- Forchheim is a town in the district of Upper Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. The town is the seat of the district office Forchheim and with over 32,000 inhabitants by far the most populous municipality of the district. The town is located on the Nuremberg-Bamberg railway, on the Main-Danube Canal and on the Frankenschnellweg between Bamberg (23 km north) and Nuremberg (about 30 km south). Forchheim has been a member of the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg since April 2005.
