"Not worth carrying the RPG" Sounds like someone who hasn't had to blow up the BTR at the CNPP on the hardest difficulty. Words cannot express the sheer vindication I felt carrying that shit for the whole march north.
I strongly disagree with you on the AN-94 and the L85. The AN-94 with the PSO-1 scope and on 2 round burst is an early sniper. And the L85, on single shot is literally a sniper (with the insane first shot accuracy boost). The problem is that a lot of people don't know how to change firing mode and consequently don't know how to properly use these guns.
yeah but u can get the fast shooting ak74 which is more accurate than the an94 and u get it earlier and the l85 is 5kg and worse than the LR300 and the an94 and the ak74
The nicest thing you can say about the IL-86 is that it's EXTREMELY faithful to it's real-life counterpart, the L85A1, also known as the "Civil Servant" because it doesn't work and can't be fired. Shit was so bad the Brits hired Heckler & Koch to redesign it, and H&K proceeded to basically toss all the internal components into the bin and keep only the outer shell of the gun - minus the plastic furniture, which was originally made of super cheap plastic that would shatter if you looked at it funny. The resulting L85A2 (and the latest redesign, L85A3) is basically a different gun wearing the L85A1's skin.
I actually used the SVD for both playthroughs of SOC to get me through the end game. Before I left for the Brain Scorcher I had so much money I could buy the boolat suit and an SVD with tons of ammunition, reason being at the time I believed that I would have to take into account the bullet drop of the Vintar, and in belief that SVD would be a guaranteed headshot machine (it was). Now seeing your video, next time I'll give the Vintar a shot.
The SVD is not bad at all. In my opinion I think it's such an increadible weapon for mid to long range since bullet velocity is extremely quick and there is virtually no bullet drop off like Vintar. Also, it is very VERY powerful. You CAN actually buy ammunition for it after you side with one of the factions (duty or freedom).
In my last SOC playthrough right before the release of S2, i used mainly the SVD and boy oh boy I'm never going back to using a Vintar. the SVD is a thousand times more diabolical and disrespectful.
I think the SVD is perfectly fine. It does a lot of damage and has enough fire rate for quick follow up shots. The bullet trajectory is also a lot flatter than the Vintar at range. I use the Vintar mainly for short ranged silenced headshots. You can get the ammo from Petrenko or the guy from Freedom, depending on who you ally with.
I'll always check out new stalker content! Great video my guy, although i do disagree with IL86 but then again i single fire and use the super bullet mechanic as intended in vanilla for most of the time. Love this kind of content!
The Obokan is a great budget option, its not too heavy and the ammo is common, i basically used the Obokan and the TRS as my main weapons for most of the game While the Obokan is not the greatest, it is the best non unique weapon you can get for that ammo type, and it is just fitting to use an AK in this game aint it?
Except the Abakan is NOT an AK. It's a Gennadiy Nikonov design, NOT a Mikhail Kalashnikov one. In fact, the AN-94 (Avtomat Nikonova model 94) was originally designed as a replacement for the AK-74, but it was judged too complicated and expensive, so the Russian Federation stuck with the time-tested Kalashnikov. Speaking of which, I think it's funny to note that pretty much every "new" AK made since (such as the AK-100 series and nowadays the AK-12) is really just an AK-74M with a fresh coat of paint, plastic instead of wood, and maybe one or two modified parts. In other words, a conversion kit.
The Obokan is a very accurate weapon. However, it has a major deadly flaw: unreliability. Even at near perfect condition and shooting in single firing mode, it jams, a lot. You would be better off with the Fast Firing AK.
