Rolled into the canyon and still drove away

- This is the third rolled over @toyotausa that I've recovered in the last year that has fired right up and drove away. I know I rag on them quite a bit, but there's no denying the 90's and 2000's Toyota reliability

Traction control and 4 wheel drive has enabled us to launch cars off the road at speeds unheard of decades ago.👍
And abs
@@nipperdawg1865 it's the future!!
Not if it is a Rav4, worst POC ever, with less than 1" of snow on the ground, I can't get out of the drive due to traction control. It cuts power if a wheel spins. My front wheel drive Corolla has plowed up the hill with close to a foot of snow.
@@pjford1118 Well, first off, it depends on several things. One, does the Rav 4 have all the nanny stuff like traction control, if so, it's likely a post 2010 model, if the Corolla does not, likely older and therefore was built before traction control etc. Likely both have ABS as it's been around in at least some vehicles since the early 90's but maybe not on all four wheels. Since you don't say how old either car is, and likely may not know you CAN turn off traction control, at least somewhat, if not entirely on most vehicles that have them. So this statement is not exactly fair.
@johnhpalmer6098 That's literally his second sentence saying, "traction control!"
with all the videos showing people doing bad things to other people, your videos show you helping people and doing good things for people. Thank You
That'll buff right out 😂👍
I learn more watching Casey's videos than anyone elses. And I love his sense of humor!
Yes, went a bought a winch and gear in case I need to pull my RTV out of a stuck situation on the farm. It's an unproductive farm and no tractor.
❤
This channel has sold me on those Toyotas.
Is this an extended Toyota commercial. Love how easy you make this.
I worked for Washington State DOT for 41 years, the last 23 I worked incident response and taught Traffic Incident Management. I am so excited to see you putting up advance warning at your scenes. Signs and cones are often not used by tow companies to protect their scenes and are probably part of the reason we lose a tow driver a week in this country. Thank you for showing advance warning in your vid’s and keep up the great work.
Well Ethan, ar least you never said you were good at this. You've already redeemed yourself, and at least it wasn't an epic moment missed.
Many of us have failed at pressing that button.
Makes me feel good about my 4Runner.
I have been waiting for this video to post. I saw you guys on the way back from this tow. I didn’t recognize the truck until just after I passed you guys.
Hello Casey a man of many talents showing what you can do learning off GRUMPY a man of many years
“Freakin’ Toyotas”” .. lol .. 🤣 .. reality UA-cam rocks w/ you guys 👏👏👏
Cable TY did disservice to the population calling some of their content "reality TV!" It really wasn't much different than many other productions other than they just sucked worse!
My youngest daughter asked me what "Freakin" means.
Told her to ask her mother. Her mother told her to ask her teachers.
Does it mean "F@#£%^&". Please help me out.
@@anthonybernstein9698 I always thought it meant freakishly great in the context of the Toyota 4wd vehicles. As in indestructible. Also seen in the series of advertisements that Toyota ran along the theme of "Bugger". (Australia and New Zealand)
There's Ethan's new rock crawler project
I know of a 93 Toyota that was rolled and couldn't have driven home. My kid bought it for the engine/tranny. We went to start it, and he had his first experience with the dreaded plastic timing chain guide that breaks loose and drops in the cover and will make them jump time. Anyone with a 22RE can attest to this.
I know of 2 1962 Impalas that drove home with the tops mashed down to the top of the seats. Dad was so so proud of my brothers in 1971...
I'd love to know how the Impalas got their tops smashed down, sounds like a couple of good stories there. I didn't know that about the 22RE but I have seen several Nissan 3.5V6 engines with the main timing chain guide separated and sitting on the bottom of the timing chain doing nothing, those would still run even with the cam tensioner guides worn through with the cam chains metal on metal against the cam tensioner pistons and emitted a unique whine with the engine RPM.
