is it possible to spend the night in the parking lot with a motorhome next to the lake? or illegal?

I’m not 100% sure but, I think it should be possible. Those who have booked overnight stay at the olpererhütte would leave their car/ vehicle at the parking lot. In that case, you need to take a 2 day pass for the toll road. Please check their official website to make sure if you can camp next to the lake overnight.

might be possible. It is normally open from the 3rd week of May. But please check the Schlegeis Stausee toll road official website for the exact opening date for next summer. Also please note that most of the hiking path would be still covered in snow during mid May.
