Donna Summer was a very religious person... Yes, she was. For her, that meant she was to love everyone and judge no one. It meant that no one is better than anyone else, but we are all the same in the eyes of God. It meant to be compassionate and kind and to help others and to share your talents. She was very private, but she was also very open when she felt it was necessary or if she thought sharing something very private would help whomever she was talking to. She was more interested in hearing about how you were doing rather than talk about herself. She was an amazing mother and her children were raised with so much love, but they also learned the value of work (they had to earn money for Christmas by doing chores when they were little; when they were older they sometimes went on tour with her and worked). When she met friends or even fans, she directed her focus to that person alone, and made them feel like they were the only person in the room for those moments- her husband is the same way. Donna and her sisters are/were hilariously funny. Donna liked doing different voices and impressions, and making silly faces; but she did not appreciate dirty jokes or jokes that were negative about another person. The thing that hurts the most about her loss is that I will never get to hear her voice LIVE again. She sang a song to me in the early 1990's with no one else in the room... If I close my eyes and listen carefully, I can still hear her singing it. (the song was Dreams by Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks). I'm sad for those who never got to hear her sing live and in person- recordings don't even come close to capturing the depth of her voice or how powerful her voice was. I learned a lot from her over the years, and treasure the gifts and cards-- mostly I learned that it is much better to be kind and compassionate, and that you should never gossip negative things about others; and that no matter what religion, national origin, color of skin, sexual identity, God loves you unconditionally.
@Quincy Breed I will agree with you about people taking responsibility. However, Donna Summer's career spans some forty years. I think its possible for a person to evolve legitimately.
She had a beautiful soul and a beautiful heart. She was a loving person, she didn't judge others, she loved everyone, but if you could make her laugh or if you could sing then she appreciated you even more. Yes, she was religious, which meant to her that all of us are the same-- all of us fall short of perfection, but we are commanded to love one another and let God do the judging. She had a way of making you feel like you were the most important person at that moment, she was very loving and compassionate, and had great empathy for others. She cared so much, was so moved by people's pain that she could sometimes feel that pain. And, she had a gay, Jewish attorney for decades from the 70's and throughout the rest of her career.
Apparently Pete said in another interview when they recorded with Donna she did it literally in one take ! Of course their music was very engineered and produced but I can imagine she did that
@@rgrndu Yes, and in Spain as well. I was aware of those details, thanks. The host did not specify location; therefore viewers were led to believe the host meant worldwide. The host calling it her first hit was like a kind of racism, acting like The Netherlands, Belgium and Spain do not exist. All the host needed to do was add something like “UK / US” or “English speaking countries.” If the host meant well but just did not do enough research, that seems hardly excusable regarding a memorial feature for a famous talent.
But imagine everyone like Pete Waterman commonly mentioned the full name of William Shakespeare for the foreseeable future if that's gonna happen next year?
Jeez this guy claims he came up with the ABBA sound, now donna summer...can he actually write a note of music? Doesnt look musical..Probably just a hacker.
What did she say exactly? Is there an article or television interview that can be accessed? All of this going back and forth...she made the comments...she didn't make the comments. I have seen an interview where she absolutely denies making any judgemental comments about the gay community.
@@curtismichael4703 it’s pretty much verified Atlantic city concert in 1983 she made jokes about aids and gay people. This is verified by reporters who attended concert. She was clumsily trying to make light hearted jokes and teasing but she crossed line ie god made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. And also she said aids was gods punishment. She had converted to being born again and felt compelled to preach. She should have kept her mouth fucking shut her sad comments All verified by village voice and other papers it’s true. @@opticscolossalandepicvideo4879 The reporters never wrote about it in their columns? Except the Villiage Voice which I will try to find. It seems that if she actually made such comments and all these people were present (especially reporters) it shouldn't be so difficult to find it.
@@curtismichael4703 she said it. She deeply regretted it. People didn’t understand the hiv back then. Donna was religious and preached it was gods will ie aids and instantly regretted it Her gay fans were hurt and troubled. Donna was immediately regretful
@@opticscolossalandepicvideo4879 I just read the articles and interview. I have to tell you that I don't believe she made those statements. She said that she made reference to aids being like herpes. This was at the beginning of the epidemic before they really got a handle on things. Those other statements she says that she didn't say them and I believe her. She was surrounded by gay men in her life, especially professionally. I don't see that being the case if in fact for someone who would make such comments. I don't even see where in her concert a transition would occur where statements like that might be said.
Another Place and Time one of of SAW’s greatest albums!!!!
I listen to it everyday ❤
She was one of the greats!💖💖
I Love her music and missing her. Greetings from Berlin Germany
that woman never aged

@Quincy Breed I think his comment was to give us a glimpse of what she was like in her personal life.
@Quincy Breed Unless, she was actually really virtuous and it was her musical persona that was a facade.
@Quincy Breed I will agree with you about people taking responsibility. However, Donna Summer's career spans some forty years. I think its possible for a person to evolve legitimately.

It was ten years ago this year where Donna Summer sadly died. She was one of the American legends working with Stock/Aitken/Waterman during 1989
And don't forget, Donna Summer would've been 75 this year as she was dead at 64 back in 2012
IDK....DONNA was very special and then she died. My heart is still broken.
Pete has a million stories. Love the SAW biography.
One of the best SAW albums.
In m opinion, disco has evolved and is still present. It just has been renamed with various titles and/or subgenres of dance itself.
We made lots of money together.love it.
Disco = Dance Induced Soul Conscious Orgasm. I feel sorry for the kids of today who have to endure soulless EDM, I really do.
😂

Pete Waterman never touched the keyboard - Michael Stock and Matt Aitken makes the success possible. Pete is just a manager.
And Pete Mixmaster Hammond, he worked throughout the night mixing the tracks and made them hits.
I often wondered if any of SAW touched a keyboard - though they did it all on a computer
@@booth2710 Kind of, they studied and used sequencers to great effect.
Disco is a genre. sorry but it is.. it evolved into other areas.. but still is indeed a genre
Did it have to be so rushed? There was a lot to hear and I feel we only got a fraction of it, just give him a bit longer.
Disco is a sub genre off soul music
And funky, and pop, but only disco'70.
Disco '80 is parody of electro pop/synth pop. :)
A good interesting feature. Donna Summer's first hit was not "Love To Love You Baby"; it was "The Hostage." Rest In Peace to her.
Her first U.S. & worldwide hit was Love To Love You Baby. The Hostage was a regional hit in Europe (Netherlands, Belgium).

Pete Waterman is a wimp! He is lucky not to have his face redesigned during one of the X-factor auditions by a contestant!
It’s cool people forgave Donna for her comments about the gay people She said some horrible things and she apologized She should have known better

Hmmm...She always seemed to look like a Trans woman to me.
Don,t be so disrespectful
Some women do kinda, and that's because they are very made up, like Trans, and CDs have to in order to look the part
You sure you weren’t looking in the mirror?