I got 300+ ammo for the underdeveloped ak, just by killing soldiers that are southern from the rookie village, so for early-early game, its enough, but I recommend switching it to the ak asap, cuz accuracy is just bullshit
1:25 They got the weight wrong. It should be 5kg full, not 5kg empty. 3:00 That never made sense because it's not heavy IRL. 3:02 7.62x54R (an all-purpose caliber that's been around since the 1890s) would be way more common than 9x39 (a special-purpose caliber that's still relatively young) IRL. 3:22 Only because it's an alternate timeline. 3:45 Not to mention the sluggish rocket speed! Anomaly does the RPG-7 justice. 3:48 Pseudogiants in ShoC can be felled with buckshot using a sawed-off. You don't even need to use 40-mils on them. In the other core games, 40-mils are the prime choice. In all Zone games and mods, grenade launchers and 40-mils are the most overall useful explosive devices. Way more convenient than a rocket launcher, and unlike hand grenades, they're accurate and consistent.
Even 5kg when full is pretty ridiculous when you consider that the FN FAL, the gun it was supposed to replace, was about the same weight. Let that sink in. A bullpup rifle chambered in 5.56 is somehow just as heavy as a full-sized battle rifle chambered in 7.62. What an absolute piece of shit lmao.
@@mr.mastermind4840 you can finish the game with almost anything other than a pistol. I'm playing on max difficulty rn and can safely say the abakan would be borderline useless.

Wow, 1 thing I learned from this video is that halbautomatisch is german for full auto. Does the "half automatic" logic in german come from the fact that you still have to load, aim, start/stop firing, control recoil, reload, perform maintenance to ensure the gun functions without jamming? If a gun would be truly "full auto" it would do that. But maybe I'm overthinking this and it's some boring reason.

Maybe calling them the worst guns is a bit misleading, maybe they could be called redundant, under-used or unnecesary guns of Shadow of Chernobyl. Still, cool video!
I would say it even more diffrent, the guns trauma listed here arent bad if you know how to use them, from my own (and other peoples in the comments) experiese the weapons like IL-86 and obokan arent meant to be mere Assault Rifles, obokan excels in accuracy when shooting in bursts or semi-auto, making it a good early game mid range weapon, while the IL-86 is a poor-mans sniper rifle, having high damage on first round, using good ammunition, and a large magazine at the cost of heavy weight and low durability, i wont be defending the RPG here tho, as we use it exclusively on enemies like pseudogiants and BTRs in Prypiat, making it more of a unique "campaign" weapon you get a chance to use once or twice, and as for the short AK, i personally think its a weapon between Viper 5 and regular AK, sort of Like a heavier hitting SMG
The aks-72u is one of those guns I think looks really cool, and it'd be fun to do with a playthrough with, and then I use it for more than 10 minutes and can't wait to get the full length rifle instead lol
I think the PMm also deserves a spot on this list. This gun is so bad that it almost single-handedly created the "vanishing bullets" myth. At least the RPG is funny, this pistol is just a disaster
I don't agree with you on the SVD, I think it's the best sniper, you can buy 30 rounds of 7.62x54mmR from Petrenko every restock, so ammunition is plentiful, it doesn't have the bullet drop of the VSS, use it with a good pistol (big ben or kora with hydroshock ammo) and you have the best mid-long range weapon in the whole game (except for the gauss rifle, which isn't available until the CNPP) and a close-range headtapping machine with really quick movement speed so you won't have to worry about sprinting not being available with the SVD, it has no spread (unlike the vintar) so a headshot is guaranteed on the first shot, and also, it just looks and sounds really cool, in my opinion it has the best firing sound out of any gun in the game. All-in-all, the main reason to use the SVD is just because it's an SVD, which makes it automatically cool.
I don't know. I played a lot with storming abakan because it has better stats. But now I'm on first run of this wonderful game and i guess i need at least to try the ak74.
This is the main problem that SoC have, the weapon mechanics are just weak overall with a horrendous accuracy combined with enemy that is bullet sponge. Well Bulldog 6 can be on the list too with RPG-7 there are not many situations that you use it. But with RPG you can shoot down helicopters
Sure and this can be a funny thing to shot down helicopters but since they don't attack you in SoC it's still not worth it to carry the RPG with you.
