    How could the ancient Egyptians have made something so totally tubular without having access to 80s skater lingo?

    • @timothygreer188
      @timothygreer188 5 місяців тому +11

      It's not skater lingo or even 80s, dude. By surface analysis, tubule +‎ -ar. The sense meaning "cool" or "awesome" is believed to be a figurative extension originating in surfing lingo, from the way that an excellent wave encloses a surfer within tubular walls of water. Skate culture was built by a landlocked society with weak sea legs who desired to emulate the radical behavior of the sea people.
      Although there is some speculation that sandboarding/sand surfing first originated in Ancient Egypt. According to ancient hieroglyphs, pharaohs and their courtiers would use planks of wood or pottery to slide down dunes. According to surf historian Matt Warshaw, "Wealthy bronzed-limbed, tunic-clad youth climbing the ridges of the Great Sand Sea, pyramids in the background, Nile winking the sun; then pause, jab a finger up to Ra, huck over the ledge, couple turns for rhythm, a Sphinx-stance through the bowl, a double-Pharaoh claim at the end, maybe a happy tear or two, and of course, thanks to Qetesh for making it all possible. Heckle the Nubians on the way home."

      @@russell2952I used to believe in the lost ancient high tech crap too! The algorithm keeps you very locked in, I would type in archeologists on the pyramids so I could see both sides, and it was just recommending Graham Hancock, Brien Foerster and Ben X.
      Another problem is that their comment sections (specially Ben X, Bright Insight) are carefully monitored, anyone questioning or showing evidence to the “mainstream” gets shadow banned, all links get removed. And the comment sections are filled with “expert stone masons” who say carving a right angle by hand is impossible, so you get extremely isolated and sheltered. Also, his videos are well produced and he has cool footage of Egypt.
      It was only thanks to one reply under a comment on Ben’s video that said to go watch Sacred Geometry Decoded (the comment was removed a few hours later, so it was lucky I saw it!) And I watched SGD and my mind was blown. I came back to Ben’s channel and tried to tell people that SGD was actually doing the work in granite by hand getting results! And all my comments were removed.
      Then SGD recommended World of Antiquity and I watched his 3hr uncharted X debunking video and I was thoroughly embarrassed and ashamed. But I’m very grateful and at least now I’m an avid fan of real history! 😂
      I think most of their fans are like me, genuinely curious but ignorant. Then a large group of hardcore fans who have invested thousands of dollars into supporting the “alternative research” (that never gets done) who are slower to back away cause that’s a lot of money. (Then there are the real crazies who will not stop believing in Atlantis because it’s a cult/ religion for them to believe that white people build the world. But I think that is a very small minority of their supporters.)

In a similar vein, I kept hearing about the megalithic rocks walls shaped/molded together was impossible for cultures like the Inca to do, then I googled and found written documentation of Spanish explorers literally witnessing the Inca making the walls and described how they did it. I am fascinated with the quality and precision of old stoneware from ancient Eqypt, but only to know exactly how they did it, and expect it to be very logical, and not beyond the skills of their time.

It can take me about two or three hours to drill 600mm with my power tools and core drills, so the 8 hours referenced in this video for something similar is highly respectable. When you actually read real research papers you can find tons of truths, for instance the reason why blocks are so tight you can fit paper in the joints😂, if you have zero knowledge of masonry, and measuring using ancient techniques then incorporate thousands of years of stone cutting techniques, they seem impossible to moderate man who is so out of touch with our history it seems magical, there's no way ppl could do those things. On surface rocks there's a phenomena called leaching, where the rock actually changes over a slow period of time to deform from weathering, and look like they have melted, but rock isn't solid, they are like sponges with micro cavitations in the crystalline structures that can especially under extreme weights actually change shape in ways that seems impossible, around the joints is the first place that moisture goes and breaks rock into sand from acidic rains and water flows takes the flaking away and tightens the rocks together, and doesn't look the same as they did thousands of years ago, this happens all over the world with all types of rocks. There's several papers on how these holes were drilled, and demonstrated, it didn't take as long as you think, with weights and bow string drill a couple hours

    I think you are correct in pointing out that if you are going to posit an entire, unknown civilization you need more evidence than one ambiguous core sample. Especially when said core sample could have been drilled using tools we know for a fact the Egyptians had, and that they described using...and even went to the trouble to depict in several carvings. I'd go with Occam's Razor...the simplest explanation is that the Egyptians did what they said they did, used the tools they said they used, and the interpretation of the result is flawed if it doesn't match exactly a reproduction of modern, experimental archeologists. After all, while I have a lot of respect for the experimental archeologists, it's not like they are doing this for years 10+ hours a day...like the Egyptians were doing. So, the fact that the results MAY not match EXACTLY is militantly unsurprising.

    I am Egyptian, I studied at The Faculty of Fine Arts, my professors who are sculptors and among the most experienced granite carvers in the world, some of them say Ancient Egyptians must've had advanced tools, one of them (one of the most famous Artist/Sculptors in the Middle East) said Ancient Egyptians cut granite using laser.
    The very people who take massive pride in being the descendants of Ancient Egyptians, and the inheritors of that magnificent civilization, the very Artists/Sculptors who claim to be the modern manifestation of Ancient Egypt's solid stone carving tradition; believe in a host of alternative pseudo scientific theories which they relay to their students, to my shock, dismay and horror.

    RULE #1--- Never let a scientist try to explain how perfect holes are cut into stone! They have never in their lives had their hands dirty. Ask those that work in the field to explain how they accomplish the task. Basalt is the primary stone shown in these hole drilling videos. Basalt is everywhere around the world especially where volcanoes are found as that is how it is formed. Basalt is an easy type of stone to work with. As long as the cutting stone is harder than the the basalt or other type of stone, it will drill through without a problem. It just takes hard work! Granite is no different. Just constant hard work! Step up stoneworkers and offer your explanation. Scientists, stay home and learn!

    My Godmother has an ancient (2-8 thousand years old) Native American peace pipe that is made from drilled stone with three holes, one for a wooden pipe stem, one for the bowl and a 1mm hole for a carburetor. Drill markings indicate it was made using sand water and reed. The local native peoples have occupied that area from 12-14 thousand years based on evidence that they were present before the last most recent volcanic eruption which dates back that far. The stone itself cannot be dated and although found in situ, the area was disturbed by settlers in the late 1890s when the native peoples were moved and since then by construction. We have had the pipe seen by local archeologists and informed the leaders of the local tribe. ...Just saying holes in stone without industry and technology, they exist.

    the spiral might very well be there, but it should look rather unclear and rugged if the machine was quite primitive and has a slow feed rate and slow rotation speed. the spiral is almost certainly not about the feed rate per revolution, that would be completely silly, it is as i described, most likely an issue of precession of the cutting implement during the cut, one revolution of the spiral might be a hundred or a thousand revolutions of the drill easily. and as i said this is a common phenomena, i have also pointed this out to the uncharted x people, and they didn't really adjust, to be fair it was a comment and they might have just not seen it, but it is pretty much unthinkable that the spirals correspond to the rotation of the drill in relation to feed rate, precision aside. dunn said some very silly things and he cannot ever have worked with drills in any serious way if he didn't consider a precession as the likely culprit, because it is obviously what is the cause of the markings. it fits every aspect, that they are not evenly spaced, that they are spiraling on some cores and not others, and that there is a lot of imperfection in the markings.