@@Vile-Flesh To be honest most of the time 22RE timing chain guides that break let the chain eventually rub a hole in the timing cover allowing coolant in the oil giving the symptoms of a blown head gasket. I finally figured out to take the oil cap off and blow in the radiator and could hear the air pass through. We always check the timing chain guide first. We have done at least 5 of them over the years. Bought 2 of them with head gaskets already changed and fixed the timing cover hole.
On the Impala's saga...One brother was quite drunk missed a corner and landed in a field on it's wheels. The other brother went out to a farm to get the 2 gallons of milk and slid off the corner. Both happened on gravel roads where the gravel always piled up on the outside of the corners making "drifting" fun before it got popular. I often wonder where the 327's ever went that were in them...
Very interesting. I liked reading about the two Impalas just now. I learned the hard way how to slide around corners in my LTD and Tornio when I was younger and stupider and I count myself very fortunate, plenty of running off the road but no wrecks. Someone was definitely looking out for me. Also, 327 is a damn good engine.@@tt600pch
I have a 4Runner and it is good to see how well built they are. A truck on a truck frame is good. Amazing how that one crashed and rolled and still ran. That quality is incredible. Great video Casey, even in spite of Ethan's inability to run the camera.
I love your running chatter. You’re the “John Madden” of towing commentary!! Great job Casey
Genius technique using the two winches together.
I love the old wrecker!!!
You and Ethan are one of a kind !😊 Thanks for sharing! 😊
It runs! Sounds like it’s ready for a solid axle swap
That crawling around in snow isn't very fun I'm sure, but you really look like enjoy what you do... Good to see that FORD back in action.
In the Land Down Under 🦘🇦🇺 Toyota use the catch phrase “ Toyota Tough “ 🍺🍺
Thank you for yet another reason to own a toyota!!
I totally agree!
Thankfully all are ok
Rest in peace, little Toyota, Rest in peace 😢
I do wonder if it is really going to get parted or picked up as a project.
The Rolloyota running gear would make for a great donor vehicle
Right? That's what I was saying. Why didn't she just get a new front clip, hood, fenders and a windshield for it and start driving it again? 🙄 😒
Yeah, from what I can see in the video it looks well within reason to repair it and keep it, even better since no airbags deployed so no dashboard or interior damage. The older 4Runners are bulletproof SUVs and last a LONG time with minimal maintenance. I would try to keep and repair it unless there is something seriously wrong that we cannot see aside from "insurance economics" or she was bored of it and wanted to downgrade to something shiny and newer. U.U @@wesman7837
Love that ol' bricknose wrecker ❤
A friend had a farm on the edge of the snow fields in Australia. Literally 100mtrs from has front gate the road started down a long series of sweeping curves for several miles. Due to the shape of the hill no sun fell on the road during winter and black ice was a regular item to make driving far from fun. There were many warning signs that were often ignored. He lost track of the number of vehicles that crashed on the first few corners and as this was pre mobile phones, people regularly came knocking on his door for help.
It’s a shame to see it at the junkyard.
Stay safe and we'll see you next time.
Like that wrecker.
Awesome job getting this Toyota out of the woods. Of course that rig still drove!!!
I loved my 4Runner. The day I sold by '94 4Runner was a sad day. The folks that bought it sent me post cards and pictures of the 4Runner as they traveled with it for years. That 4Runner lasted for years.
Very nice recovery in beautiful snowy scenery, thank you for taking us along. I'm not surprised the 4Runner runs and drives and shame it is getting totaled. I am surprised neither airbag was deployed, must have a airbag fault or SRS fuse is pulled. I hate the newer stuff with the curtain airbags and seat airbags and airbags for the airbags. U.U That older 4Runner may be worth repairing at first glance, wonderful SUVs.
And another job well done by Casey and his comedy crew! Good job guys!
Woop, it's the F-350 back in action!
The little truck that can & does.
I miss my 97 4runner, I still have it, I just miss it.
