  • I learned about MJT Guitars by watching their TikTok channel. I have to admit watching their channel is nothing short of guitar porn. I always wondered what that statement basically meant until I watched all of the different models of guitars and guitar parts that they produce. Whenever one of their videos comes up in my feed, I am a happy man. MJT is a company that has been in business for 25 years developing custom and relic'd guitars. You can find their stores either at their website or on eBay.
I finally purchased a body from them on eBay and this is what I am covering in this video. I am a big fan of Offset Teles with this being my third and not last video on the subject.
The body I purchased and am using in this video is described as:
MJT Official Custom Vintage Aged Nitro Guitar Body Olympic White
This is an Alder official MJT® Custom Vintage style Aged Nitro VTM Guitar Body. The body was cut to vintage style specs by our sister company USA Custom Guitars right here in Carthage, MO USA. The body is topped off with an aged vintage 100% nitro Olympic White over Cherry Sunburst finish by Mark Jenny of MJT® Aged Guitar Finishes.
Next I needed to compliment this build with an awesome neck and purchased the neck in this video from Mr G’s Custom off of eBay as well.
    Mr G's Custom (mr.g508)
    The neck is described as:
Genuine Fender Lic. Telecaster Neck- Relic finish. Hand rubbed nitrocellulose lacquer - 9.5" radius. 22 medium frets. "C" profile - '62 Custom decal. Lightly aged nickel tuners. Rosewood fretboard.
I really like the Vintera pickups from Fender and decided to install a set of Fender Vintera '50s Vintage Telecaster Pickup Set
They are described by Fender as -
    • Alnico 3 magnets in bridge for more focus and dynamics
    • Alnico 2 magnets in the neck pickup
    • Vintage "Blackguard" bite and the neck pickup uses alnico 2 for rich, detailed warmth found in early 50's Telecasters.
I had various parts for the build that I had relic’d with Ferric chloride prior to this build. The remaining parts I used steel wool and sandpaper.
I accidently stumbled on a great relicing process for pickguards. First, I steel wool off the luster with #0000 finishing steel wool. Here is the stumble part - I accidently dripped solder on the pickguard. The result once you remove the solder is that it looks just like a cigarette burn and amazingly authentic.
The final product of this guitar makes me very happy. It looks like a guitar that would have been made in the early sixties. Something that would be spawned from the space race and cars with large fins. Hands down from a playable perspective this is my favorite build in a while. It looks f’ing cool and has the tone to match. Really love these Vintera ‘50s pickups.
