Courtney is a natural rocker, as you said. Even when she does ballads she imbues them with a bit of the rocker grit and passion. She is so unique, bringing something fresh to the musical world, some of it resurrected from a lost past. Being independent is a slow way to go, but I believe she will pick up a good management team eventually, if it serves to enhance, not change, her style. Christmas Rocks (a banger) is out now. Courtney says this is her last single of 2023, with her album out in 2024. Then she can get on stage with a band and really show out in her most natural element!
Thank you, a lot of the bands and artists I react to are independent, for all around the world and that way you have no one telling you what to do and you can do your own thing, record companies are only their to make money. Off the back of the people with the talent. So I try to help promote these bands and artists if I can.
Monsters is a musical masterpiece by Courtney , red bandana Courtney definitely gives me axel rose vibes, and I get the impression the clown is the “ music industry” knocking on the wall , a monster she’s trying to keep away from. She is phenomenal and a modern rock queen .
Hi. Loved the reaction. Couldn’t agree more. Courtney is absolutely amazing. As you say, love her incredible rock side, but I also think she is equally great across so many genres. R&B, Funk, Soul, Ballads and more. Virtually all artists, no matter how big, have their comfort zone. Inside that zone, great. Outside of it, not so much. Courtney has such amazing range, that I don’t think we’ve found where her comfort zone ends, or if there is an end. She even had an opera clip go viral on TikTok. You take Courtney’s fabulous vocal power, control and versatility, the way she can dominate a stage, her powerhouse skills as a song writer, her dynamite guitar playing and her off the charts creativity, and we’re clearly listening to a generational level talent. One of the greatest artists to come along in our lifetime. Courtney went through hell to start getting her original music out. First, her label for years trying to turn her into something she didn’t want to be. Another pop princess. Can you imagine that magnificent voice you just heard being limited to just pop, but there’s more. Of course, there was Covid, which delayed her album release for more than two years. Then her label was sold, creating even more chaos. At the beginning of this year, as soon as she could, she walked away from her label and went independent. Since than, there have been a torrent of brilliant releases, with much more to come. ‘Monsters’ is an incredible song. Best rock song in forever and if you listen to the lyrics, they have so much depth and meaning. Courtney has said that the monsters are all the insecurities and self-doubt that we all wrestle with. In that regard, the message is universal. You seem to know a lot about Courtney, but I don’t see a lot of her music on your channel. ‘Monsters’ was her first foray back into her rock persona since going independent, but she has already released five sensational songs this year, across multiple genres. First was ‘Breakable’, a great gritty ballad, then ‘That Girl Don’t Live Here’, an uptempo, jazzy number with a touch of almost 1940’s Swing, ‘Call Me Back’ which will rip your heart out every time you hear it and ‘the terrific ‘Christmas Rocks’ along with ‘Monsters’. All would make terrific reactions. Plans next year are to complete and release her long delayed debut album. It may be one of the most anticipated releases in recent memory. Before Courtney is done, she is going to change the face of music. I can’t wait to see what she does next.
Thank you, I did try to react to Courtney, with her early music but it got blocked, so I am so glad she has gone independent my reactions won't get blocked now. So I will be doing more.
