Bisping is correct. Conor is done, he’s been out for way too long, and he’s got his money. His lifestyle alone takes him out the fight. Not saying he’s not good anymore, but he’s not at the top anymore. Conor going straight for the belt is about as much as he can go for now, if he takes a lower fight he runs the risk of getting beat, and further lowering his stock. You have to get as many banger fights out of him as you can while you can.
The point of fighting sports is to make as much money as possible for just about 99% of guys in MMA and boxing. A lot of the successful fighters come from nothing and are motivated by an insatiable hunger because of it. Conor made more money than he could even comprehend from fighting Mayweather, and he seemed to realize that he could use that money to keep making more and that he didn’t need to fight anymore. Once a fighter doesn’t believe that they need to fight, whether it be for money or for their pride, it’s really hard to bring the same intensity to training. Tons of spoiled kids from very wealthy families end up wasting their potential because they know from a young age that they don’t “need” to work hard, so they don’t have any drive to succeed on their own.
I would like to see a Joe Rogan fight podcast where it's Bisping, Sonnen, and John Fury. Rogan just there to moderate. Those guys are some of the best storytellers in fight game. I am sure there are others out there, but those are the guys off the top of my head.
Connor is the Kanye of MMA…a genius marketer who loses his mind every now and then. It’s not fair but every person will watch that fight…it’s just facts
Conor’s done IMO. No hate against him. Just feel that the rest of UFC moved on in terms of skill/strategy while he’s been out. Leg kicks being a prime example. That combined with the fact that he’s extremely wealthy now makes it tough to truly be a motivated “killer” in the octagon. Fighting from necessity/survival as opposed to fighting for thrill is just different
Yeah I don’t blame him to an extent. If I had all that money and success idk if I’d want to get the shit kicked out of me when I don’t have to. Idk these guys are built different so I’m sure he’ll be back.
He’s still a great fighter but he’s been fighting the best of the best. If Connor wanted to he could’ve pulled a khabib and fought 4 good fighters and then retired
Bisping is easily in my top 10 JR guests, should have a yearly visit signed easily... JR should involve his fan base more and ask for which guests to come back and make polls... would be epic.
He does SOO much content.. A yearly visit on rogan? Doesn't seem necessary at all. If he's able to make a fight companion episode that could be cool. He can poke fun at brenda.
Imo Dana did Conor dirty, he gave Conor top fights that he was clearly not ready for. Sure he made a lot of money, but for Conor as a fighter, dana fucked him up.
@@005_warismaqbool8 He has too much name recognition so he cant fight in the undercard. He has been given betable opponents. Conor is the most pampered fighter in the UFC.
Unfortunately for the UFC they have a major problem, without a major TV deal and only relying on PPV sales as their major source of income, Conor knows how to sell a fight to casual fans. Most of the fighters in the UFC don't understand how to sell and then complain they're not making the money. UFC needs Conor more than Conor needs the UFC, because of that, they'll always roll out the red carpet for him.
lost to khabib, then a hungry dustin poirer after a year off, and then flukely broke his leg, your looking at the situation wrong, all that lightweight division will get slept by conor
@@izaahtamayo6863 I’m a true mma fan and I enjoyed Conor’s rise to the top? He was an elite fighter. I can’t believe people still get triggered over Conor 5 years later lmao
When Sergio Martinez started having knee problems, he could no longer take or give a punch. There is no telling if Conor will ever be able to plant and throw with power on that leg the same way, much less take or kick with that leg.
Joe, you and The Count need to do a co-mma show maybe once every two weeks or a month. I liked him as a fighter, but his commentary and views have really brought him into the forefront of a small group of people I listen to about MMA.
Conor has also grown too big for his team I think. He has yes men around him. He’s not developed, he’s actually regressed when you see his movement and his reflexes/combination punches and lack of kicks for setting up his strikes. If you look at him in the first porier fight compared to the other two. It’s massively different. He won’t ever win against these top level guys if he can’t even do what got him to this point, let alone progress beyond that. He’s a shadow of his former self, he never had insane power either, he had timing and placement. That’s virtually gone too. Porier was fucking him up second fight with boxing and Conor shot on him because of that. He was lucky his leg broke because he’d have gotten beaten badly and KO’d. He used to be a student of the game, now he thinks he’s a master when he’s lost so much of his ability at this point. In the first fight with porier he set him up with beautiful long kicks, spinning heel kicks etc and forced him into the shots he wanted. That’s how Conor’s game worked, staying at HIS range by moving back and in and out with his karate stance and forcing them to stay in an area and containing them where they’re vulnerable to his left hand. Forcing them into his traps. His game would still be effective now if he gets back to that and he can, because he’s done it before. He just seems too egotistical now and won’t see problems with his current game and doesn’t have the people around him to tell him he sucks now compared to before.
One thing I disagree with is that he “got lucky his leg broke”. Nah man, that snapped leg is a career killer. I wish he would’ve gotten pummeled, so he could reassess and come back stronger than ever. The leg break is a massive handicap. Especially now that everybody knows and can just aim for it lol
@@Johnnygga yeah but I just meant in terms of the fight and him not being “beat”. If he got KO’d and fucked up again he wouldn’t have anything to say. But then again you’re probably right, he has another excuse now too and won’t see the things he did wrong prior to the leg break.
I think me and a ton of people really have hope and want to see and believe Conor can come back and be great again, but man it just seems crazy at this point
No he said that Cowboy wasn't trying which is what Rogan took issue with. McGregor v Aldo was also quick, if McGregor was just coming back for that fight you could say the same thing.
"Its kinda crazy" crazy? It's wrong! Connor doesn't deserve to fight for the belt, how disrespectful to all the fighters busting their asses off for ranking. Respect and morals are worth more than money, money comes and goes but how u behave in these scenarios shows the type of person you are. These guys are talking story lines instead of deserved match ups
Bro what’s crazy is that Rogan finally agreed with what SAS said about the Conor Cowboy fight. He didn’t want to agree with it that night and now he did. Less than a minute in.

