- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- The fourth episode of the popular IndianOil Now Hear Us monthly digital series features the supremely talented Carnatic flautist Sruthi Sagar.
Sruthi is accompanied by Vittal Rangan on violin, Praveen Sparsh on mridangam and Sai Subramaniam on morsing.
Sruthi begins his recital in Ragam Jayantasena with a composition entitled "Vinatasuta Vahana" by Tyagaraja. This is followed by the Harikeshanallur Muttiah Bhagavatar composition "Shri Mahabala" in Ragam Saranga Malhar..
The main piece of Sruthi's performance is the beautiful "Gana Naya Desika" composed by Koteeswara Iyer in Ragam Rishabhapriya where all four musicians get an opportunity to exhibit their wonderful skills at their respective instruments.
The concluding piece is in Ragam Yamuna Kalyani featuring a composition by Tanjavur Sankara Iyer entitled "Yamuna Nadi Karai.
As a special bonus our cameras were able to capture the tail end of a lovely rehearsal session by Bharatanatyam dancer Shweta Prachande at the same venue where our musicians were to perform.

Mind blowing. I am in awe..
God bless you all. Brilliant musicians. I am a flautist myself. I've heard Shashank ji and Jayanth ji but Shruti Sagar ji is just amazing. Listening to him for the first time. Knows the dynamics well and the emotion specially. Aha. Thanks Manish for introducing him. Clarity, tuneful. Beautiful gamak and meend. Effortless playing 🙏 Divine. Thank you❤🙏
Please listen to Vidwan K S Gopalakrishan not many recordings are available but yes you will get heartful.
This man is a Divine soul himself!!! Such a beautiful play Sruthi sagar anna!!!
Wonderful rendition especially rishabapriya is a rare ragam rendered by few eminent singers only. It shows the practice of the artist especially thanam and kalpana swarams wonderful. If he is encouraged he will become like flutemali. Accompanying artists also played well. Very accomodative.
Wonderful. Was eagerly waiting! If I’m not mistaken, this is the first FEA concert with a Morsing. The sound is so well balanced, but a mild suggestion is that it would better if the Morsing is a shade softer than the Mridangam. A common saying/advice is that the violinist should play slightly softer than the voice/"main artiste", the Mridangam softer than the violin, and the Morsing softer than the Mridangam. Nowadays since we’re so dependent on the mics, it becomes the job of the sound engineer to balance these volumes. Great work though! Can’t thank you guys enough, as usual. :)
Thank you for your kind words. And yes, you’re right. This is our first time featuring a morsing. Your suggestion about the audio balance is duly noted.
Wonderful music by youngsters that to in rare ragas well done
What a sound!!! Incredible imagination!!!another mali ... Genius
Peaceful! I prostrate before the saints who gave us such music, to the Lord for being their inspiration and artistes like these who help lesser souls like me partake of the devotion that the greats felt when they sang their hearts out!
Pure,perfect,devotional and blissful music
గొప్ప కళాకారులసమ్మేళనం
అద్భుతం
Sans any gimmickry and pyrotechnics, paced and pitched perfectly, the flow of the flute seemed like a case of flute playing Sruthi Sagar... That rendition of Rishabhapriya made me hanker for Charukeshi... I would love to go there, sit on the ground and listen to these kids play delightful music for quite a while :)
Wonderful audio/video presentation for a outdoor concert. Where is this place?

Manasukku idhamana sangeetham
wonderfullllllll , from Argentina !! ❤ ❤ ❤
It's very interesting and heartening to see people from other cultures South Indian Classical music. Only a small percentage of Indians listen to Classical music. Most of them would listen to the lighter version of the music from Bollywood. How did you find interest in this music? Are you a musician?
Sooooooooooooooppppprrrrrrr
Please keep bringing up Hindustani musical performances
That work is especially appealing to me
Well Tanmaya, we’re glad to know that Hindustani classical music appeals to you. But this channel attempts to cater to both Hindustani and Carnatic classical music. However, if you dig deep enough into this channel you will find plenty of Hindustani classical performances by a wide variety of contemporary artistes. Happy hunting.
What a treat!! The Rishabhapriya....just divine! Tks to FEA
Best wishes to the entire team..
Such a sublime performance! I'm particularly interested in learning more about the piece composed in Ragam Yamuna Kalyani, as I could not find an authentic rendition of the same online. Could anyone help me with the links?

Excellent ensemble, impressively unpretentious. Beautiful setting and sound. Unfortunately the fake tanbura is quite a nuisance. Unlike a real tanbura it actually sounds like the neighbours are enjoying a rather persistent splatter movie. What a pity for the wonderful music that is quite ruined.
Agreed regarding tanpura.
