Colby sold himself out for a character. Disrespected Matt Hughes about his accident, spoke on Masvidal's family, dissed Leon's deceased father, called Brazil a dump, and so much more BS, all for money. He gained funds but lost almost everything of true value, including his friends and teammates. Sure, the schtick helped his career and gained him a lot of shallow fans, but with one loss, look how they all turned on him and booed him out of the arena. Thats what he gets for throwing respect and honor out for money and attention.

It's not debatable. He did NOT deserve the title shot and it showed in the fight. He lost to Usman twice and beat two washed-up fighters. That's 2-2 in his last 4. Then he was inactive for 2 years. How does he get a title shot after that? With Dana White privilege and his big mouth, that's how. Now he has to pay for writing a check that he couldn't cash.

Colby looked so slow and weak tonight. The only reason why he ended on top at the end of round 5 was because Leon got too emotional and was set on out-grappling Colby instead of getting back to his feet. Colby's finished.

I think if leon would've thrown more punches he could've finished colby. He made colby back down almost the whole fight and had multiple opportunities to put it on him when colby was against the fence but didn't really. He's a phenomenal fighter but i think with a higher output he'd have more finishes. He reminds me a lot of adesanya with his style. The way he moves, reacts, switches stance and feints is a beauty to watch if you're a striker or someone who loves seeing a striker of his caliber. But again he coasts too much for me he needs that killer instinct, somebody that can bring it out. That's his only weakness so to say in my opinion but who am I 😂😂

Tyron was 38 and on a 2 fight losing streak, and would go on to lose 3 more if you include the boxing matches against Paul, a youtuber with no experience. Robbie was 37 at the very end of his rope, 1-3 in his last 4 leading up to the Colby fight. He would go on to lose more before retiring. It was literally Kim's last fight of a 20-plus year career if you count his yu-do days, or 13 years just MMA. Maia was 41 and had been fighting for nearly 20 years. Colby is a good fighter, but he beat all the guys I listed when they were slowing down signifantly or outright done. Truth hurts doesn't it? Leon made the Colby fans cry again, and likely finished his career at the top for good. He's going back to fighting old guys like Wonderboy now, because he knows Shavkat will run him over.

I think what Leon did to Colby was worse than if he would have KO'd him. Colby's entire career is derailed now, he got absolutely dominated and had the crowd turn on him after the fight. His reputation is destroyed. No one will want to pay to see him again. Getting Ko'd, people will just say he got caught and that's what happens. but getting dominated? that ruins all of his future plans.
It's not what Leon did to Colby, it is what Colby did. Leon sucked, he had amazing accuracy, power and precision, he had great ringmanship and great skill and fought against a timid Colby, yet he could not capitalize on anything, he didn't follow up on anything, it was the most boring fight I ever seen. Colby absolutely sucked, he didn't lose the fans because of Leon, he lost his fans because of himself, he just stood there taking leg kicks and did absolutely nothing. He talked all the talk that he was gonna step on the pedal and run him over, but when it came to the fight, he did nothing. Most boring fight ever.

I grew up loving UFC from the beginning but this is a sad day. I think Colby Covington as good of fighter he is bad for the UFC. I understanding selling the fight and maintaining that edge but what he said about Leon Edwards dad was completely out of line. MMA was about celebrating different fighting styles and cultures. I remember I would be happy just witnessing the awesome level of competition before and that was enough. I hope it goes back to that cause whatever this is, its not it. First time I purposely did not watch the fight smh

I said this for years when people were telling me how dominant this guy was- he ducks all real competition and handpicks easy matchups. Its easy to dominate against washed strikers with no wrestling ( woodley was coming off like 45 losses in a row). There is a reason the UFC literally couldnt get a hold of him for close to a year when they were trying to set up khazmat. This guy is a coward, doesnt even write his own lines, and is the most overrated fighter in the history of the sport.
Exactly. People who really know what they’re looking at knew that narrative was BS. Colby’s timid approach in the fight with Leon told me what I knew for years- this guy was not going to look dominant against other fighters in their primes. It was already proved when he ran into the wall that was Usman. It’s why he was afraid to unify his interim title with Tyron Woodley before the verdict was out that Tyron was washed (and lost the only matchup where it was at least possible to win the championship) . It’s why he avoided fighting guys like Usman and Leon (who both called him out prior to winning the belt) when they were contenders and ducked the rest of the actual contenders in the division. It’s why he only fights washed veterans and sits and waits for title shots. He’s absolutely a fraud.
Colby's last 3 wins are against guys who are currently retired. Having him in a title eliminator or letting him hold the division up any further after a performance like that at 35 (36 by his next fight) is laughable

Colby’s career exactly mirrors chaels unironically and I wouldn’t be surprised if he only fights 2 more times and calls it a day. Khamzat Dustin Sean and Belal are the only fights that make sense for him stylistically speaking and even tension wise however we all know he probably won’t fight any of them(maybe Belal if he’s denied a title shot)

We all knew colby didn't deserve this, he does NOT have a successful track record against top competition in the past 4 to 5 years, it's just the reality.. plus a two year LOA is not easy to over come for a fighter, it just was what it was

I was pulling for Colby but that was an awful performance. I don’t know what he was thinking. Leon is a way better kickboxer with a much longer reach. I can’t believe Colby and his team thought he was going to win by just kickboxing. Colby was on top at the end. He should have been trying to do that from the first round.

I’m just not sure that’s gonna happen. He talks so much trash and I 100% understand him doing it to build fights, but when you put on a performance like this and lose yet another title shot fight, it’s just hard for that gimmick to work anymore.
I appreciate what he has done to create this character you either love or hate and how he built up anticipation for fights, but I think he should retire and thank the fans.

Must be bitter for Colby. Leon was also told he needed to get more interesting to stay in the UFC. But he stayed true to himself and created a dominant win streak rather than a click-bait character and now he's the champ and Colby never will be.
