I experienced this exact very thing when I was 11 years old in 1961. I had befriended a Navajo girl at our “white” school as I saved her from horrific bullying. She repaid me for 3 summers of this at her place where her family is and I would go there with her and experience something that has been indelibly imprinted in my soul. I am 71.
