Full replay from the ExCeL - North Arena 1 as Spain's He Zhiwen takes on Poland's Wang Zengyi in the second round of the men'd singles table tennis event at the London 2012 Olympic Games (29 July 2012).
In 1926, meetings were held in Berlin and London that led to the formation of the International Table Tennis Federation. The first World Championships were held in London in 1926, but the sport had to wait a long time before it was given its Olympic debut at the 1988 Seoul Games.

He zhi wen held his nerves in the deuce points of the 7th set and won. Unique style of play, trademark wide side spin serve both half long and long to set up 3rd ball. Above all, a true veteran of the game still going strong

if you look at the total points won: 51:43 you will see that He Zhiwen had won more points in his comeback.(57 vs 49). Besides that he lead in the last 7th set. So he had higher probability to win

It's true that He Zhiwen does not retract his non-serving arm the way you are supposed to, and he was very bad about acknowledging lucky breaks like the crucial one at 50:18. But this was an exciting match of youth vs experience. He Zhiwen is always instructive to watch, and Wang showed great tenacity and sportsmanship.

Wang Zengyi didn't really use his brains for this match. Should have given He Zhi Wen a taste of his own medicine by serving to his wide forehand just like He Zhiwen does to other players. You could also tell He Zhiwen was happy he found the weakness in Wang Zengyis backhand.

This is a very cruel game, especially towards the end. Both are short pips player, hitting flat and without using topspin (except for Wang's backhand). This makes it uncomfortable for both players, and they would both have horrible consistency. The deuce game becomes a game of probability, basically rolling the dice to see if the return would make it back on the table. It's awful to even watch...

. They are all illegal; he hides the last bit (contact with the ball) with his right hand (he even makes it as big a shape as possible); and to comment on the first commenter: they aren't bad; it just looks "bad" because they often win with serves or 3rd balls, so there is not much of a game really.
