My head gasket just blew on the weekend, I have a little bit of mechanical knowledge so I’m confident I could tackle the job or atleast get it stripped down to have someone else put back together. Your video is a life saver will be referring back to it as I follow your exact steps in stripping it down, legend!
Ah that's the best news for a bad situation, I'm glad htis has given you the confidence to prepare and undertake the project. Let me know if you need anything on instagram @primal_nomad 👌🙏good luck & thanks for watching 🔥
Thanks for sharing, great video. It’s a shame it didn’t work out after all that hard work and Tom is an excellent mechanic, your lucky to have his help.
Thanks for watching Andy! Really glad you enjoyed it. I'm ever so lucky to have such a skilled friend in Tom - make sure to check his channel on UA-cam too its called Smoke Steam Swarf :)
I hate to remove the intake manifold side, built so tiny space for get into hand, the rest all good.after done intalling, we remap it and get it boost into 35psi .good feel on track.
Buy a simple cheaper motor Liam, vehicles should never be considered as a status symbol, vehicles are just a simple mode of transport and the simpler and cheaper they are should always be a top consideration to everybody, not buying expensive to run and fix status symbols that go wrong all the time and cost a bomb to fix with new part's. Good job you do a lot of the work yourself. Cylinder heads are a big job, done a few inline four motorbike heads back in my biking days, bloody thing's. Good job you have a Diesel doctor as a friend too. That motor is a money magnet mate.
Haha! If I wasn't so far invested I would. To be honest it's a great motor now this has been done and sorting the last few niggles this year. It's definitely not a status symbol more the only thing I have and I want it niceish for the most part. Appreciate your comment and hope you're well Paul! 🙏🔥
@@PrimalNomad No fair play Liam and I didn't actually mean you were considering it as a status symbol but so many people do though with big expensive motor's, I had a Delica 4x4 people carrier, new model not old square box, a long time back, nice motor but bloody expensive so I sold it on and bought a Fiesta, did exactly the same as the Delica but without off road capabilites. Cheers and all the best to you and your partner mate.
What really is the difference with the coolant colors? Mine is also currently pink, although I never do top-ups of the coolant since I flush and change the fluid consistently every 18,000miles. I could not remember anymore if the very first coolant used when I bought my truck was green.
So apparently there is nothing extraordinary in L248 antifreezes. They, like most SAE J1034 coolants, are formulated with ethylene glycol, water and a package of organic and inorganic additives. But unlike other coolants, there are no silicate compounds in this antifreeze. This has a positive effect on the intensity of heat removal from the cooling jacket to the coolant due to the formation of a film with higher thermal conductivity. L248 has a greenish tint. Due to its less enriched and balanced additive package, it ages slightly faster than other Nissan branded products. Coolants L250 and L255 are blue. Their service life has been increased to 5 years. In terms of the impact on the cooling system and the intensity of heat dissipation, there is no difference between most branded antifreezes for Nissan vehicles.
Hi Bill, unfortunately he doesn't take on any works commercially or personally, he's just a great mate who I'm lucky to know. Paul gate from hcr autocentre is my best suggestion or Wayne Powell. :)

Damn I've had a head pass a pressure test and then crack 3 days later, sucks man.
Yeah it was really bad luck but a good learning experience and just a bit of extra time 😂. Thanks for watching! 🙏
These engines appear to have just evolved. There doesn't appear to be any design involved. Nissan should be ashamed.
That's a fair observation to be honest! They're a bit of a mash up for sure. 🤣
