I prefer Kenya to Nigeria because my interactions with Nigerians have not always been good. Kenyans seem to be honest and have no hidden agendas in their friendships.
More Kenyans stay in Kenya to develop their country, yes Nigerians attain success in America but that success is not translated back to advancing Nigeria. For example there are fewer Japanese in America because most of them don’t have the need to leave their country so having more Nigerians in America is a weak positive, same as having very successful Indians in America but really Indians should be in India developing their country!
Very good analysis Eunice. However, despite Nigerians prowess as the giant of Africa and in Diaspora, at some point they let everybody else write their story especially Western media. Kenyans learnt that lesson early and fought back. Rwanda did the same, from a genocide state-label to one of Prosperity. Africa and African countries must step out to write their own narratives. Everybody else is doing it.
her content is losing meaning nowadays if she's NOT talking and comparing Kenya, she's NOT making any content. Kenya we know how to protect One another. No outsider can bring division in Our Country 🇰🇪❤️❣️
There is a big difference between fast paced and chaos. Nigerian cities are chaotic not fast paced. Nigeria needs to get organized and beef up security to attract tourist. Market your country positively and also fix your infrastructure like roads, hospitals and electricity.
African Americans are probably looking for a different experience than just hustle and bustle. You have amazing culture, market it brilliantly. We dont have much in that regard but we work hard with what we have.
Bring up more reasons as to why Americans should visit Nigeria, sell your country to the west, Africa is beautiful, and everyone needs to experience it.
The world loves African bantu lineage group of people than others because naturally by creation their vibes is too calm not laud and not wanting to conquer when they occupy any place like Nigerians normally want to do that is why
Its all good. Kenyans love Nigerians. The honest truth is we've been looking up to and admiring Nigeria for a long time. The music, the film etc. Thing is im not the type of Kenyan to argue just for the sake of arguing so i agree with most of the things you said that Nigeria is ahead of Kenya like the Nigerian educated population abroad. The thing is Kenya has started making strides and Nigeria somehow has started falling off. Nigeria is oil rich, has the music and film industry on lock, has the population, culture and food scene. Kenya on the other hand empasizes tourism and are constantly advertising their tourism industry. The wildlife, the beaches, the culture, etc. Kenyans are very patriotic and take a lot of pride in their country and know a lot of tourists come to their country and so they are welcoming in nature because they want people to love their country. Even Kenyans abroad advertise their country. Over the years Nigeria has been in the media for a lot of negative things and the media highly dictates peoples perception. Kenya has also been in the diaspora news for negative stuff but just not as rampant as Nigeria. All that rampant negativity is what has shaped peoples perception of Nigeria. The whites probably would rather not go to Nigeria because thats where the black Americans came from and we know they have their differences abroad. Kenya doesn't have the things Nigeria have and vice versa. I just think most of the things Kenya has are more appealing to the westerners. Nigeria should do more in advertising themselves in a positive light to the world and change this negative narrative the the world has of Nigeria. Also Nigerians have to accept that they are not doing too good and be able to learn from other African countries. I feel like thats a problem most Nigerians have. Accepting that someone else might be better than them. Kenyans know the countries they feel are better than them and have accepted. Nigerians on the other hand i feel they believe nobody in Africa should be better than them. I just don't see a lot of Nigerian content creators advertising their country and maybe they are content over the fact that its known that Nigeria is the giant of Africa so they see no need to add to that. Kenya on the other hand even with its rising glory is constantly putting out content on Kenya and why people should visit. Not saying im right but thats just my 2 cents. As a Kenyan i want Nigeria to do good too because Nigeria has been a big influence to Kenya
We also have 2 seasons in Kenya 🇰🇪 just like Nigeria 🇳🇬 the rainy 🌧 season and the dry season as compared to Europe and North America there they have 4 seasons which include summer, autumn, winter and spring.
One thing Lagos city lacks, is a proper designated CBD area. An urban planner would understand my point clearer. The skyline of Lagos is not that what one would expect in a city of over 20M people. On the other hand, Nairobi skyline looks more beautiful
Hey sister...you would have marketed Nigeria without downgrading kenya! Saying Kenya isn't offering traditional feel as Nigeria...are we competing? 'Think about that next time before you travel' is the meanest statement you would make! We've never tried in any way negatively potrayed Nigeria in trying to market Kenya. By the way...how many counties have you travelled to in Kenya? Nairobi is melting cultures for your sake, for foreigners to feel at ease but i bet you haven't visited Samburu, Narok, Kajiado, Kakamega, Muranga, Usain Gishu, etc so you know nothing cultural in kenya by analyzing Westlands of Nairobi. This is so absurd, in my opinion its entitlement.
I think you made a fair comparison Eunice but I would say you made the argument of why tourists or foreigners would want to visit Kenya over Nigeria. Love to both countries though 🇳🇬🇰🇪! 💪🏿💪🏿
It's a common misconception that most slaves came from West Africa. While West Africa was heavily involved in the Atlantic slave trade, the Arab slave trade from East Africa was equally significant. Over centuries, an estimated 8 million Africans were taken from East Africa. The focus on West Africa is largely due to the Atlantic trade's impact on the Americas, which has been more widely studied and publicized just 5 million and east africa 8 millionjust do the math acknowledging the extensive East African slave trade is crucial for understanding the full scope of this tragic history.
East African slavery is never mentioned thats the reason most of the people tend to associate with west africa. is also true to extent what you point out slavery took place all over Africa with exception of ethiopia and Liberia. slaves from east africa is estimated to be almost 20 million The Slaves were brought to the coast and from there to the spice island of Zanzibar and many were sold further to the Arab countries, Persia, and India, Mauritania and Reunion some found their way to brazil, by the mid-sixteenth century the Portuguese were importing enslaved Africans in substantial numbers to work in new, permanent sugar colonies. here in kenya. you can see the evidence of the portuguese presence (the fortjesus) sadly majority of the salves died on the way due to diseases and extreme weather conditions. Majority of men were custrated to prevent producing. The ones that survived the act are the reason of black presence in areas they were taken
Im Kenyan. I love my people and my country. But we are really whitewashed. I love how Nigerians have held on to their culture. Its a very precious thing. Hold it tight
What of the Maasais, Turkanas, Rendiles, Boranas, Samburus and many others in Kenya, they are still in the same state they were in for thousands of years.!! It is only in the Urban areas where we have become more cosmopolitan. That as help building more cohesion in the country.