@@virginiareaper1178 it was like 2009/2010...whenever him and Henderson were coaches on TUF. Dana use to give matching cars to the coaches of each season. So I had worked at a shop that built the cars, so after the fight I had gotten invited up to Moon at the Palms by my buddy who coordinated the whole thing. I got there and was hanging out, Micheal was tucked in the booth talking to some people, few of my buddies, and a few random girls just hanging around the table. Not wanting to be a freeloader, I went to the bar and got myself and a buddy some drinks, came back and set them on the table, proceeded to try to have a conversation over the annoyingly loud music. Well a couple girls walk by and grab our drinks so I reached out and grabbed her arm and attempted to explain that they were mine I had just purchased at the bar, she obviously couldn't hear me, she kinda scoffed at me and then walked away, I thought that was it, but then she immediately walked around the back of the booth, tapped Bisping on the shoulder, talked into his ear, pointed straight at me. 😳 So him and I make eye contact, he doesn't look happy. He stands up but he can't get out of the booth cuz there's a few people seated on either side of him. So I panic, run over on the other side of the booth to my buddy who invited me, screamed in his ear exactly what happened, he then leans over and tells Bisping what happened, he gives me a nod, I give him a nod and that was it. @@kevindube7096 Well, if you are going to judge a meritocracy from capitalist lenses, then of course, everything will be a failure. Show me a capitalist system not corrupt to all hell? Anything in the extreme is messed up. Either way, the argument is that if an organisation claims to be the 'ultimate' 'fighting' championship and is constantly talking about professionalism, rankings, making weight, drug testing - following all these rules - then it should also at least TRY to stick to those rules when matchmaking. Instead, we have a weird, sudden complete disregard for everything when it comes to cash cows. Dana is willing to throw away everything, everything he literally terminates his fighters' contracts over just because they don't make him a bajillion papers. So it just makes it all look like a giant corrupt government, no different than the several million throughout history. If they match up their cash cow a bit and lead him through the rankings, even if via easy to win matches, AT LEAST you can say that he climbed the rankings. But here it's just shameless favouritisms. Favours should be given to those who are the most in need of them, not the guy who has it all. But the reality is that they don't actually care about Conor himself, they care about sucking him dry of all his value and once he loses all of his star power, he won't get the time of day from them. If you think about it, it's extremely sad because here's a guy who sold his soul for pennies and fair-weather folk.
@@johanstinson nah I want to see Islam Vs Conor. And if Conor becomes champ there's no way he takes that fight. Whereas if Islam becomes champ first he'll have no choice.
I've always been of the opinion he had the touch of death at 145.... for that weight class his power was just on another level. But as he's gone up in weight classes it looks diminished because the power in that division is different. His actual power I don't think has really changed that much, he's just fighting larger opponents. Had he landed the combos and shots he landed against Alvarez against just about any 145er it wouldn't have lasted as long. He had a distinct power advantage because he was at the right weight class. Once he changed that there's been a noticeable difference. All that being said it doesn't matter. I don't think McGregor could make 145 even if he wanted to anymore. And if he did, with what's waiting down there he wouldn't have much better success.
@@nicholaslindsey1696 exactly! Another great example. But certain fighters have an opposite effect at heavier weight classes. I.E Cormier and Anthony Johnson. Cormier KO'd people at HW and manhandled them. While great at 205 he was seriously depleted and his power showed.

Best analysis 👌 on here. Fair play

And outside the cage he hasn't treated his body right either.
Yeah I don’t blame him to an extent. If I had all that money and success idk if I’d want to get the shit kicked out of me when I don’t have to. Idk these guys are built different so I’m sure he’ll be back.

Bisping is great. Him and Joe commentating main card events would be amazing.
Keep in mind that Conor has only ONE victory and three loses at 155lb. That'd be pitiful if he gets a title shot.
But he’s lost to the elite but nevertheless

Great analysis. Could not agree more.
Well said Charles would kill Conor and submit him very quickly especially after a year off. I want to see Conor fight somebody like Chandler first.

What happened
Idk who the girl was, it's been so long ago, I don't know if it's the girl he's married to now or she was with someone else, just happy to have left there with all my teeth.

Kinda like Julian Jacksons power in boxing. Knocks them dead at lower weights, doesn't have quite the same impact when he moved up
@@nicholaslindsey1696 exactly! Another great example. But certain fighters have an opposite effect at heavier weight classes. I.E Cormier and Anthony Johnson. Cormier KO'd people at HW and manhandled them. While great at 205 he was seriously depleted and his power showed.
