Hagler's hatred of Sugar Ray goes back to when Sugar Ray had Hagler fly down to Washington D.C. for a big announcement he was going to make. Everyone thought he was going to say that he'd be fighting Hagler but it turns out he said that a fight between him and Hagler would never happen. Typical Sugar Ray Leonard...all about himself.

@Madhujya Burhagohain No way. If it was even, the nod should go to the champ. Look at the first 5 rounds, Leonard won them clearly. Hagler is the better fighter, and was never hurt, but Leonard clearly out pointed Hagler. Hagler fought a bad fight that night.

Don't be ridiculous 😂😂 If the challenger wins the fight by just one point then he deserves the title and that's that. The champion already has the advantage of keeping the belt in the event of a draw.

I watched Hagler - Leonard at a closed circuit site. when I saw them both enter the ring, I told my friend that Hagler is going to fight without aggression and lose a decision. It was obvious. The only thing that makes me think that he didn't throw the fight is how much he was bothered by the loss. He would have lost the decision to Duran if it was a 12 round fight.

    The Marvelous One.
@60 He cleaned out the DIVISION taking on the Top Contenders.
He also smacked down the other fighters in the middle and bottom of the Division.
Most of the Middleweights got a shot at Hagler.
A few got him early in his career before he won the belt @60.
Willie the Worm Monroe and Bobby Boogaloo Watts eeeked out decisions fighting him.
But in the rematches he TKO'D Monroe twice and avenged his loss to Watts by TKO.
After that Ray Leonard was the only other fighter to beat him.
Thus Hagler finished it out at 63-3-2.
My 👤 Hagler is right up there with the other Great Middleweights Sugar Ray Robinson, the Great Carlos Monzon, Emilie Griffith and the other Great Middle Weights of the 40's, 50's and 60's.

@@tomulator It wasn't that he lost it was the way it was accomplished. Hagler didn't lose he was robbed. Yes Ray fought a masterful fight enough to win a normal 10 or 12 round non title fight. However he DID NOT DO ENOUGH TO TAKE A CHAMPIONS TITLE. The same way Norton was robbed in 76 against Ali, like De la Hoya was gifted a couple decisions. All three of these men had star appeal outside the ring to the casual observer. This is why most hard core fight fans dislike the Leonard's and Ali's of the world. They get to a point where they CAN'T lose because it would hurt the sport. Oh Hagler has always shown more class than SRL and he wasn't a coke head like Leonard became later . Go watch Ray's second fight with Hearns....another classic robbery.

Marvin , I was there at Wembley, London , when you beat our man Alan Minter. I’m sorry that you were not given the respect that you were due that night. It was not personal at all but many were caught up in the highly charged atmosphere of the occasion. Which is no excuse but is the truth.
Many of those same people , I’m sure, went on to admire and respect you for the great fighter and man , that you have proved to be. Thank you sir , for the fantastic memories.

He came through the hard way not by winning medals but the back street wars .He was in the worlds top ten pound for pound fighters of all time. To take so long to get to the summit cos no one wanted to fight him then take 11 defences against No 1 contenders was awesome and I still say he narrowly won against Leonard cos yanks score on aggresion

@Timeoftroubles Leonard won the first 4 rounds of the fight & it was an uphill battle for Hagler after that...he was too passive in the beginning, didn't start trying to cut off the ring until later in the fight & some of those flurries at the end of rounds definitely slowed him down...SRL fought the smartest fight he could possibly fight

@Timeoftroubles the good ol days bro!!!! Salvador Sanchez was a hell of a fighter, one of the greats in my opinion, its a shame what happened smh I remember when Hearns knocked out Cuevas, the hardest I'd seen a welterweight hit...I feared for Ray once they signed to fight

@Timeoftroubles I have to agree, thing's changed after that fight.I think Ray was a great fighter but to my eye's Hagler was from another time.Old school had some rules to it.like when you fight the champ you have to clearly beat him to take the belt.Miss the saturday aft. fight's that used to be common.Sanchez was like a rock star to me,i was 14 when he died.Shocked me.Very nice to hear from you,i hope your day is as good as your memories.
