end to end just like I would to a smart phone. About tow hours of operating it decided to reboot for no apparent reason. That was the end of the device, caught in an endless rebooting loop that never finished the boot process.The seller would not replace it due to high shipping cost from china and offered a 50% refund, so buyer beware. I contacted Lemfo and they were no help either. Amazon stepped in and refunded my full amount ($107).

      Hi Chuck, sorry you got a bad unit! Mine is still going strong after a year and 2 months. If you still have the unit, keep it on the charger overnight (powered off - if you can) and see if it's fine the next day. It does sound like it's either a corrupt image or possibly a hardware fault. When that happened, did you install any new apps to it? Perhaps it's an app that was installed that freaked out the LEM4 Pro? Just trying to come up with something that might help.

    Re the Lem4 Pro I bought: I went to “settings” and then “connect”, but there is no “mobile data” option, only “cellular networks” and then “access point names” and then “network operators”. Hi, I'm using my LEM4 Pro with T-Mobile and I can establish a data connection. However, it does appear "spotty" at my location. When I'm near my computers I have one bar and the data connection is intermittent. However, in our living room I can get good coverage (2-3 bars) and the data connection works fine (with WiFi disabled). I did not have to make any specific changes, though I did install an app. called "Gesture Search" which does expose more settings. Not sure if that is helpful or not. What carrier are you using?

      Thanks :) The Defender is an original from 1981 I found on Facebook Marketplace. The Donkey Kong (far right) is one I built myself from scratch. The brown one (may not be able to tell) with the wood-grain is one I bought several years ago (68-1), it was our first. There is another on the far left that my son and I rebuilt. I have videos on how we restored it, here if you want to watch it (not my best editing job): ua-cam.com/video/TT6iFCWC5_M/v-deo.html
      None of these are the Arcade 1Ups that you see at Wal-Mart. The 1Ups are 3/4 the size and have a fixed number of games. The two we built/rebuilt are running RetroPie (I have videos on that too if interested) and you can install thousands of games. Hope this answered your question, maybe TMI :)

      I understand, I didn't think I could do it either. But, it was a lot of fun and not that hard building these. Before grabbing the 1up, you may want to see this: ua-cam.com/video/z6cLuSXXvnY/v-deo.html Basically, it's an NES case with a Raspberry Pi (small single board computer) that you install into the case. Then, you copy your games to the microSD card. I have another video I'm editing and will be releasing hopefully this week on how to add Arcade Joysticks to it. Something like this will get your feet wet on how easy this stuff really is. Nothing at all against the 1ups, they're cool cabinets. I guess it all depends on what you're looking for. Best wishes for whatever you decide on!

So because of this I have bought many things involving Bluetooth over the years because of UA-cam reviews that really didn't work well around my house. Beautiful watch phone. This question might be stupid but I haven't seen any review speaking about the quality of voice calls. Is it good? Can it be used with a hands free? And the camera only has ine lens used mainly for selfies? Is it also GSM multiband for worldwide use?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 роки тому

      Hi Eduardo, no stupid questions! It can be used hands-free either via Bluetooth or speaker phone. It's plenty loud on speaker phone. The camera is indeed front-facing, not my preference either but makes sense for those who want to use it with Skype. It is a GSM phone, I presume it would work world-wide but I honestly haven't traveled outside the US with it. Hope this answered your questions.

      Hello Wagner. Thank you for your reply. All issues clear as water. Two more concerns: Is the battery removable in case one has to change it? And second, you mention that it has worldwide use. However, no mention is made of the frequencies it has. For example, in my country, Colombia, my operator (Milicom International, TIGO) uses 1900 for GSM. Another issue: I have seen this phone, exactly the same, with other brands such as "Torntisc" and others, all with different prices and sold by reliable, widely known companies. Are all these watchphones the same? At least the specifications are the same. Again thank you for your kindness and all the very best. EDUARDO

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  4 роки тому

      Hi Eduardo, if the battery is removable, it's not "easily" removable. There are 4 screws on the back, I'm not about to take mine apart no telling if I'd be able to get it back together lol. In the link from the video description it states the following: Frequency Band: 2G: GSM 850 900 1900 / 3G: WCDMA 850 2100. I can't comment on other brands if they are the same or not. I'm just a customer of this watch and liked it enough to make a video review of it. There are many videos I start that I never post because I didn't like the product. This one, I like and I've been using it for almost a full year!

