I am learning this form right now. I already accomplished the steps of muy fa kuen (and am steadily bringing them to perfection, Sifu isnt tooo confident).
The gung gee is really long.
I am so happy to do Hung Gar Kung Fu.
It is really great to belong to the family.

Nice work man! I have lived in HK for over 7 years now to study hung kuen (off and on). This is better than most Chinese Sifus that I have seen here! One small detail that you are doing is breathing in your nose and out your mouth. Awesome bro.

Pretty Good. Took me Forever to Learn This Form Back In the Day. Hung-Gars first Traditional form. And the Most Hardest . But once you Learn Gung Gee Or Taming the Tiger . The Rest of the Forms Like Fu - Hak Tiger / Crane Form Come Easy..Great Job you were Missing the Slight circular Movements in the Beginning And You Were Looking at your hands Too Much But Other Than That Great Job. As My Sifu Winchell PC Woo would Say. A- . Good Score for you. Outstanding Job!!

Hung Kuen I would have liked to heard the vocalisations but I couldn't because of the rock music. Anyway, very impressive. I hope you will post videos of other forms.

I learned this form in 2010 at the Seattle Kung Fu Club and have practiced it on and off over the last 14 years but recently I started really exploring it deeply - trying to understand the depths of each move. Thank you for posting this! It has helped me in my deeper exploration of this form and my own kung fu.

At my school we are instructed that it should take no less than 8 minutes, but 10 minutes is usual. This form is much slower and more robotic than more advanced forms. There are a few moments where motions should be fluid and quickly executed; but this form was traditionally taught first and the emphasis on slow robotic motions is to teach isolation of muscles and limbs. This helps build foundation so when combining movements into a fluid state you retain proper technique.

Meant to add to my previous comment:
Ultimately the time it takes for the form is semantics. What matters is that you remain consistent in the speed of movements (except the few motions done quickly). Most people have a tendency to speed up as they perform the form because they get tired. This form was traditionally taught first because it develops solid foundation not only through limb isolation but also through energy and breath conservation. You have to learn your body well to know how hard you can push it while conserving the energy to complete such a strenuous and long form.