@@OldMrB That sounds great. You shouldn’t have any issues with the originals that she has released this year. All are on her YT channel. They are ‘Breakable’, ‘That Girl Don’t Live Here’, ‘Call Me Back’ and ‘Christmas Rocks’. All have fabulous music videos, except no music video for Christmas Rocks, but absolutely worth a reaction. They are across a wide variety of genres, so they r really highlight Courtney’s vocal versatility. She has a huge library of originals that she hasn’t been able to release up until now, but she has shared many, in whole or in part, with fans on live chats, and they are sensational. So there should be no shortage of future material. Looking forward to more reactions 👍
@@OldMrB Excellent! I couldn't agree more with Ed. Ms. Courtney Hadwin has been taking us on a journey through these five released tracks, NONE fitting well in the dusty little boxes into which the music industry insists on categorizing music. I firmly believe that Ms. Courtney in specific, and the other great finds growing up GenZ and taking over the music world from their BEDROOMS (e.g., Billie Eilish and her big brother FINNEAS, amongst others) and home studios like Ms. Angelina Jordan, 18 months younger than Ms. Courtney (also grew up listening to music from her GRANDMOTHER'S era and taste, OLD SOUL, OLD VOICE, OLD STYLE jazz), are creating a new revolution in music, blending their own musical influences just as others did in the 1950's and 60's to create the roots of the music our generation grew up with. Those who inspired the Beatles, Mick Jagger, and so many more. I believe music is going through a great change again. It's always evolving, but sometimes influences come together more strongly than before, and whole new genres are borne. This FEELS like that did in my childhood and youth as I caught up to all that had been happening far away from my rural valley. Something about Ms. Courtney's voice just within a few notes of her singing ANYTHING, in ANY style, just transports me right back to my experience of the 1960's. Don't know what it is, but it's probably almost as great a magic act as she pulled at her AGT audition. She'd been invited, due apparently to her participation in The Voice Kids UK, season 1, the previous year 2017. The family knew America would relate better as this was the home of the music she loved and learned from watching old original performances by the greats from the birth of Rock'n'Roll. If you've never seen it, there's a powerful video showing clips of a shy, frightened 13 year old Ms. Courtney with her Dad, arriving at the site and checking in, going backstage to the huge areas where all the contestants were waiting and preparing for their one chance. She was apparently sure, as teenagers and pre-teens can be, that because she hadn't won TVK-UK the previous year, and now had her ONE LAST CHANCE (if I'm interpreting a lot of clues correctly) to live her dream as a rockstar. All she had to do was impress those four judges, including savage Simon and his handy Red Buzzer of Doom that killed dreams and future career paths. They spent a long day back there, in this huge venue, with full exposure to what was going on as the judges weeded out the applicants, with hard truths and LOUD buzzers hammering the message in to all who waited. YOU NEED TO IMPRESS US! YOU AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH! Over and over.... See for yourself, the performance itself cut out, all else left in: ua-cam.com/video/bMJZzDzweK4/v-deo.html Also, if you're introducing someone new to her actual performance (a copy is further down below, it is NOT included in above BACKGROUND vid), or haven't seen it yet, do this: First time witnessing this performance, when she puts her head down, BEFORE THE MUSIC STARTS, please CLOSE YOUR EYES and JUST LISTEN, be sure to KEEP YOUR EYES CLOSED until she finishes singing. THEN and only then, rewind to where you closed your eyes, restart this time both WATCHING and LISTENING. Those are two completely different experiences that you can only experience properly the first time. This only works the FIRST TIME. I swear THIS is the greatest magic act of all time as that shy little 13yo girl-next-door TRANSMUTES all that STRESS and FEAR wracking her body (she was too stressed and scared for her dreams for her future to go onstage, so they advanced several others before she was composed enough to go out there and take her turn). She turns it all into this WAVE of emotional ENERGY that just FLOODS that big audience in that large theater, driving them to their feet within about 15 to 20 seconds as this shy little girl transforms herself into a hard-rocking SUPERSTAR who's bound and determined to TEACH THEM the truth of that 1968 posthumously-released hit "Hard to Handle" that one of her dearest heroines, Etta James, had tweaked for a female perspective and rocked out with the Grateful Dead in 1983! Keeping alive the art and genius of Otis Redding and his band. Ms. Courtney followed in those footsteps as best she could in her own circumstances, with her tight time deadline to SAVE HER DREAM! Here's a copy of Ms. Etta James' performance (not great quality vid): ua-cam.com/video/1DChW7LtosY/v-deo.html Here's a copy of Ms. Courtney's much shorter time onstage, her AGT audition. Just remember, LISTEN FIRST, CLOSE YOUR EYES before the music starts when she puts her head down and prepares to sing! ua-cam.com/video/lPWNBUtMNsQ/v-deo.html
@givingin2G4Courtz I believe you may be close to edging out Ed in the Complete Courtney Chronicles Category, and well done! You alluded to what seems a cyclical pattern in music history. Great innovative musical styles develop, reach an apex of perfection, somewhat devolve, then become copied and evermore boring as a "thing". Then bits and pieces are rearranged with some additions to develop an era of exciting newly inventive music. This is not a linear process (and I am not breaking new ground here) as there are ripples of new musical art forms between and among the colossal waves. Non-exhaustive example: CLASSICAL, Opera, big band, crooners, swing, jazz, blues, gospel, rockabilly, rhythm and blues, Country, CLASSIC ROCK, psychedelic, metal, grunge, HipHop, CURRENT POP, autotune and copycat pop, now entering the COURTNEY (and perhaps a few others) RETRO-NEW-AGE cycle--I'm rambling, but you get the idea....
Very nice reaction. Courtney has a dedication to her music that seems to flow to her listners no matter what she sings. Hopefully she is done with all her past dissapointments. She has such talent.❤❤🎉🎉
