When it was originally filmed, the beginning for 2 was actually supposed to be the ending for 1. But with the reaction they were getting from screen testing they knew there was going to be a second movie and decided to ending/beginning.
I think many people miss something important about Johnny. He did NOT want to cheat. Kreese was ordering Johnny to “ sweep the leg” and Johnny was giving the @ I don’t believe this” look. Kreese gets in Johnny’s face and asks if there is a problem when the body language on Johnny clearly convey that Johnny is indeed upset about it.
On an Air Canada flight from Toronto to Edmonton they showed this as the in-flight movie the summer it came out and the crane kick happened just as we were touching down. Well that pilot must have thought he greased the landing the way the entire airplane was cheering. 😊
To me, this is an absolutely perfect scene. The intensity of the music really elevates the moment, the lines, the moment, it is so awesome. It still makes me emotional watching it.
I can tell you something I was 12 when this came out and I was with my friends and family all of us in the parking lot did the crane kick . Everyone was doing it the theater was packed good times
It's funny that George from CineBinge says "Oh, it just ends". I'd have thought he'd be familiar with some of the classic Hong Kong movies, which also roll credits like 10 seconds after the final fight.
Watching all these reactions/ I've realized one noticeable thing that is all these people would hold grudges more than the ghost from the grudge horror movie.
I definitely need to properly watch Cobra Kai... all of it... but all I'll say is that I've heard they cover one important thing, that the kick is to the head, with "Well that ref wasn't calling anything, Johnny should have gotten DQ'd on targeting the knee anyway so there". Honestly, that last bout feels like one of those wrestling matches where the title is on the line and the ref is giving the heel leeway but only because the face can't win a title by DQ... which, as a lengthy aside, is usually an indicator that the heel was crap at cheating because in WWE, the ref is supposed to almost always call anything they see and count the same pin cadence every time and it's on the wrestlers to a) hide their cheating if necessary and b) kick out on time. Damien Priest got a stern talking to this year when the ref had to pretend he saw his shoulder moving because otherwise the story for the end of the match would have been ruined, though. Okay, aside over, I think the scene still works, I just seem to be rambling an awful lot today.
Even tho these guys are my favorite reactors,I can tell they're a different generation than mine..cause they keep saying it abruptly ends ..what else y'all want after 2 hrs??? Lol
Everybody says Johnny handled it with class and respect by telling him he was alright...but wait till you see Part 2..he is and always will be a jerk....
Johnny doesn't do anything in Part II. He stands up to his coach, gets choked for it and Myagi steps in and saves him. Ali with an I leaves Daniel for some football player off screen. The villain is Okinawan. It's Kreese that is a total asshole through the 3 movies with Daniel San.
A punch to the face was not allowed, however a kick to the face was perfectly fine. Both Johnny and Dutch were shown scoring points with kicks to the head in earlier bouts in the tourney.
No, you can clearly kick to the face. Ali said you can hit the head, and during the montage of the tournament, Daniel gets kicked in the face by Dutch, and Dutch gets awarded a point. The ref doesn't even say that Johnny's punch to the face is illegal, just that no point was awarded.
How so? Kicks to the head are allowed. Punches to the head are what’s illegal. In Tae Kwon Don head kicks are even worth twice than body blows. Perhaps it’s all single points in Karate Do, but they’re legal nonetheless.
If that kick was illegal, then Johnny should have been disqualified for the elbow to the knee illegal move... That was awful... The ref was definitely letting them play in this fight

I saw it in theaters and the ending still holds up today. I'm not sure why modern reactors think the ending is abrupt, it feels just right to me!
Most movies nowadays never end that quickly.
It’s cause it doesn’t have an aftermath or epilogue. They just ended right at the climax and that’s fine.
Right? I'm like, that's a great ending! We must be too old. 🤣🤣🤣
When it was originally filmed, the beginning for 2 was actually supposed to be the ending for 1. But with the reaction they were getting from screen testing they knew there was going to be a second movie and decided to ending/beginning.
It left on a high note! 🎉 I remember this movie in boarding school. Everyone has Karate fever 🤒!
"Sweep the leg"
"Get em a bodybag!"

Being a middle aged man with sore knees the shot that Daniel takes from Johnny has extra meaning now.
To me, this is an absolutely perfect scene. The intensity of the music really elevates the moment, the lines, the moment, it is so awesome. It still makes me emotional watching it.

Mr. Miyagi is the best character in this franchise.
Mr. Miyagi is the only reason it became a franchise (until recent years with Cobra Kai, anyway).
RIP Mr. Miyagi 🙏🏽

The sound effects on Daniel Crane kick was crazy cool
Believe me this movie shows a great ending of a winning match but it's legendary! Even though Johnny shows respect during his lost 🥋🥋
The OST of “Daniel’s Moment Of Truth” just makes this scene.
Shout out to 80s punch / kick sound effects. 😂
Actually daniel won by his skills rather than rely on strengths.
If you wanna know what happened next, then you need to watch the very beginning of Karate Kid: Part II. It's worth it.
The final fight is much more intense in that one. More stakes, no music for 90% of it, and no rules.
How are they not crying at that ending????

Addie you should watch Cobra Kai
Awesome video.
Erma GAWD!

Illegal face kick in this competition. Street fights doesn't matter.
Sweep the leg move also illegal
Everybody says Johnny handled it with class and respect by telling him he was alright...but wait till you see Part 2..he is and always will be a jerk....

I liked the Family Guy veri.
"You're alt right Laruso!"
"F*** you, you tried to cripple me!"
They say "winner".
She asks if he won.
😐
Wasn't it said that strikes to the face don't count?
Yes, Daniel shouldn't have earned that point.
A punch to the face was not allowed, however a kick to the face was perfectly fine. Both Johnny and Dutch were shown scoring points with kicks to the head in earlier bouts in the tourney.

@@stonecoldku4161 I always took that punch as not "clean". It was sort of across his nose rather than a straight on punch.
“Fist Strikes” to the face don’t count.
Actually Daniel cheated with the kick to the head.

@@ChrisTheKing172you're right both of those moves were illegal
Movie is still snd always be meh at best. Never get the hype of it.
