We have 2 separate systems here I assume similar in other states. The department of Human Services also does either a child protection or vulnerable adult investigation separately from the criminal system. My son with special needs was also abused as was my father in assisted living. Both with witnesses and video. Without that, many cases go nowhere we have been told. I'm also a county case manager for adults with special needs, and have seen many cases not protect our kids and vulnerable adults.
Anyway, the two women who abused my dad were charged criminally and only one did the jury find guilty (the poor one who couldn't afford a private attorney to get her off) but BOTH were found responsible by DHS and can't pass a background check for any job requiring a DHS background check. That's required for any human service job here. They are excluded from providing direct services. Stinks especially for the one who was just taking her nursing boards who got off her criminal charge. But she chose to toss an old man with dementia around his room, pit her arm around his neck in a choke hold to remove clothes, and kneeled on his chest because he couldn't understand her or move fast enough. The terror in his voice and words was the most heartbreaking thing ever. 💔
Thank heaven she can't pass the background check here....but it's not national.

I have a special needs child with Austism. It's not easy being a parent of an autistic child but the love I have for my son is undeniable. It's not easy for his educators either but they put things in place to ensure my son is happy and safe at school.
To hear of another child, autistic or not, being abused in this fashion broke my heart. How anyone could EVER abuse a child and especially someone in a public school system who should be showing compassion and understanding is sobering as it is disappointing.
PLEASE. When you see a child acting out please understand that not every child is just "being bad" but there may be other issues at play and that child isn't just being bad because they are a bad kid, it's because they may be anxious or scared and need a gentle touch and some understanding.

Like, how could you *possibly* not remember what you want to say about a matter that supposedly affected you and/or your loved ones so heavily? Do you really need a teleprompter for this? Can't you just speak from the heart and not give a damn about sounding eloquent? But then I'm a sociopath and I know we tick very differently from you normies. Also, that sentencing seems pretty lenient for what she did. Should be at least a few months mandatory jail time. It's not gonna fix anything, but it might discourage her from doing this again.

Come to find out the school district gave one of the administrators delinquent son a job driving the bus for special needs children. Several children were hurt by his aggressive driving and the driver had one of the children, a little girl he had stand beside him while he drove; it was definitely his world. This was in Oklahoma in about 1987. I went to the school board and they acted like it was nothing because children were nonverbal and they couldn't say anything so there was nothing we could do. I am so happy they now have cameras on these buses to record these people who essentially use their position to abuse these children..

For how I see the court system working today in a different small county and city I live in Judge Simpson is one of my favorite Judges because of how he conducts himself and his courtroom. This poor victim is a child who has disabilities and could not come to the stand to speak and his mother did such a magnificent job that my heart literally broke from her description of the event and how it impacted both her child and her. I cannot imagine getting a phone call from the police saying we need to talk about your child and what she described went through her mind immediately. I guess words just do not cut it for describing this individual. She had no remorse whatsoever the entire time. The sentence was just enough although my heart says longer jail time. If more courts would follow in the footsteps of Judge Simpson then we would be on a roll with getting justice again. Too many times prosecutors drop minor to significant charges. The time for change is now not later. May Buddha have mercy.

I could tell the judge is a joke and look what I found. Your righteous judge is terrible. I wonder what else he's done?
(On November 12, 2014, the Michigan Judicial Tenure Commission (JTC) filed a formal complaint against Judge Cedric Simpson for interfering in a police investigation involving his intern, Crystal Marie Vargas. After a judicial misconduct hearing, the JTC recommended that Simpson be removed from the bench. or that others would be foolish enough to post an opinion without first knowing all there was to know? Would a community who likes to watch court proceedings and read court transcripts think three sentences someone pasted from google encompassed “his true backstory,” or would they have instead watched court proceedings and read court transcripts to form their own educated opinion long before someone assumed they hadn’t? 🤔

So for eg. the child may be non verbal, but able to read, write and use sign language to communicate, special school may not be an option because often the child needs to be diagnosed with an intellectual disability to be admitted and lastly, society is still quite bigoted towards ppl with disability.
