I have friends that attended that final performance. They said that something otherworldly happened in that room. Black white Asian Latino folks hugging each other praising and shouting. It literally was like a church experience.
I was there. It was an unforgettable experience. It was like going to church. There was love and joy from every person who entered that theater. It was also so nice of the cast the greet us out of their dressing room windows, thanking us for being a part of their journey. I can't rave enough about this performance.

I was there and it was totally soul stirring and breathtaking
It's not "otherworldly" this was church. Happens in black churches every Sunday. They just weren't used to it or ready. That was the Holy Spirit.
@@fundifferent1The otherworldly part is seeing people from different nations and tongues come together as one! Sunday morning is one of the most segregated times of the week and it's a shame.
There's no black church, white church or any other color, it's simply God's church and color should only be used to describe the building.

Yes! The great Richard Smallwood. I was blessed to sing a concert with him last year. He was supposed to do 5 songs. We had 30 minutes in the second half of the show to do it. Instead, Richard took us TO CHURCH in that place! Had folks in the audience and us in the choir shouting all over the place. By the time we finished Total Praise, the last song of his set, we had been singing and worshiping 48 minutes. That meant we had to cut three of our overly complicated songs that we had been practicing for several months. And Nobody Cared!! Cause we had been to Church! Richard's entire catalog is like that. Powerful. Total Praise and Center of my Joy are the first songs I think of when someone asks me to sing a worship song.

I have always said that this song is anointed by God himself, every time you hear it, you can literally feel God's presence.....
If you have ever closed a long running show, it is something you can't explain. The emotion is very raw and VERY real. It literally takes your breath away and often it is too much as baby boy felt at it right at 10:50. Sometimes you have to just walk away and take it all in by yourself because you never feel anything like it again.
That's the Holy Ghost. Been there many times myself.
That’s was deeper than the show. That was the spirit of the Lord.
Somebody got saved that night. AMAZING!
When Jennifer started sangin' you can tell they turned her mic down when she went into super-nova but you can still hear her. That's how powerful her voice is!

I had the blessing of singing that song with THE Richard Smallwood in June 2019. Sometimes I wonder if, when he wrote this song, he could even imagine how God would continually use it to bring people together in praise of The Lord. Hearing Total Praise sung correctly and with full anointing, feels like you're ascending into Heaven. These folks got me sitting at my home office desk crying and worshiping God. And THAT is always a good thing! 🙌🙌🙌🎤🎶🎵

I love this! My favorite show! It's just sucks that Broadway cost so much money..I believe there needed to be WAY more colored faces in that audience. The ghetto deserves to experience this.

I just know when I become a director there will be a leg of the tour where we go to less fortunate neighborhoods and put on the same exact performance. No doubt. For those who do not understand the road of an artist, and just how much of a faith walk it is... you will never understand stand this praise of joyful Thanksgiving among these talented people. I rejoice and celebrate with them... my God what a journey and what a joy is must be to witness your dreams manifest in your life. Awesome!!! Just Awesome!

I’m shedding tears watching this beautiful finale. If I was there in that theatre, I would have no shame loudly saying, “Hallelujah Queen!” (For Cynthia Erivo). Then when Cynthia and the other Broadway queen of mine, Jennifer Holiday, doing their gospel powerhouse vocals together, I’d shout perhaps repeatedly, “Ameeeeeeeeeeen Sisters!”, a line from Godspell y’all. 😊 I’m looking forward to see the film adaption of this beautiful musical.

not religious at all, I’m kinda against it. But the music is amazing. The Amens are out of this world, whoever wrote this originally with those harmonies and that melody is very talented. Gives you goosebumps. Credit to the music, and the musicians for making it feel so other worldly; not the religious aspect