      @@WagnersTechTalk Hello Wagner, thanks for your help. It seems it does work here in Colombia. Problem solved. And I am very happy that it has a removable battery. I have always considered a removable battery whenever I buy cellphone a top feature. Sealed batteries, perhaps the most stupid decision imposed by Apple, is like having your car's engine hood sealed with no access to the engine or battery!! One final question before I order: This phone will accept Whatsapp app? This is very important. I've only used mine with a SIM, T-Mobile had a sweet deal to add a watch line for $5 a month which is what I'm using. Typically, Bluetooth will give you a range of up to 30 feet. But, it also is based on interference from other devices/obstacle. I use a Bluetooth headset with this watch frequently and don't have issues but the watch+headset are within 3-4 feet. Works fine outdoors as well. What kind of range are you seeing? Are there walls between the two? I had one viewer that told me that he/she had range issues as well (from the UK), but the walls in his/her home were very solid (not sheet-rock). That would definitely impact range.

      Totally up to you. But, if you want to get out cheaper you can enable the WiFi hotspot on your phone (depending on your carrier) and connect your watch over WiFi to your phone. That way, you can access the internet without having a sim in the watch (which would likely cost extra per month). The disadvantage is, you would need to have your phone somewhere near your watch. The WiFi range, etc. would depend mostly on the type of phone you have. For more info., check with your mobile carrier.

So, instead of purchasing a new account and SIMM card, I hope to try the bluetooth calling and messaging notification. Have you tried that on this watch? How's the sound quality when using the bluetooth?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 років тому +2

      I use a cheap pair of bluetooth headphones (~$25 on Amazon) and the watch sounds great. I use it everytime I go to the gym to listen to iHeartRadio over their WiFi. I think the quality of the audio would be more a characteristic of the headphones you use with it, but in terms of stable audio streams to the headphones - it's solid for me. I leave my larger cellphone in the gym bag and only use this watch. I hope this helps.

    whats the difference between the DM99 and the lemfo4pro ?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 років тому +1

      I can honestly only comment on the LEM4Pro. I don't have a DM99 to do any actual comparison between the two. That said, looking at the specs they do appear identical. I'm going totally off what I'm reading on Amazon in that statement.
      After having the LEM4 Pro now for just barely over 3 months, I still wear it daily. Looking back at some of my videos since then, you always see it on my wrist. Keep in mind, I don't have sponsors that send me this stuff. Everything I show on my channel was purchased by me because it seemed like something I would use. The LEM4 Pro is one I continue to use daily. There certainly could be cheaper/better options, but I can only review what I personally own. I appreciate your question and answered it as best I can.

    how to turn on the mobile data

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  5 років тому

      First, insert the SIM card, power off the watch and back on. It should then recognize the carrier. When the phone powers on, swipe up->down, then left->right. You'll see an icon near the middle with an arrow pointing down/up. Tap that to enable the data connection. Try placing a phone call first. If that works, try the browser (i.e. google.com) to see if you can connect. If not, check the signal strength. Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

      Yes I have. I enabled WiFi Hotspot on my Samsung Galaxy S7 and easily connected from the LEM4Pro (over Wifi) to the phone and was able to use any internet-enabled apps. I do also have a SIM card in mine and it works fine, though a little spotty (t-mobile) in my area -it works fine in-town.

      Gotcha, really can't fault the watch for that one though. It does work fine for me on t-mobile and they don't charge extra for the hotspot feature. The Wiiwatch app. has a bit to be desired, sometimes it shows Chinese characters and messages in German, I rarely use it :) But, that's external from the watch and not needed for regular usage anyways.

      @WagnersTechTalk  5 років тому +2

      One other minor point, I received a text from t-mobile about 2 years ago where I could add an additional sim to my account for $5 a month. I think the promotion was intended for android watches that they were selling, but found I could use my own just fine and they had no problem with it. It really is $5 a month, I have been using it in a few smart watches since. Couldn't beat the price.

      I installed the app. and played with it a little, really found no useful need for it. Basically you pair the bluetooth from the watch to the app. on your phone. It's not hard, but it's not likely something you'll keep connected for very long.