I use to have a 1 ton 4x4 wrecker did a lot of crazy stuff with that little truck... I live in MO but I have family in Oregon.. good job love the channel
I have a 2011 Toyota Venza and drive this winter with not much problems. Don't go anywhere much due to being disabled. Love watching your videos. Just found them last night.
Over here in England i pulled a Mustang out of a tree last year - raining and the guy came off a roundabout and floored it , fishtailed and hit the curb going airborne and over a 5ft wide drainage ditch before landing with the rear wheels 3 feet off the ground and the car sitting in the tree . Dragged it out and it fired straight up , even the airbags hadn't fired ! .
Weirdest part was the guy - as he said " i'm glad the roof was down or it wouild have gotten ripped " ? .
OK - but why have the roof down in the rain ?.
Alcohol may have been a factor???
@@EnufIsTooMuchNo , he'd taken his daughter out for a drive , police were on scene and he wasn't drunk .
Might have been rain in his eyes though lol .
i am surprised the owner is scrapping it. around here people part those out for a lot of money. only reason i know is because my sister has one and my BIL has bought some used parts and they were not cheap.
Probably not the owner's choice, but the insurance company's decision...
Thought Ethan would of bought that one, new off road toy !
Well done, Casey!
Oh what a feeling , Toyota ! 👍
Years ago I was driving home from work on an icy highway. I came to a tight curve that had 6 4 wheel drive vehicles in the ditch around the curve. So glad I learned to drive in winter. It's paid off over the years.
For all those asking why is it being scrapped?
Because the insurance says so would be my guess! Damaged beyond economic repair or damaged beyond safe repair, probably the latter as it looks like the A pillar is bent!
Hope Ethan is listening to you explain what you are doing, you would make a good teacher Thanks for the video
I think Ethan knows more than what he portrays. Plus, following Casey's directions and probably also trys to ask questions us viewers might ask
In South Carolina, a Scrap Yard is where metal goes to be recycled. A Junk Yard is where old vehicles go to have their parts harvested for reuse.
When Casey said Scrap Yard I thought it was odd.
Toyota makes a tough vehicle. I threw a rod through the block on my 4runner, v6. Drove it 1100 miles home. 3gallons of oil and smoked like a chuchu train
"threw a rod through the block ... [d]rove it 1100 miles home"
Sure ya did, on the Big Rock Candy Mountain.
Nice recovery!! Simple and easy. Hard to believe it still runs and drives.
Nice recovery. Snow pretty there.
This could be a toyota- sponsored video - "still runs and drives!". Thanks all. Ethan and new camera - you'll get better, I'm sure
Born in Japan, died on FS 41 😞
Almost called you last night while messing around in the snow!
That would make the perfect offroad beater.. Cut everything off and build a cage...
Toyotas are awesome..
❤ Ethan, happens to everyone
Was just at that wrecking yard 5 days ago to help a buddy pick up a bumper and 2 fenders for his car, was a 5 and a half hour drive away from where we live on the coast
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Glad you got the old truck out moving around 😁
Wonder what the junkyard's response would have been if you just drove it into the yard and asked where you want this?😂
That 4runner looks alot like nates next build
I can’t believe it’s going to the scrap yard I understand it is probably totaled but I guarantee some kid would buy it
Love seeing the lil red wrecker that could... She may be older, she may be slower, but she still gets the job done everytime she gets to work/play... Drive one almost identical years ago... Would love to have one just like it as my own...
Great video thank you!
Good ol trusty wrecker getting it done. 👏👏👏💪💪💪
Toyota always been good for me in the Outback mate, great video again , thanks
Great job Casey! Ethan, you had one job... LOL Casey, was that the junk yard by Smith Rock?
having more rope off the drum reduces the load on the winch ( the winch rating is with 1 layer of rope on the drum ) and for each layer the less it will pull .also double lining will also reduce the load and on the winch but the way you did it you are relying on the second winch brake not slipping
Even when it rolled it down the hill it still runs great. Time for people to learn to slow down in snowy conditions! Good job Casey and Ethan.
