This is actually the ONLY orchestra to have a full fledged recording of the 1st movement of Ysaÿe’s concerto in E Minor. It’s been said that he looked down on his Violin Concertos, and allegedly tried destroying them

its so funny watching the concertmaster blatantly lost at 12:11 due to the orchestra not being together

    Much like Mendelssohn

Ysaÿe came after Mendelssohn, so his violin concerto (allegedly destroyed) was built upon by Mendelssohn. Both were fantastic composers during the romantic era

Ysaye’s orchestration and melody is definitely much more intriguing and delicate than Mendelssohn… well not that powerful compare to Mendelssohn though
