For anyone wondering HOW to create this kind of website, it is done using one of the online website builders out there - 90% built with either wordpress or squarespace. Inside of these two builders you have different "templates" that you can choose from that give you the basic look of the website. From there you tweak to your liking and then create your page layouts. Long term wordpress has more features and better SEO, but short term squarespace is easier. I've worked with and designed on both. *Click "read more" for a few examples:* Here is a website I built with wordpress + prophoto7 and the "free fall" theme: hoffmannphotographer.com Here is another built with wordpress + tri-o theme: tailoredfitphotography.com Here is one built on squarespace (not my design): www.henry-tieu.com/ Showit.co is also another new website builder specifically for photographers If you like the look of the prophoto7 design, use this code for $20 off prophoto 7 - pro.photo?qbr=SHOF2672 *Disclaimer - I receive a small commission if you use this link - Feel free to purchase whatever theme / service you like!
Hello I'm a new photographer and I am starting my website these tips are golden, if you plan on making future videos like these I would like for you to check mine out.
Lovely Video! Sorry for chiming in, I would appreciate your initial thoughts. Have you researched - Riddleagan Money Shot Remedy (probably on Google)? It is an awesome exclusive product for conquering any DSLR camera without the headache. Ive heard some pretty good things about it and my BF at last got cool results with it.
I am redesigning my photography website and this is soooo amazing.. I am watching this again for the second time.. You speak so well and clearly - thank you for that.

This is all wedding photographers. I would have liked to see a more versatile range of photography websites. However, I did enjoy the helpful information about balancing UX and SEO. Thanks for sharing!
Just want to say thank you. Just started working on my website and this helped me so much. I made a nice list of things I have to work on and will be getting at it in the weeks to come. Take care.
Omg, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to post a video like this! This is EXACTLY what I needed, and you explain everything in such a way that's easy for me to consume... thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Really Helpful video, Ryan. Seems like a really good video to look at after my last video on why you need a photography website. I'll link this to mine. thanks for making this!👌
I'm about to redesign my site from scratch and this is a good research video! I'm not in the wedding market but I did see some great features I may use on mine
Hey Dude, I'm redesigning a wedding website for a friend and this is just what I have been looking for, some wonderful examples and sound advice, thanks for your time and effort ;)
I feel kind of excited to create my own website and keep coming back to your channel for tips and tutorials on creating the best website for wedding photography. Thank you!
That's so awesome Rhajiv! Really excited for you and glad the tutorials have been helpful. For more in depth info, step by step guides and premade marketing templates definitely check out our Photo Biz Marketing School: shop.signatureedits.com/marketing-branding-membership
It is funny I saw the video is over 30 minutes long so I thought I will skim thru it quickly but I ended up watching this all the way thru because there is a lot of great little tips.
Hey Shelli! You don't need a physical address to list your business on google maps - You can list your business with a local service area instead (ie serving couples in the greater detroit area)
Did all these photographers build these from scratch? I'm guessing they had some program to help them build it. What do these sites use or what would you recommend to use as a base for building a websire? (sports or whatever it may be)
Hey Scott! Great question - And the answer is "kinda" haha. They would have all used a website builder tool of some kind, and probably worked off of a pre made template that they tweaked to fit their liking. Usually this is done using either wordpress or squarespace. Personally I use wordpress with a prophoto theme on my site hoffmannphotographer.com, and the theme tri-o for wordpress on my other site, tailoredfitphotography.com --- Here is a unique code for prophoto that will give you $20 off: pro.photo?qbr=SHOF2672 *disclaimer, I will receive a small commission if you sign up with prophoto using that code - Feel free to use whatever service you choose!
WHA? You're the bomb Adrein! Thanks so much for sharing your work :) Let me know if you'd like to send through any raw files for future tutorials! (Will make sure to give you a shoutout)
"you dont want to work with people that dont FIT you". OMG YES! that paycheck from a bad fit will leave you questioning if that nightmare was worth it. lol
Thanks Mr Hist! TBH I actually have no idea what song the intro is anymore *facepalm* I created the intro video but pretty sure I lost the template, so now all I have is the exported mp4!
Hi, The examples you showed are wedding photographer websites I am not interested in building a wedding photography site. Can you show some good documentary photographers sites, editorial, life style, photo journalism,. Etc ...
Great point Glenn - I need to do a newer video showcasing other types of photography websites! That said, most of the principals I talk about in this video still apply to every kind of photography website design :)
Please include information about how to secure your website and why it matters. When I checked with GoDaddy, I believe the cost was around $190/ year. If I am not doing e-commerce through my site, how does it affect me? It seems like another way for hosts to make money.
Hi Deb! Totally unnecessary to do that - A basic SSL certificate is all you'll need. If you use siteground they actually include this for free (which is one of the many reasons I switched from hostgator to siteground!) Using GoDaddy and Hostgator you can manually buy + add an SSL certificate for like $10/yr from a 3rd party but the process is confusing... Again why I just went with siteground :) Using this affiliate link will give you a discount: www.siteground.com/index.htm?afcode=92b8e0fd46757e7bf808f1005a3a6e41
Hmm if you download the chrome extension "wp sniffer" you'll be able to see which theme it is if its on wordpress! Otherwise you can right click --> View page source and most of the time find it in there!
Website speed: definitely take the time to resize and COMPRESS your images (lots of free compression sites) before putting them on your website and it makes a huge difference in load time. -signed, the photog who only has 10 mbps internet max.
I agree it's important info! The question is, WHEN do you need that info? The more questions upfront, the lower the contact rate. So sometimes it is better to get the initial contact, THEN followup for more info :)
@@SignatureEdits Of course not in a hurry! But the quote should be shared only when you know most of it. In India where I work, clients and specially event agencies hide a hell lot and surprise you with things you can't imagine. If you asking questions is not working with the client then it's better you don't work with that client.
@@sameermangtani Great points - You're right - with Indian weddings the context is totally different and near impossible to provide even a rough starting quote without more info :) I agree - Ask the amount of questions you need to ask rather than surprising the client with hidden charges down the road! Thanks Sameer :)
Fair point Graham! Should have showcased a few non wedding sites. That said the SEO and design principles from all these examples would definitely still transfer over to other types of photography too!
So much good info here and you ruin it with comments on the lingerie and implied nudity photos. “Oh well that’s something else, I did not want to see that”... are you 12? It was honestly distracting and frankly unnecessary.
@@SignatureEdits All this stuff is the same blueprint, aesthetic, vibe etc especially when it comes to the creative of the work itself. Yeah, it may not be the best UX for the average person, but when it comes to working with clients people dream of, the creative is there and makes the person stand out.
How come whenever a photo of a female in undress- such as the one of the expecting mother came up you'd announce "I don't want to see that". Do you think the female body is indecent? What kind of misogynist crap are you spouting. Very toxic masc.
Lol not at all. As a man I can assure you 100% I very much enjoy seeing a woman in provocative clothing. As a husband however, I'd prefer to be able to avoid the temptation to look somewhere other than my bedroom for that ;)
