A lot of very good points are made here. Carrying your rope in big sloppy coils is another screw up. I used to carry tied off, with my rope in small coils over the horn held with a piece of inner tube. Very fast, very efficient, dangerous sure, but that was Arizona. Lol.
I can say I have never seen or heard of anyone getting caught in there rope I run a 60ft 3/8 and I tie it with a good leather strap and a buckle for adjustment but then again it sits tight to the bottom of my horn and doesn’t move even when im running after a cow in the brush so it might be different if you have one that’s going to flop around like his is with big uneven coils like that. Maybe im just lucky I guess but I’ll still keep my setup like I have it
Thanks for telling us about your setup and how it works for you. It's good to hear from you and hear that you've found a way to carry your rope that you like and works for you.
Accidents can happen we don't need to ask for them to happen. Wise words.
