I swear, if money wasn't an issue, I'd throw money on 6.5 development. I'd invest and try to give it more aftermarket support, inspired by the LS, even though I know it wouldn't be even 10% the size of it. Stronger blocks, heads, head studs, gaskets, pistons, rods, crankshafts, valvetrain...everything to keep these engines alive. Even being able to build one from scratch, just using aftermarket parts, nothing donated from other vehicles. If only...😓 Outstanding build, lad! 😎👍🏻
With modern Technology and the car Industry that want to kill Gas guzzlers and engines that strongly pollute the Air. There is nowhere soon to be more Support for these engines. I bought a 94 GMC Sierra with the 6.5 and I will do everything to keep it alive. Especially that here in Germany I bet there are not so many still driving around. I got some electronical Problems with it and Im thinking about even posting a Video here on UA-cam to talk about some Problems my Truck has since the Community of these Trucks is not so big here in Germany. Maybe some people that are the OG's when it comes to this engine can help me finding problems. I will see in the Future what I can do to hopefully fix some Problems with my Truck
@@Jean_1999 Yeah, but hopefully that paranoia about EV's and this sort of thing will die down when more and more people realize how bad of a deal they are. I wish you success with your Sierra, lad. Hope you can sort things out asap! 👍
look up the 6.5 with the P400 block. It's for marine use and didn't come in the truck, but it has the best metallurgy and more opened cooling channels. The best parts is that is has forged internals, ceramic coated internals, and a 3-4 inch girdle on the bottom that reenforces it so that the cracking block issues are gone. It'll just cost you a steep 12k but its a crazy cool engine. You do also need to put a different oil pan on it to put it into a truck.
@@haydenpearson7203 Thanks for the answer! A while after that comment I was digging more about the Detroit and found about the P400! It's a shame that they didn't offer that engine in the trucks. I've seen companies offering it rated at 250 hp and 440 lb-ft. I wonder how much more they can handle...I know it may not be Duramax levels, but still...

I do not think I have personally ever seen a 6.5 pull that hard....that looks like a blast!! And, with sub 900 degree exhaust temps? at 20 PSI? Very nice! And it looked like little to no smoke?
Sounds sweet I did my ebay hx35ii and diy upper intake and I love it plus I have a air dog 100 I need a tune and intercooler now but that will have to wait until I'm done with my solid axle swap
Compounds really aren’t worth doing on these due to fueling constraints and rod design. You’d be better off with a single S363 and a pump from Verlin Martin. 450-500 horse is easily had and the engine will live for quite a while as long as you intercool it and get it balanced.

At what RPM does this thing start to spool? Is it louder or quieter than the hx40ii or the hx35 hybrids ? Lastly, how did you adapt a t4 to the t3 exhaust? Would love to see it under the hood!
Go over to the Facebook page to see more about it. It starts to spool around 1500 RPMs and it’s louder than the HX. But that’s also due to the billet wheel it has. I use a T3-Y4 adapter from BDidesel to fasten the turbo to the manifold. Hope some of these details help.
I’ve run my S300, S54 and an S60. If you have a stock truck and just want a bit better turbo for work an S54 (hx35) is great. The S60 (hx40) runs great and is a stronger charger for a few added mods. But the S300 so far has been better as a daily driver. Work truck and hauling. It’s all about what the person is looking for and uses a truck for.

It’s not an off the shelf turbo. You need a borg S300 frame 60/68 and a .88ar open scroll T4 exhaust housing. This was built via trial and error to pair well with the 6.5