Glad the driver was okay, but such a shame, that looks like it was such a clean 4Runner. I own a fifth gen, but third gen is the best gen. I hope this one ends up living on as somebody's wheeling rig project.
bacon and eggs with a bagel, hash browns and fried green tomatoes, fresh perked coffee and a Casey video, life is good...
go trump!
Good to see ol orange back on a job. 😊😊😊
Good to see the tow again thought you might have sold it great machine Thanks for the video
"She was driving too fast, but you can't tell her." Without a doubt, that had to be the driver's dad!
keep up the great work you do!!!
I had a 96 Tacoma with well over 200 thousand miles, and the engine would have run forever. Of course the frame and rear bumper rusted to nothing, but the engine was still great....
Hi Casey I love like the way you keep coming up with different rigs. And this small one looks great for say someone who is just starting of in the game. Do you just buy these rigs in case you may need them in the future?. I think I would like one for off road driving in Australia. 😂😂 Jon🇦🇺
Casey’s fleet is ever evolving! He’s had this wrecker for a while!
Aww man... there just aren't many purple 4Runners around anymore
A takeoff on the old Timex commercial: It takes a licking, and keeps on ticking.
That's Toyota. If you took that 4 Runner into Pakistani Truck, they'd have it
roadworthy within a week.
Maybe cleet should pioneer a chain drive blower!
Great video
“Freakin’ Toyotas””, nuff said.
omgosh those toyotas, legendary, it totally would have if it wasnt high centered, amazing cars for sure!!
Awesome video
That’s the second 4Runner I witnessed you recovered in similar situations
Technique was awesome, like how your brain works
Learn something every time. Thanks.
Love my 4 Runner, 2023 model. I had a 2017 that I gifted to our son-in-law. His dad now has the 1998 he and our daughter had that we bought her when she graduated high school in 2007. Our son drives a 1987 that my husband’s sister bought new and was his daily driver for a number of years. We are definitely a Toyota family. Our son and his wife have my 2003 Sienna van I bought new and they decided to keep it when I gave it to them to sell. As long as they run, why not?
It's hilarious that the Toyota still runs!! Can't beat a Toyota!!!
Just was thinking about Bruce Cook. The wheel chair guy. His “I hate Casey video got 75 thousand views. Yet he only has 24 thousand subscribers. Yes I realize that’s 5 times more than before Casey but if everyone who watched would subscribe his overall success would be better.
Please consider whatever UA-camr who is making the content you are watching no matter what genre it is, hit their subscribe button and show them support. As Matt over at Diesel Creek says, It doesn’t cost you a thing.
Toyota # 3 that has gone off of the road and flipped over and started up!
More than that
Pretty sure I heard Ethan mumble "I hate Casey LaDelle".
hahaha
All season, radials and townies.
Dang what a shame, that was beautiful 4runner,I had one just like it years ago,I have a silver 97 now I love it,a lot of good parts left on that one at least that will keep many others going for years.
I miss my 99 4runner... I got tired of welding the frame together. Called the scrapyard, rollback came over, drove it onto the flatbed and pulled the battery, signed the papers. I miss that truck. The trustiest, rustiest POS I ever drove.
I had an '80 Toyota 4WD pickup, rolled it over, and drove it home, where the insurance company totaled it.
That truck might be a good basis for a dedicated off road trail rig.
Against my better judgement,, I have to commend you on your professional abilities as a recovery operator Casey. But I'm pretty sure that you already know this about yourself,, hence my hesitation in starting so..
I'm just at an estate sale in Sweet Home....Saturday 3.23.24, there were about 2 dozen Ted clevis's on the table $50 to $100 a piece. 4, 6 and 8 inch. When Casey hooks up, pulling rig, think of that small part of his inventory cost! Hwy 20 just before City Hall going west.
Knew a guy who ran 2 shorter crank straps and a 10 foot chain to run front to back of flat bed loaded with bee hives . Said the chain and short straps was easier tor oll up to store than a 50 foot crank strap❤
