The chorus came off as wordy because he added the “on the high seas rolling with the team” which was a reference to his Zoro rap which was another One Piece rap.
That last line made the chorus to me and the separation between the chorus and the verses was pretty clear to me so I’m against Scru on this one
@@chosenone8964 I have to agree with you on this one. It's like a split between trying to catch when he is rapping about White Beard and himself. The layers of most of the lines it's hard to catch everything on a first pass.

I like the chorus. The hook is there with the "I know I know that" part, and the lines before and after help break the monotony of repeated listens.

I dunno Scru, I think you and me might just have different opinions on what makes a good hook/chorus. For me, the chorus in this song is amazing because despite being actually quite long, it never feels like it's overstaying its welcome with the bridge and the 2 different following lines within it.
I personally can't stand a short chorus like you described, 4 words, maybe less that just kind of get hammered home. I find it grating and boring. If you make me spend 30+ seconds of your 3 minute song listening to the same 4 words said over and over with no variation or different followups, chances are I'm personally turning it off, even if I really like the artist or the actual verses.
See, as much as I like Scru, I don't think he knows the difference between a hook and a chorus. The two aren't really interchangeable. This is actually an average length Chorus for any other music form, albeit with a bridge that's a little long.
The thing irking me is that people like Fabvl have had Choruses of similar length and word amount and not seen any complaints. I feel it's a style Bias kicking in and its like saying "Hip Hop CAN'T have a chorus longer than ____ Words". I fully agree that a 4-5 word chorus will make me turn off a song and this was a refreshing comment to read to realize I'm not an outlier.

While this isn't always the case, a chorus is usually several lines long whereas a hook could stand as a couple of words or a short phrase. A hook can be within the chorus part of the song, though generally a full chorus is too long to be considered a hook on its own.

A CHORUS and a HOOK are NOT the same thing. A Chorus can contain a hook, but the 2 can't be used interchangeably.
This was a perfect Chorus and the hook was the "I just wanted you to know" part

These artists are a community. They have polls or Patreons that help push which inspired song they do next. THEY chose what THEY wanted their UA-cam revenue to be like. We, as the fans, are just consuming what was paid for, what is being fed to us, and following their journey from there. Idk why that keeps getting confused. These character raps are just about the characters, they pick and choose which character fully incorporates their life & go from there.

The original songs in his albums is something I think you'll relate to and rock with. I suggest reacting to "We Gon be okay!/Heal you" which has a official music video and "I'll Admit".
So at the start of the video you asked about them releasing songs on similar topics at the same time, and they definitely plan that behind the scenes to make songs link to each other and drive up views across each other, it's really clever but you'll notice certain people drop within a day or two of another (rustage, dps and divide and such) and people not within that group will do something else or drop it a week or so later, just what I've seen and put to together as a viewer

I honestly don't hold the same sentiment towards chorus and hooks that you do, there are some really good hooks out there but if all your chorus is a small four word phrase repeated three or four time it tends to get super bland after the second time so fitting more in to make an actual chorus makes it a thousand time better imo
